I've been watching you for years hank and I just wanted to say that you're one of the most talented people I've ever seen. You're such a legend. Much love.
Agreed! My son loves watching these videos and he learns so much from them. I have used a few for homeschool lessons 😊 Thanks for keeping it kid friendly!
gosh, your videos need to be about 2 hours longer each time, I can never get enough hearing the things you teach- congrats on the 1 million, u deserve many more :D
This almost brought me to tears - the majesty, beauty, awe, power, and wonder in what you two managed to capture here is TRULY breathtaking. Hank, simply put, you've more than outdone yourself with this project. A heartfelt congrats to you and Paul for capturing this, and presenting it to us! I made my family drop what they were doing just to watch this show. Amazing. Simply amazing.
I second what Tom said! My family loves your videos as well and it doesn’t matter what it is. It could be weather or traveling. Honestly you’re what we love the most. You’re an absolute legend my friend.
I think he is one of the guys who first discovers something, never a human documented before :0 He clearly makes history and we can watch it for free here :0 This is amazing!
Awesome man, Paul Smith is the red sprite man! When I started lightning photography in 2008, i made it my bucket list shot, knowing no one had ever captured it properly. Then in 2016 I shot some awesome lightning storms in Philippines, didn’t notice them until Paul pointed it out. Now he captures them like no one ever before, he’s totally got it figured out. Huge respect, to both of you!
It was you and your previous captures of these TLE Sprites that made me first aware of such a phenomenon and your description back then explained it well in its entirety, but to see the effects in a real-time comparison is something really quite unique and hits home the process taking place. Absolutely beautiful and educational (with your personality to polish). Kudos to Paul for the team effort too.
That spark of excitement when the +CGs and Sprites fire is difficult to understand unless you've experienced it yourself, never gets old. Great video as always man.
i have trauma relating to thunderstorms, but i just cant get enough of your videos hank. listening to you explain everything and watching your footage is oddly soothing. congrats on one million subs!!
Dude, I LOVE your content on TLEs and lightning. Tornadoes are *always* interesting but there’s something about a vast electrical explosion that connects the ground to the edge of the atmosphere. TLEs are truly cutting edge and never anything other than completely fascinating
I always called horizontally extensive ground flashes, “sky splitters” and live for the opportunity to see them. They’re one of life’s greatest visual thrills and they never fail to stop my heart with wonder. I first heard about sprites a few years ago and have been fascinated with them and blue jets ever since. Fantastic videos as always, Hank! 💗⚡️
When Paul mentioned he hoped he wouldn't get bugged by the cops, I can still imagine an officer on patrol rolling up to check on things and have Paul show him (possibly) his first sprites ever seen.
this video genuinely had me in awe, fantastic camera work from the both of you! those shots of the anvil crawler lightning creeping across the night sky were truly spectacular, i'm proud to say i've been following your channel since the el reno twister of 2013 and hope to see more amazing content from you in the future
I am honestly astonished by what you have uploaded so far to this channel over the years Hank, you are by far one of the best content creators within meteorology. Thanks for providing educational resource and compiling this wonderful experience.
Lovely video. Since I was a child I was so fascinated by the glimpse of a flash in the sky. This man has been through all! From fascinating tornadoes to enormous supercells. Helping animals and exploring in the tropics for me is one of the most heartwarming channel! Keep it up Pecos we love you man 🎇
Nice to see you back with with Paul back look at sprites and lighting. It's so incredible that you guys discovered green ghosts! Can't wait to see your list of last years tornados!
I'd kill to see some really slow-mo footage of red sprites, like with a proper high speed camera shooting a few hundreds of thousands of frames per second, just to see how the patterns of the sprites propagate. It'd make some killer footage.
It's such an obvious experiment to make. But actually going through with the huge effort to do it, coordinate it and produce a video about it for us to see is just something else. Chapeau and thank you so much for that.
Thank God your back. You can only watch reruns so much and congratulations to 1 million subscribers. Not surprised one bit but still congratulations 👏👏👏
Hank, thanks to you I've found my burning passion for weather! Im almost done with high school and didn't know what i wanted to do in the future for a long time. I've decided to seek a career in atmospheric science! I adore your videos, and I'm so excited to see where this channel goes in the future :)
Hank, this is one fascinating video. The way that you and your colleague were able to "line up" video footage to pin down what was happening above as well as below the storm is particularly fascinating; your work here reminds me of your video where you worked out the speed of one of the Pilger tornadoes by mapping its motion using videos of the same tornado from several different chasers
This is amazing and beautiful, I've been watching you since 2017 and I've never seen a disappointing video ever. Thank you for making these amazing videos!
Hey man, been watching your videos for the better part of a decade now (which makes me feel damn old). I'm currently a student at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, and I've always DREAMED of seeing if there were some way to invite you out to give a presentation of some sort. If that's of any interest to you, let me know and perhaps I could talk to some of the higher-ups to see if we can make something happen. Thanks again for your miraculous cinematography and clever narration. Keep up the good work!
The teamwork involved in creating this video and the detailed explaining of what is going on is worthy of any movie/tv award.Your video productions just keep getting better and better!
You’re freaking amazing dude. Not only capturing the awe and beauty of storms, but contributing to and furthering meaningful scientific data and research. Bravo
Hey, Hank, nice to hear from you again! It's always a pleasure to see more of that "real lightning" you get down there in the Southland. I gotta tellya, if we ever saw red sprites like that up here in the Northeast, well, we might think that's the end of the world up here! That was so awesome! I would think it to be a truly cosmic event if I ever saw the red sprites for real. Here's to a very intense Storm Chasing Season for you in 2023! Happy Trails!
This will be jointly my favourite lightning video. Can't mistake your beautiful music surrounding the Anvil Crawler lightning and that phenomenon! Now we're jointly observing sprites at two polar opposites! Thank you!
Your video drops are always a special event, gotta first get myself a drink and switch to landscape orientation before watching. I always love the "atmosphere" created by the combinatin of images, narration, editing, natural soundscape and music choices. Keep it up dude!
Words can't express how excited I was to see a new vid from Hank about LIGHTNING!! OMG, it was so fun hearing you both exclaim at the same time. I always thought that positive strikes were associated with TLEs, now I see for sure!
OMG that camera work is CRAZY exciting!! Thank you both for the experience shared through your lenses. Beautiful to observe and then to be able to capture it, then show it slowed in duality, just WOW!!
Been watching for 6 years congratulations on 1 mil subs Waiting for tornados of 2022 because I’m pretty sure you chased in my home town of Alexandria Minnesota
Great video, cool to see the same events from multiple perspectives. As always your editing style & music choices are really fitting as well, the audio of the intro really sets the mood.

The Philippines get some mighty, serious storms.
I can't imagine the sprites that are going on above them.
