  • Wildfires up and down the Cascade range, still air and heat flirting with triple digits on this August trip. We tracked mustangs for miles we couldn't close in a quarter mile- just left dust in the wind where they stood. In a way, even that was rewarding, tracking these wild spirits and wild as the wind, disappearing before us. Read more:

Not anymore. This was before the BLM roundups. Most of these beautiful horses are gone and the genes that produced them lost forever 💔.

Hi Meg. What a lovely video. I am hoping you can help me. I adopted a mustang from the Warm Springs HMA in September 2019 and would love to find a photo of him in the wild, but do not know who to get in touch with. He was 3 when I got him so was foaled in 2016. I have his information and photos and his auction video is still up on RUclips. If you can help me or know someone who photographs mustangs from that area please reply. Thank you in advance.

Horses have been in the Americas since their conception. Basically 55 million years until 10-7,000 years (as fossil evidence contests), the species died out. Though, a tooth in Mexico could relieve horses may have died out about 3,000 years ago, or there about. Rather than 10,000.
What I find most disheartening. Is there are no more wild horses in the world any where. Evidence has shown that also the Mongolian horse was domesticated at one time.
Well, literally, all Mongolian horses are descended from 11 or 12 individuals, separate from mustangs, by the way, also; essentially domesticated in zoos.
My point is, the horse, no matter where you look at it was wiped out by domestication.
Mustangs likely came from a close relative, but separate from the Mongolian horse. However, both groups would probably not have survived if it had not been the human enchantment with the horse.
Not only it’s utility, but it’s beauty and strength. What I have a problem with is the horse has been here, rather , the animal the horse evolved here; the United States.
So, if the wild horse is invasive, then everywhere else, they are too, so where are they native?
    So, otherwise they are gone..

As soon as you name an animal its no longer a wild and free animal. And besides who are you to name a wild animal, what if I had totally different names for these animals what names should we go by.
