    It's definitely worth the money. I did a bunch of research before jumping into this and it's been totally worth it. Although this interface can be used in different ways with different instruments/mics, it really is an interface that was designed with guitarists in mind.
    If you want to tweak *guitar-specific* inputs, use a DAW to record/playback, add effects, VST's, impulse responses, record and send a dry re-amp signal out all at the same time, - this is what you want. It's a proven, tested solution bundled with Ableton Live and Amplitube, making this an awesome unit.
    The integrated MIDI control opens up thousands of possibilities. I've got two of these units now; one for the studio and one that I use live. Enough said 👍

  • @PlayFloyd_IN
    @PlayFloyd_IN 2 года назад

    I purchased this unit [used] for around USD 200 in July 2021. This is a good unit, period. I use it with my two notes captor, which is connected to my Hughes and Kettner statesman EL34 head and it works great, with no problem at all.
    Thanks for your insight, Henning. It is always much appreciated. 🙏

    If you lower the process buffer and usb you can get the latency down to almost nothing BUT, if you are running a CPU heavy VST like (NATAS) you might have to increase this buffer otherwise it will start giving you issues. My advice record the DI track first with low latency, then increase the buffer size when your gonna start adding EQ and Compression, the more FX you add on to a track the more processing power it needs to do = more latency.

    • @sloppyprogrammer4373
      @sloppyprogrammer4373 Год назад

      In all fairness, I wouldnt ever recommend tracking a guitar, or whatever instrument with much effects or processing before its track is solid on beat and a very clean DI track. Since being solid on the rhythm and making sure the DI track is as clean as can be, is much more important than processing effects at that point in time. You really want to eliminate as much noise and flaws as possible that other wise need to be combatted with EQ tricks (which might mess up your tone in de end).
      Secondly, I would like to add, that many (especially legacy) VST have bad mulithread optimization and might introduce even more latency due to that. Or worse, sound artifacts. And from experience, I know not every DAW is equal in how they're allocating resources spent by the VST. Especially if you're also on an older licensed DAW.
      Also take in consideration, that running software like guitar pro might introduce even more latency.
      If you're building a new PC for sound engineering, you would preferably opt for a current flagship cpu that has best single thread performance over more cores. Doesn't matter if Intel or AMD is on top right now, they're both great brands at the moment but they both have their strong and weak stuf , if you're building a new pc that is and you're really on a budget. (And trust me, if you're just a little bit serious about this hobby, it's probably much better to DIY PC (or hackintosh) instead of apple, not hating on apple btw. I love my Macbookpro for software engineering and certain tasks, they're great. But if you have a hard requirement for as much performance as possible, probably better to DIY.
      Just go for best single thread performance and thank me later. Don't get me wrong, more cores GOOD right now. But if, say, a 20 core has better single thread performance than a 24 core CPU, then you might want to consider the 20 core over the 24 core, in my opinion.
      More core = faster render times, but is this really important if you're tracking?
      Faster thread = better real time performance.
      (Just examples, grain of salt you know).
      Most applications nowadays scale exceedingly great with multithread, but you might still be using years old licenses/legacy software that isn't updated to modern standards. Or your DAW might not be too great with resource management.

    There's a probability the latency issue you have in Cubase is due to a different plugin that is adding latency compensation(additional latency to the buffer), a lot of waves and izotope plugins do that.

    It looks cool, but for that price? I'll keep my Focusrite 18i8. For direct guitar, and even with pedals, the Focusrite pre amps are amazing. It also has lightpipe expansion, but no word clock, but it does have SPDIF. I've been running pedals into BiasFx with the digital pre amp and tone stack off, and it sounds crazy good. This box seems late to the party and overpriced IMO, but your demo, as always, is top notch. You are one of my most trusted channels Henning. You always keep it real. Cheers: )

      @raelik777 4 года назад +1

      As someone just getting into this whole digital recording setup (I was always a pedal and amp guy before), this thing was actually a godsend for me. You aren't just buying an interface, you're buying an entire production setup for recording guitar (minus like headphones and cables, which I obviously already had). You get the interface, you get Ableton Live 10 Lite, Amplitube 4 Deluxe (sometimes MAX, if there's a deal, which I did get), 10 T-RackS plugins, and a few other things. If I had just got the basic Amplitube 4, I would've been happy, but I didn't, I got the full package. If you don't want or need any of that stuff... then yeah, it's probably a little pricey and you could spend a bit more and get a much more capable interface, though it probably won't have the Z-Tone impedance matching, which does make quite a bit of difference when dialing in tone (unless all your guitars use active pickups, which IS something to think about if all you do is metal).

      I believe you could, but I don't know that it would help if your computing power is low. • @alexbreyer6921
      @alexbreyer6921 5 лет назад +4

      This has two preamps, but it's really four inputs because it's aimed at guitarists. Most two preamp models you'd have to pick mic or DI, where here you can do four inputs total. That impedance + reamp features alone will cost you $200-$300 from single solution products. (Look at Cloudlifter or Radial Reamp) Let's look at 4 input USB interfaces. Behringer/Tascam/M-Audio are cheaper and we know why. Presonus makes some decent stuff, but their Studio series is cheaply made with fewer features than this. Just $50 less. The Steinberg is an okay product, so that's a preference thing, just $50 less. Once we get to Focusrite and Mackie you aren't saving money. Yeah, you can find two preamp interfaces at half the cost, but they won't have the functionality of just the hardware alone. Not that I can see. Add to this the software, if that's your thing, and this offers a lot. If their software isn't your thing, you've wasted time even considering it.

    • @jayquickfinger
      @jayquickfinger 5 лет назад

      Yes but I already own Amplitube 4 with all the add-ons, and a Focusrite 2i4, and except for the built in tuner, it can do anything that this box can, but even the tuner is totally redundant when there is a much more accurate tuner inside Amplitube. As for the re-amping, an output doesn't have to say AMP on it to do this. Amplitube is worth every penny, I agree with that. Don't get your panties in a bunch people, buy what you like, I am just expressing an opinion that I don't see such groundbreaking stuff here.

    • @EasyHeat

      @@EytschPi42 So do you do that a lot, recording dynamic mics with phantom power turned on? Because this interface switches 48v for both mic inputs at once, as far as I know.

    Oh Man, schon wieder ein ziemlich sinnloses Video von dir! Wieso nicht mal ein AB Vergleich zwischen standard Interfaces und diesem? Impedance Regeler WOW!!!! Aber macht es wirklich ein Unterschied, wenn du dieses IK Ding vergleichst mit RME, UAD usw. oder all die realtiv günstigen Interfaces wie z.B Focusrite oder NI?
    Es scheint so, als wäre dies einfach eine weitere möchtegern "man merkt es nicht" Werbung für ein weiteres sinnloses Produkt, was keine wirklich neue Klangverbesserung hat.
    ...keine Ahnung ob du so etwas machst oder nicht aber es wirkt halt mal so!
    Wieso das Teil nicht mal mit dem Sono "Tube" Interface vergleichen?
    Dein Test vom Sono war erst kürzlich! Dann wäre das Ganze mal ein bisschen aussagekräftiger.
    Ich denke, das mittlerweile die meisten gerafft haben, dass ein RUclips Review ohne Vergleich
    ziemlich für den Arsch ist ...und auch verdammt langweilig!
    Ich hoffe, du fühlst dich nicht zu sehr angepisst aber ich schätze mal, diese Schiene zieht nicht mehr so lang.
    Mach doch einfach mehr interessante Vergleiche ...um das drehen sich doch all die youtube Reviews ...was ich vielleicht kaufen tu und was nix gut für mich!
    Aber dazu braucht es wenigstens ein A und ein B um mal grob unterscheiden zu können.
    Glaube immer noch an dich :)
    Cheers

      This continuous comparison between interfaces that are part of different market segments is really tiring.
      UA don't produce interfaces, are real computers that perform the functions that other interfaces allow PCs to do.
      I'll give you an example: if I have a Mac Pro, I have a computer more powerful than the 1 core of the UA Arrow, which is the UA entry level interface, and still costs 100 euros more than AXE I / O.
      To reduce the latency to 1 ms, when already under 20 ms latency it's imperceptible to the human ear, why don't I have to use my Mac at maximum power?
      Then, on UA Arrow you can only use a few plugins, while with my Mac I use sequences of dozen plugins, on Ableton, and often produced by different companies. Which you can't do with UA.
      That is, you can't put a U-HE reverb after the amp and before the cabinet ...to give just one example.
      Beautiful products, but if you don't have a Octo core Satellite, which costs 1200 euros more, you do almost nothing with the Arrow. Because with UA you are eventually forced to use only UAD plugins. And they cost ...

    such a strange tick you have with the constant lip sucking. You're on an open mic, you really need to control that, I am trying to listen to you here and not get my ears blown out.
