The whole hour talked around and not a word about the majestic James LEVINE!!! Shame on you!

Isn’t the documentary about the creation of the Opera House? Levine had nothing to do with it.

@@ER1CwC Firstly, this film is about Leontyne Price!, which shows that you have no idea about Price's work. Levine and Price are like bad luck!James Levine played a pivotal role in Leontyne Price's life! I think at least he should be mentioned too! not a word about him! they tricked him! he was one of the best conductors! now just a bunch of shitty idiots

@@veganonly I know Leontyne Price’s career, but I have never seen the film. I’ve only seen the clips released on the Met channel, and they all have to do with the Met Opera House, not Price’s career. I would appreciate a bit more civility on your end. In any case, there seems to be a pretty obvious explanation: his well-documented pedophilia, which was an open secret in the classical music world long before MeToo.

@@ER1CwC firstly, it is not proven! Secondly, if that's true, he didn't force anyone into bed. They all wanted a career, but because of his fame and power at the Met they snuggled up to him.

@@veganonly It doesn’t matter. It was with teenagers, and there was a massive power hierarchy. And everyone in the business knew. Everyone. And many people not in the business knew too. I was told of it when I was in college in 2009. Everyone knew.

Instead of going nostalgic, this channel ought to dedicate some bandwidth to ponder on the increasingly unsustainable size of today's Met auditorium. Why unsustainable? Easy, for two principal reasons: the mutually inclusive phenomena of the precipitous decline in singing combined with the disappearance of charismatic voices and artists; AND ever dwindling audiences for the artform in the USA. If anything, use the nostalgia trip as impetus to build a new auditorium that encompasses this harsh reality. I don't know, something tiny and postmodern like a two car garage or moderate size warehouse that will put the lousy singers we have to work in new "operas" in a hardscrabble, hipster, "creative" workshop environment. At the least there won't be a lack of directors to choose from. Grand.
