I have made boomerangs for 15 years. Please never, never throw them flat! That is the best way to break a boomerang. If you are interested in some I would be glad to send you some for free. Just need to know what hand you are. (Right or Left) Right or left boomerang? ( kinda like sticking your hand in a very large spinning prop) catch it like someone threw you a pancake and you don't want to mash it. Curl you fingers back and catch it between your palms. Love you guys. And many happy returns.
Thank you. I got a boomerang a few years ago and learned how to throw it before I even took it out to the field. I cringed when he said he was going to throw it sidearm because 1) It's just gonna loop and smash into the ground and 2) it's the perfect way to get a boomerang to hit someone in the head at full speed. Yes, boomerangs are fun. Yes, boomerangs are dangerous. If you're reading this and want to get a boomerang, do your research first so that you avoid injuring someone and/or buying a boomerang that doesn't fit the space that you have.
I'm a high school science teacher and professor and a lifetime member of the USBA (Unitied States Boomerang Association). I've been making, teaching my students, and throwing boomerangs (I used to throw competitively) for over 20 years. I'm also using the FliteTest STEM curriculum at my school in Ashland, OH. I hate to say it, but the "authentic Aboriginal boomerang" is "touristy" gimmick. The aerodynamics of those "boomerangs" are completely wrong. Plus, never throw a boomerang side-armed. The hunting sticks, called kylies, were thrown side-armed, but the returning boomerangs (despite stories and Hollywood, were never used for hunting) are always thrown vertically or nearly vertically. You may not realize it, but some of the world's best boomerang throwers are located in Ohio...a couple of them in the Canton area. I highly recommend contacting Gary and Logan Broadbent (father and son throwers). Gary has been giving motivational talks all over the country using boomerangs and holds several world records with boomerangs. Gary and I used to travel all over together giving demos at places such as schools, camps, Science conferences, NASA, etc. I did more of the glider demonstrations and Gary would do the boomerang demos. His son, Logan, now lives in Cleveland is now one of the top boomerang throwers in the world, has been on the Cleveland news several times, and was on the last season of the American Ninja competition. They refer to Logan as the "Boomerang Ninja": facebook.com/boomerangninja/ Believe me, it would be worth the time (and may make a really neat FT episode) to contact them and have them come out and give a demo. Also, look up the USBA website: usba.org/ for more information and it'll be a good place to find boomerangs that would actually work. :) Many Happy Returns!
I recently had a prop chop through an antenna for my receiver when my FT Explorer was viciously attacked by a rock on landing. I called Hitec and asked about part numbers so I could order one. $15 for a pair, not bad. I talked with Brian (I think? Kevin?) for about 20 minutes talking about crashes, flying, rebuilding etc and at the end of it all, he said for being such a loyal customer over the years he went ahead and sent me a pair of antenna free of charge. It's stuff like that that keeps me as a customer. Not so much the freebie stuff, but the appreciation and general good nature of people. Which is why I support Flite Test and stay away from places like Banggood like the plague.
Banggood is the only reason i can afford to stay in this hobby.. Your shipping costs are just not worth it (Im from Europe). I know they clone designs, which is unfair.. But man, 100 bucks for a quad frame while you can get it for 20 on banggood? Hard to beat..
@@ianking.5721 ya but if there was a supercar on banggood for 2,000 dollars, you know that you and everybody else would have one. Thats the dumbest reason not to enjoy a hobby.
Clayton Skarke I agree with you. Not everyone has the fundings to get into right away. Like me I really want to get into fpv drones but you know what I can’t afford it, so I just buying parts for my quad whenever I can.
For the boomerang, yes throw it tomahawk style almost completely vertical with a slight angle to the right (from bottom to top in the direction of / if right handed). Throw modestly and to the right of a slight head wind. Start there and adjust as needed to get it to come back to you close enough to catch it. Love the show guys, keep it up! Good luck.
If you want to eliminate Banggood or Gearbest as an purchase option then you need to sort out your freight costs to ship outside the U.S. as this is what kills a lot of the online store options for me. The cost to ship by UPS to outside the U.S is very high and makes parts and large models very expensive to get to N.Z.
Thank you flitetest for all of the free build plans and videos! You guys, and especially the mighty mini's got me through the winter! I built 2 sparrows that I fly FPV with a friend. I've had 3 hard accidental landings, one straight into a tree, and it's held up crazy well. thanks again, love you guys, keep it up!
don't know if y'all have ever heard of a N9Mb flying wing, but I just finished building one and hope to fly it soon. this is my second drive shaft setup first being a P39 with the motor set in the full scale location behind the pilot. the system works great for me. also on the N9Mb project, I do have the split drag rudders on the tips from the full scale plane as well. so far it's been a great project I've been enjoying building.
My experience with Boomerangs is you should throw them "reverse tomahawk' style as was mentioned, foil oriented liek an airplane wing, at approximately 60 degrees from flat. approximately the angle of your forward slash "/" on your keyboard. The point of the boomerang should be piercing the wind first. Spin them up a lot to increase lift and don't throw them too hard. Keep the arc tight and small to start. I can pretty much hit what I aim at with a boomerang and make it return to me within about 10 feet (often into my hands) but it takes practice and it should be thrown into the wind. Really, the expectation is that the boomerang creates a parabolic arc that will return. (Think of an inside loop on an airplane) Many boomerangs are not intended to return (but how majorly boring is that?). The Arc trajectory is useful if you're hunting fowl and you scare the flock away from you but chase them into the returning boomerang. Much like a curveball fools the batter, the bird cannot avoid the changing trajectory. Cool concept if you're a hunter (which I'm not - can't bring myself to do that - also not very humane).
Not much, but it will give it more stability and help it stay in the air longer after the momentum is used up. If you get it right they tend to finish up descending almost vertically right in front of you, at that point the extra rotation speed will give more lift and a slower descent. Still bloody hard to catch though.
Your throwing the boomerang at the wrong angle, it does have to be a "reverse tomahawk" as you put it, but the angle of the boomerang needs to be 45 degrees on release. From Mitch - Australia
interesting yall say this about banggood. im new to the hobby and originally i went to get some stuff thru them knowing nothing about flite test. in over the month it took for me to get a email saying my stuff was no longer comming to me for some unknown reason i had come across flite test and ordered from you guys with the christmas money i had. not only was shipping fast but the response to my emails were great and fast and when i got your products they were great with lots of insturction and information to get me and my dad started in the hobby... we crash and build a lot more building than flying actually and im blown away that you guys give out free plans. that in itself is amazing for someone like me with little or no money to play with. without you guys i would not get to experience flying and spending time with my father. thanks for that really.
I dont know where we are getting so many that say hold at 45 degrees... ..Heck I used to hunt as a kid with ones I made ...little ones, Really big ones, micro ones...any size... The best way to 'fly' it is almost perfectly vertical, Right arm, top blade pointing forward, airfoil to left. Really toss it with an over arm toss like throwing a baseball. It will make a large circle to the left and return for you to catch. The circle should be about same height as your height...with it remaining same height throughout its full circle. In making them, the airfoil is what pulls it around the circle(lifts horizontally). Most Aborigine boomerangs have a a little of the lower part of the airfoil removed near the tips that effectively raise the angle of attack of the tip. The best ones are cut from a limb to truck joint from a small tree which utilizes the best grain direction for durability...but I have made quite a lot from just simple plywood. If they are big enough, and heavy enough you could kill a rabbit with them...and he wouldn't know what hit him as you dont throw it directly at target you throw it to right of target and it will hit target from right right while target it looking directly at you.(hunter)
Yo yo it's the boomerang pro here. Hold the boomerang at a 45 degree angle with the top pointing to the right ( if your right handed) and hold it with a "Reverse tomahawk" grip and just chuck it like you want to throw your arm out! Good luck and I look forward to seeing you guys at flight fest, keep it up!
I'd love to get build kits from you guys. I'm all for supporting the original designers. But when I have the choice between paying 45 bucks for shipping, 16 bucks for customs and 6 bucks VAT OR free shipping and no extra charges... it's kind of a hard sell here in Europe. I know you guys partnered up with Graupner in Germany, but with the high dollar conversions their prices aren't very appealing either. I'd love to pay a couple of extra dollars to support you guys, but over 4x the original amount is just too much for me. Sorry!
No guys boomarangs are an art thing just as cool as the foam... its almost a tomahawk throw with some offset intro the wind... I did it as a child and for you guys to do a design and make it work would be a really good concept. One of my favorite ones is the Egyptian "A" frame boomarangs
to throw a boomerang, hold vertical with the flat side to your palm and at 45 degrees from the wind i.e, if the wind is straight in front of you(12 o'clock throw at 2 o'clock or 10 o'clock if your a lefty). and throw straight out in front (not up) . i find having the tips facing forward () also the more spin the better i find just as your letting go pull your hand back to add extra rotation. please don't throw it flat as it goes straight up and can come down straight and very fast and as the wind is blowing back in your direction it can be quite deadly,
BanGGood is what it is. Folks roll the dice on quality to save money. Considering the startup cost of getting into this hobby, it's hard to discount BG right away unless we're tricked into buying knockoff. I hate to think we can't get more people involved because we're encouraged to avoid these online shops. My favorite startup flier is the Eachine H8 mini RTF. At $14, I wouldn't be here if it weren't for them. FuriBee F36 from GearBest, same thing. These Chinese sellers got me hooked and now I want to expand and get in deep.
crimsonfancy same here I wouldn't be in the hobby if it wasn't for them. Yes it's a shame they got copied but when you can get it for around 12 dollars total including shipping compared to 26 it only makes sense. Especially if you are just starting out
crimsonfancy I agree, the true hobbyists, arnt going to buy Banggood. But Banggood is a good place to get your feet wet for people like me who want to "try it before we buy it" per say. lol Banggood got me my first transmitter, which got me hooked, which is forcing me to save my money and get a better transmitter from FT.
You can get hooked easily enough using a couple dollars worth of foamboard and the free plans from flite test. The experience you get from building an airplane also helps you further down the road. A pretty inexpensive and rewarding path to take from the getgo. That's my .02
Bangood and other Chinese shops are the surest way to the death of your local shop. Simply put: DO NOT BUY FROM THEM. I don't care if they help people "get into the sport". WAY more people have been helped by the likes of Flite test, and that all goes away if we allow the Chinese rip-off artists to flood the market with cheap crappy copies. NO CHINESE JUNK, DO NOT BUY FROM CHINA.
Julian Waters ok, so one scratch builds an FT design, just like I did. Now what? You need electronics to fly it right? Enter cheap Banggood. If you hate it, you haven't lost much. If u love it, you replace your cheap stuff with better stuff.
I've kind of always assumed it's extra fill from construction sites... but it doesn't ever seem to change shape. However, the top of the pile is flattened by machinery.
Well........ Their land and building was formally a golf driving range and pro shop. The land has been receiving "free" fill to level out the grade for use by the next owners. Rumor is that FliteTest is moving and there is already plans for their old land. Stay tuned, Josh has made a few references to these facts a while ago...
I'm not a customer of Flite Test or Banggood or anyone but I have really enjoyed your videos. You guys are great. I do cheap stuff all the time. I don't expect spectacular results from it but sometimes I'm surprised. What I really respect about Flite Test is that they put out free designs so people can go and build them from Dollar Store foam board. What could be cheaper than that? Nothing will keep knock-off artists from selling your designs however I agree that patronizing knock-off artists isn't good for the hobby. Also, you guys sell really affordable parts, even with some added shipping costs. I guess the bottom line is people have to do what they can afford. I personally have a boatload of respect for Flite Test and I like the great ideas you have. Keep up the good work.
I can tell that Josh is a little bit mad but I would be too if my product was ripped off, was a lower quality than what I'm selling, and costs more. Flite test all the way✊🏼
They are also ripping off your ft explorer and the Spear. I dont know if this is directly banggood or thier suppliers. Im in Australia and the difference between a emaxx motor from bangood and the USA is about 100%. It literally costs me at least double to buy from america, bangood will deliver for free ( if i wanna wait a month ) or in 2 weeks ( if i wanna pay like $2 ). On the other hand i expect about 1 in 4 thing to fail. I have bought alot through them, the planes copied from you wont be on the list tho, i have built about 7 arrows three vectors a baby baron a mini f22 and have the plans printed for a sparrow and explorer ready to go, and did you see the way that wing snapped lol. But i have bought alot of commonents through them and had 1 motor fail from new, a batch of props so thin they would flex at 10rpm, heatshrink carbon fiber wrapp that didnt heat shrink, a reciever that failed from new causeing 3 planes to crash ( arrows :( ) due to it being intemittent from new, and with all that im still up by at least 25% due to cheap prices and really really cheap shipping to Australia. This is why it makes me angry when i see 3 of your planes on there siite, i buy alot throught them so i can build your planes, now im conflicted. But i do love you guys and i did even sign up to your shop but the frieght doubled the price of my order, for us in Australia its hard to compete with asia ( just above us ) cheap frieght prices, i just wish they built quality as well, not to mention thier own stuff lol.
Boomerang tip: once you are facing the wind, turn yourself 45• to your right. Now throw the boomerang to the front with a 10• angle. From that throw, you will figure out what correctoons you have to do 😉
Personally I love BangGood, I'm in the UK and I pay the extra £2 and it's always delivered in 2 weeks. On the odd occasion I've had an issue with an item, they have answered my e-mails the next day, and replaced/refunded with no question. I've spent far too much money with them and I've received excellent service. Sure, some of their products are really cheap and crap, but you get what you pay for. FT used to be sponsored by Hobby King who were just as bad in selling cheap 'clones' and were recently threatened with prosecution by Spektrum in the USA for their Orange module and receiver sales. HK didn't really keep up with quads and since their web site change - they've lost it.
Wow I kept getting the same computer generated email every day for over two months . They are not going to send me a replacement part so i bought it from somewhere else
I'm guessing that stuff like this is why I came back into the hobby after a long hiatus and spent a long time trying to figure out why I couldn't find the plans to build a simple scout. Took me some searching to find out they just flat out aren't available anymore. I ended up buying the kit and screwed up one of the pieces. Very disappointed the kit doesn't even come with a template. Dug around and found an old copy of the plans. Rescued my build.
Boomerang: Throw it tomahawk style, open V forward, vertical orientation, throw straight at horizon, if you are throwing right hand, curved side should face left. It should fly in a circle turning left. It should make a full 360, then spiral down overhead in an mostly flat orientation. Boomerang turns because because front side of the spinning airfoil is always making more lift than the back side so it wants to arc. I love throwing my boomerangs and I have the scars to prove it. :) On copying designs, unfortunately isn't that the accepted Chinese business model? It seems many Chinese companies follow this knock off practice.
Not advocating chinese copying, but banggood is just a wholesaler. They have absolutely nothing to do with manufacturing. Also Eachine had nothing to do with this plane, and them getting brought up made the whole complaint end up sounding like a butthurt rant. Competition is what spurs innovation. Not monopolies.
I've never bought anything from BG, and never will - don't care at all for their ethics, or lack thereof... I'd much rather support you guys than someone that rips off other creators. BTW.... Did you remember to register that boomerang with the FAA? LOL I made a couple many years ago - got fairly decent with it, too.. I used the reverse tomahawk throw that Alex was using. Fortunately I didn't have a dirt mountain in my backyard!
And throw it almost against the wind, the wind will bring it back more or less depending the angle to the wind. Throw it slightly up the horizon, hold it 60 to 45 degree and make the boomerang spin while tossing... Btw: Seems to have too little airfoil shape -> big circles
You could order from Flite Test directly, but shipping and customs might be expensive. The only other option I know is Graupner who does the European distribution. Perhaps they shop to Morroco? Check out graupner.com/flitetest - I am not sure if this would be a less expensive option.
Got a boomerang from Aussie rellies when I was a kid (1970's)...practiced and practiced until 1 day, it came back and hit me in my right side ! Downed by my own shot !
The trouble for us Europeans is there are very few shops selling drone parts that ship to Europe with a reasonable cost. Even fewer ones that stock the "not-so-high-end" parts that I could actually afford. I dislike Banggood for their knockoffs but at the same time they are just about the only shop that sells what I need.
Flite Fest South Please!! Plenty of nice fields here in TX to fly from. As for trustworthy retailers, MotionRC gets my vote particularly for their customers service.
So some things about boomerangs, originally there were two sorts of hunting boomerangs, neither of which were meant to come back to you. The first style was designed to fly straight, literally just meant to throw it at small land animals to stun or kill them, and the second kind is meant to curve around behind flocks of birds and other land animals and drive them towards other hunters who would then kill them with spears and other weapons. The idea of a boomerang being thrown and then coming full circle to be caught again is a very modern one.
If it wasn't for banggood. I wouldn't be in the hobby, too many industries are asking for too much for their mediocre products. I'd say its a good thing that we have an access to cheap clones, so we can stay in the air longer. Also I know some clones that are also better than originals.
Sometimes your local hobby shop sucks...Mine is about 47 miles out of the way in one direction, they charge $50 for Emax motors you can buy online for $19 and I remember when I asked them about 4S lipos the owner laughed at me and said "pfffft who would want to go over 100km/h we don't sell 4S" and these are people that "race" drone pretty sure NONE of them would even know what my KISS setup was :\ Oh and they have a sign on the till that says "NO WARRANTYS OR REFUNDS" Honestly how could anyone want to support that kind of business?
Hj Aviation I try to support my local hobby shop... but they are about an hour and a half from where I live. Whenever I go to that town I make sure to stop by and pick up something
Yeah I've been trying to support my local hobby shops and its next to impossible.. if it's not the main stream hobby, they dont have it or dont care about it. Out of 2 big hobby shops in my city only one of them even had control horns for planes. (A very basic necessity for building planes) the one that had some only had 2 in stock and I need like 8.. i waited 2 weeks for them to order more and they of course could care less to re stock such a basic piece, and in that time i could have ordered what i needed online in half the time and half the costs. The reason hobby shops cant survive is bacause of their mark up which they think they need because they have such low volume of sales. But in reality if they took a much smaller profit they'd have huge increase in sales and would probably end up reviving the hobby since you could buy everything local and not wait on shipping..
You gotta throw the boomerang on a 45 degree, you figure it's gonna do a half circle back on a 45 oh yeah you gotta throw it the reverse tomahawk style to
If you look for United States market only, you're right. Simply doesn't make sense buy from BG when you have everything available on local stores for same price, or original products for little extra money. But in the rest of the world, people have lots of trouble to buy from USA. I'm from Brazil, and if BG did not exist, I simply could not start on this hobby.
Ok so facing into the wind. To the right aprroximately 30 degrees. U want to hold it like a tomahawk and throw it towards the horizon . Not completely vertical but just slightly have the top end 15 degrees or so outwards. The idea is to make do a full circle. Then it should rise up and helicopter down to u.
I would love to see a ballistic parachute for a helicopter or as you prefer quad copter or airplane. kind of like an Oh Crap Switch, and boom, release, i'm floating to recovery???
Your store is the best, good stuff and very fast shipping. I love to see you guys do the limbo with your planes. How about a top gun cockpit to cockpit video.
Josh bixler is a good dude for real. Instead of getting upset you just simply showed how poorly the knock off was and stated your opinions and moved on.much respect brother
I was about to order a qx7 transmitter from bang good, then this video made them lose my business. Ill wait till you guys have it. or if you guys have any recommendations.
Well I don't think anyone in North America has them FrSky is a Chinese company and it seems like only retailers in China have managed to snag this controller so far. You can also watch getfpv.com if you are in the USA they are out of Florida and the owner Tim is awesome, they would ship that radio to you for free with 2 day shipping if you are state side. They are out of stock on it at them moment though.
Elijah Vivio - ProgressiveRC has them in stock.. not trying to promote them as much as help someone get the radio they want soon.. I work there, so if this comment detracts from from the validity that they are a reputable US company, please ask some others in the hobby.. Theres many great North American and Chinese companies out there .. no need for one company's approval of certain products to diminish a country's reputation.. Have fun guys!
Aloft is in the US and are a Premium FrSky dealer and regularly get QX7 shipments. Unlike BG, they also sell at MSRP (BG has been charging $120USD+ for QX7's that are $105USD retail). FliteTest store also has had stock.

The cost to ship by UPS to outside the U.S is very high and makes parts and large models very expensive to get to N.Z.
Theyre right next to new zealand or right above it anyway. and your a long way from the US.
The boomerang scared me a little. Those things are SUPER dangerous. They are precisely flying blades.
....FUN as hell though!
don't know if y'all have ever heard of a N9Mb flying wing, but I just finished building one and hope to fly it soon. this is my second drive shaft setup first being a P39 with the motor set in the full scale location behind the pilot. the system works great for me. also on the N9Mb project, I do have the split drag rudders on the tips from the full scale plane as well. so far it's been a great project I've been enjoying building.
hi was wondering if in your free plans you could include printing size so that the plains that we build are the write size
I wonder if a faster rotation on the boomerang will curve it more in flight
Not much, but it will give it more stability and help it stay in the air longer after the momentum is used up. If you get it right they tend to finish up descending almost vertically right in front of you, at that point the extra rotation speed will give more lift and a slower descent. Still bloody hard to catch though.
Your throwing the boomerang at the wrong angle, it does have to be a "reverse tomahawk" as you put it, but the angle of the boomerang needs to be 45 degrees on release. From Mitch - Australia
You should totally chase that boomerang with a drone!!!
if right handed, stand with your left side angled into the wind and throw it as alex held it at a 45 degree angle into the wind
interesting yall say this about banggood. im new to the hobby and originally i went to get some stuff thru them knowing nothing about flite test. in over the month it took for me to get a email saying my stuff was no longer comming to me for some unknown reason i had come across flite test and ordered from you guys with the christmas money i had. not only was shipping fast but the response to my emails were great and fast and when i got your products they were great with lots of insturction and information to get me and my dad started in the hobby... we crash and build a lot more building than flying actually and im blown away that you guys give out free plans. that in itself is amazing for someone like me with little or no money to play with. without you guys i would not get to experience flying and spending time with my father. thanks for that really.
Does anybody know what we Australians call a Boomerang that doesn't come back ? ......."A STICK".....lol
11 minutes of "out of topic" stuff and a minute of plane review
Sorry!
LONG LIVE FLIGHT TEST!!! You guys were a substantial part of me getting back into the hobby. I love you guys very much!!!
If u love it, you replace your cheap stuff with better stuff.
isn't banggood just a retailer? I've bought brand name, or at least as brand name as chinese products can be, from there before.
They own eachine
The way Alex described the boomerang the first time was the correct way I'm pre sure
How did you cut that bevel cut so well?
Master Josh teaches "The Art of Cutting Foam Board" in Zen schools ;-)
what david cutter track in begin?
Even in light wind, please wear a helmet while kiting. Loved the video though!
Even if you stay on the ground and just play with the wing a little to get a feel for it? Is there a chance of you getting lifted unexpectedly?
For sure, one of my friends just broke 3 ribs and a vertebrae kiting on sand.
Why there is a giant pile of dirt? I've always wondered this
I've kind of always assumed it's extra fill from construction sites... but it doesn't ever seem to change shape. However, the top of the pile is flattened by machinery.
it does slowly get bigger, it was a lot smaller in the vids when they first moved to that location
Well........ Their land and building was formally a golf driving range and pro shop. The land has been receiving "free" fill to level out the grade for use by the next owners. Rumor is that FliteTest is moving and there is already plans for their old land. Stay tuned, Josh has made a few references to these facts a while ago...
ah.... i see the driving range building/land now... always wondered why the building is so oddly designed.
Not sure why, but in the timelapse at 2:06, you can see a dump truck at the top of the pile.
Q. What do you call a boomerang that doesn't come back? A. A stick.
I can tell that Josh is a little bit mad but I would be too if my product was ripped off, was a lower quality than what I'm selling, and costs more. Flite test all the way✊🏼
What do you call a boomerang that doesn't come back? A stick.
Josh, bicycle helmet and shoes with ankle support. All it takes is one random gust to ruin your day.
Here is the best tips for throwing a boomerang and they are, first ''Throw it where you don't want it to go'' and second ''Duck''
you guys dont ship your products worldwide right?
From that throw, you will figure out what correctoons you have to do 😉
I have a tip for the boomerang. Stick to drones.
2 weeks damn I can get whatever 1 day or 2
Wow I kept getting the same computer generated email every day for over two months . They are not going to send me a replacement part so i bought it from somewhere else
2:05 what is that on the dirt mound?
Yup, end dump
you guys ought to figure out a way to gyro stabilize a gopro on the boomerang.
Alex the boomerang fetching mountain goat!
Tip for boomerang throwing: stick to flying airplanes, and drones. They're moderately safer. ;)
On copying designs, unfortunately isn't that the accepted Chinese business model? It seems many Chinese companies follow this knock off practice.
OMG! I´m so excited that you guys are finally getting into paragliding!
2:13
"Is that a koala?"
"Dude... that's a boomerang." I don't even know how to react to this...
Always wondered what’s being constructed on that big dirt hill?
I've never bought anything from BG, and never will - don't care at all for their ethics, or lack thereof... I'd much rather support you guys than someone that rips off other creators.
BTW.... Did you remember to register that boomerang with the FAA? LOL I made a couple many years ago - got fairly decent with it, too.. I used the reverse tomahawk throw that Alex was using. Fortunately I didn't have a dirt mountain in my backyard!
I make boomerangs and you throw it with the curve facing yourself and at a 45 degree angle so it will turn
And throw it almost against the wind, the wind will bring it back more or less depending the angle to the wind.
Throw it slightly up the horizon, hold it 60 to 45 degree and make the boomerang spin while tossing...
Btw: Seems to have too little airfoil shape -> big circles
is there a flight fest east?
David M in july
how can i get this in morroco?? 😢😢 i like it so match
You could order from Flite Test directly, but shipping and customs might be expensive. The only other option I know is Graupner who does the European distribution. Perhaps they shop to Morroco? Check out graupner.com/flitetest - I am not sure if this would be a less expensive option.
Apparently bong hits before throwing the boomerang was not such as great idea.
hey Alex, think you can chase a boomerang with your race quad?
that boomerang😂😂😂😂😂
Got a boomerang from Aussie rellies when I was a kid (1970's)...practiced and practiced until 1 day, it came back and hit me in my right side ! Downed by my own shot !
less than a month until flitefest!!!!!
Just registered for Flitefest West! Super excite!
as much as I hate buying knock off. a 25 dollar frame is more appealing than a 125. (alien)
Ear to ear grin from this episode guys, keep it up! By the way... just purchased a sparrow for no reason other than supporting the innovators. Thx
Love ya Brother!
Alex with that savagery at 11:24
much insults to Australia
guys you have to do a chalenge where you make a boomerang fly with 2 or 3 engines, kinda like a quad
Pro tip: Don't laugh scornfully every time you hear the word 'aboriginal.' It comes off somewhat racist.
Tips: Laugh a little louder. Love you guys!
You need to try using boomerangs to knock planes out of the air
Flite Fest South Please!! Plenty of nice fields here in TX to fly from. As for trustworthy retailers, MotionRC gets my vote particularly for their customers service.
They say support the original designer and then they use Apple products. Wouldn't say Apple has great innovation
Put a moter, mini one cell and come control surfaces and you have a mini boomer wing.
Speaking of the hobby coming to a standstill can you do a video on supporting local hobby shops? It would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!
They already did.
Sometimes your local hobby shop sucks...Mine is about 47 miles out of the way in one direction, they charge $50 for Emax motors you can buy online for $19 and I remember when I asked them about 4S lipos the owner laughed at me and said "pfffft who would want to go over 100km/h we don't sell 4S" and these are people that "race" drone pretty sure NONE of them would even know what my KISS setup was :\
Oh and they have a sign on the till that says "NO WARRANTYS OR REFUNDS"
Honestly how could anyone want to support that kind of business?
Illumiquadi yeah mines about an hour out and there 9gram servos are about 20 dollars to much. props motors everything is over priced.
You guys are definitely NUTS!
put 2 motors on the boomerang so it spins around really fast for a long time.
I would go to flitefest but I have to go on a large family vacation. We are sadly leaving on the first day that it starts😭
You gotta throw the boomerang on a 45 degree, you figure it's gonna do a half circle back on a 45 oh yeah you gotta throw it the reverse tomahawk style to
Oh they didnt buy the return to home button for it. thats what they get for being cheap :)
Tip: Alex, low rise pants are not your friend.
Boomerang fly as hard as you can challenge!
Austin's got the right idea except you throw it at a 45degree angle.
Always cut towards you - FliteTest
Ya GOTA put power to the BOOMerang...call it the KA-Boomerang motors and props. Rev directions...MAKE It FLY!
throw into the wind.. point out... at about 45 degrees of angle...
And u really need to flick it. Throw like u never want to see it again.
Dear FliteTest. Please start designing and selling FT boomerangs.
Do a giant rc paraglider with the tmotor stuff
Come on guys isn't the Sparrow a knock off of the Mini Talon?
So Banggood is the Thermaltake of the R/C industry?
Josh bixler is a good dude for real. Instead of getting upset you just simply showed how poorly the knock off was and stated your opinions and moved on.much respect brother
First there was an Old Fogey copy, now this...
Yes you should definitely wait to buy a qx7 made in US
Aloft is in the US and are a Premium FrSky dealer and regularly get QX7 shipments. Unlike BG, they also sell at MSRP (BG has been charging $120USD+ for QX7's that are $105USD retail).
FliteTest store also has had stock.
Thanks man, i was just looking at aloft, good to know they are liked. Ill probably go with them if flite test doesn't get them soon
Corbar hobbies in Aurora and Littleton Colorado. Love this store and Super and knowledgeable RC folks
just one suggestion for using a boomerang. Google it!
