  • Hello and welcome back to another Weekly Vlog (or a big welcome if you're new here!) A brief summary of what you will find in this week's vlog:
On Monday, quite a few restrictions eased, which means we can now look after my niece, Maisie. It also meant I could finally give her a hug, after over a year of not hugging her! We had an early start on Tuesday, as my Dad had to take me to Romford to have a Gastroscopy, which wasn't much fun.
I felt pretty rubbish on Wednesday from the sedation and Gastroscopy. I just tried to rest for most of the day, but do show you the gift I got Bonnie. On Thursday, I had a virtual Pain Group Introduction session and also chat to Noah about his day at pre-school.
Friday didn't really go to plan at all! I really wasn't feeling well, so had to give my apologies for my Council meeting and postpone my hair appointment. I did manage to open a bit of post and also help to give Bonnie her first bath! On Saturday, my Dad and I went to look at the Peugeot 5008, and touch wood it seems like the right car for me! In the evening we had pizza and watched Eurovision. Then Sunday was pretty laid back - I even did a face mask and relaxed a bit in the evening!
I really hope you enjoy watching this week's vlog. Please do let me know if there are any videos you would like to see me film!

I commend you for sharing, and having it so together! My life would not be one to watch😬 Can hear you and relate so much with the guilt struggle as well as how scary and wearing the symptoms can be.

I love to watch your vlogs!
I live on my own, with no family nearby and your vlogs feel like catching up with a friend.
Hopefully your car will be sorted out soon, and it will open up your world.
I’m not allowed to drive, and would love to - but it would be really dangerous as I have really bad eyesight.
I still don’t have a carer, ...and I’m stilllll chucking all my post in a box!
I was discharged from the pain clinic team because I had pain in too many places - and they cut my tramadol by 3/4 told me to go swimming (when all the pools were closed!) and left me to get on with it.
I would love to ask, how are you getting on with your smart crutches?
I’m currently using a pulpit frame/full leg calliper (my knee won’t go or hold straight, so I think an opposite problem to yours, it’s frustrating that I can wrap my leg around my head - but can’t stand and put any weight on it!), hopefully I can get my balance (and POTS) under control enough so that I can use smart crutches too, but I haven’t bought any yet as I would love to ask people about them first, especially how to transition from a frame to them, ...oh, and choosing a colour might take me ages too!
    Billie.

Jenny cariad, please don’t beat yourself up. It definitely takes us EDS folk much longer to recover from procedures than so called “normal” folk xxxxxxxxxx

I've had multiple endoscopies via the mouth. I had sedation for the first one as I had a colonoscopy at the same time. I don't think the sedation works - I barely react to benzos and that sort of stuff, which is what I think it is. I had the throat spray each time, but that lasted maybe 3 minutes max. Those sorts of things don't work long for me at all.
Have you ever had the electric scooters? I'm applying for PIP and think I will get the amount to cover one, which I think will be really good for me. Just wondering if you have any tips for choosing one, if you think buying brand new is worth it, that sort of thing.
Do you think the opioids do make your stomach issues worse? I've been on d-h-c (don't want to put full word in case it's not safe or something, but I'm sure you can work it out) because c-c isn't keeping my pain under control. My GP is limiting how many I get, which I understand, but I'm really struggling pain wise on my worse days, which is a solid 10-15 days of the month. I've just got a JHS with chronic pain diagnosis - I'm very unhappy with the rheumatologist I saw and felt he was just ignoring anything I said and refused to even consider hEDS and didn't even do any of the Beighton testing! After chasing the after-appointment letter up, he has eventually sent me to the POTs service, and specialist hypermobility physio. But my GP and I have agreed to refer to a different hospital rheumatology as my GP described it "he diagnosed my symptoms, not the underlying cause".
I've noticed that the upped opioid dose is making me a little constipated, so I have some powders for that. But what I wanted to ask before blathering on was: Do you think the opioids are making your stomach issues worse? The rheumy said that some of my stomach issues are being caused by the opioids, which I just don't think with the small amount I'm on, plus I just don't think that it's that.
Hope you're doing well, and getting lots of lovely auntie time with Bonnie in!
