I watched this video last night and was perplexed by the comment, "power drops off at 3,000 RPM". I thought, jeez i never noticed that, so I took my '07 G.W. out for a ride today, and it keeps pulling all the way to red line, you can hardly hold on to it. These bikes are an absolute joy to own and ride, but they do have a learning curve, maybe you were just afraid of it.
Lol yes I'm very afraid of it you nailed it ;) The comment means it is tuned for low end rpm performance vs bikes that are tuned for high end. Some bikes continue to pull faster the higher they rev. I'm simply noting the sensation and observation as I do with each review.
The evaluation of engine power is not correct. I have a 12 wing that was dnyo tested by a friend. The 1832 cc engine delivers 105hp and 115ftlbs of torque up to 5k rpms. Rear wheel numbers.
If I'm not mistaken Honda changed the torque and Horsepower curve on the F6B over the Goldwing because even though people use them for the same purpose they were actually designed to do different things (Goldwing touring) (F6B) Cruising .
compared to other motorcycle reviews, yours are pure class. No swearing, always nicely balanced between ride feel and information on the bikes. Keep it up! Great work. Just reduce the sound level of your startup animation jingle.
I've had my F6B for over two years, never had a problem with scraping my boots when making a left. I have installed floor boards with heal toe shifter after about a year, but that was for comfort.
For a large bike it handles surprisingly well. I own a GoldWing and have ridden the F6B.i really enjoyed it. It was my first choice, but the wife said the Full Size Wing!!! If momma ain't happy....nobody is happy!
Our boy Chris would disown you if you ever changed from your fully dressed Goldwing to an F6B Mike...... lol ps - enjoy your videos too as well as Chris's
Henry Beaudry LoL. I think he would still keep me in the entourage' tho!!!! I was just at his house over the weekend. Got some Lighting Bling put on it!!!!!!!!
I owned the 2012 Harley Road Glide Ultra..Great road bike with all honesty..Road it from east coast to California and back in 8 days..with it sitting in Vegas for 3. My only complaint was I hated the heat it put out in traffic. I now own a Honda Gl1800 and had to make some modifications to the peg system and had my seat custom redesigned where I sit a little farther back, taking away a little seat from the passenger..but now it is the most comfortable bike I have ever ridden...and I've ridden them all. My suggestion to Honda in the future would be to redesign the tranny where she has a true overdrive..it could come down some rpms at road speeds to give better fuel #'s, that would keep riders like me from rushing to fuel stops so often...The engine can handle it.
This bike can easily handle a true overdrive- a sixth gear. I own a 2013 model, and Honda doing this would be enough for me to do a trade in for what I believe is a real trade up. This locomotive like engine could benefit from a 15 to 20% reduction in r.p.m.'s in top gear. With this beast purring at 75 m.p.h., and getting a boost also in fuel economy.
It must be different strokes kind of thing I love my F6B and I zero issues with handling, I ride the dragon a few times a year and I can keep with anyone on a sportbike with no drama at all. I agree with the shield i added a Laminar Lip and it fixed the wind issue
I test rode a 2017 model F6B last week (which i'm buying). Regarding your thoughts about shift pedal. I found it very easy and enough room to get my boot (size 12) on top, and under the shifter. Were you wearing huge boots or have jumbo feet?
I like my old Yamaha FJR, but the new one has six speeds instead of five, electronic adjustable suspension, cruise control, and it still has that awesome push-button extendable/retractable windscreen. Sometimes, I take the hard cases off and go for a ride. It really grabs people's attention when they see the bike without bags because they usually can't figure out what it is until they get really close. I wish that Honda would make a more "naked" gold Wing focused more on sport and less on gadgets.
I have an 08 Wing and I went with the heel/toe shifter because of that feel. Floorboards and a heel/toe make these bikes SO much nicer. Not sure about the sport bike comment. I had my front tire off the ground on my Wing through the first two gears!
I love my f6b. because it is lean angle is limited, I have to change body position off the side and I can take any sharp curve the road can throw at me. she handles amazing through the curves when you know how to take them on this bike.
Really like the GoldWing bikes. Peerless Honda quality. The silhouette of the F6B reminds me of a Harley RoadGlide quite a bit. What a sexy machine. Great review bud.
Definitely looks similar to a Goldwing, designed specifically for long distance riding, in comfort. Definitely going to need a higher windshield, I can hear the wind. Great review!
8:29 "Whoa, that is the lean angle. This sucker does not like to lean that much." That's never been an issue with this bike. Any of the GL1800 platforms can be tossed around through the twisties. Perhaps a little more practice is needed.
+Tom C I agree. Look on U Tube. There is a late model Yellow Goldwing that holds the record for running the Tail of the Dragon video. I put a fork brace on my F6B and it handles like a sport bike in the mountains, power, speed, balance, and great brakes.
I love your reviews better than any body elses .Your detailed description is amazing . I was wondering if you could do one on the CTX 700n and the Rocket 3 roadster and touring ??
I love your honest comments about things that really do matter. Although would prefer to see you get on a longer drives on more diverse roads instead of these short demo rides. But frankly I think it's very good anyway, keep up the good work 👍
Wish Honda still called this model an F6B and not Gold Wing .. never thought I would own a Gold Wing but I do now .. lots of improvements of course with the new ones
Usually in the slave cylinder for the clutch, there is a small plate with holes in it to restrict the flow of fluid and thus smoothing out the clutch operation, Sportbikes tend not to have this feature as well as sports cars, sometimes you can remove the small plate.
Negatives > too big - too heavy - too expensive - cumbersome at slow speeds - only good on the highway Positives > very smooth - very reliable - carries two in comfort - eats up the highway miles with ease
I would like to get a touring bike one day. Can afford it now but I'm seriously thinking about it. The only one I'd considered for a long time was the Goldwing. But this offers some alternative.
For such a big touring bike, I am surprised it does not have floor boards instead of pegs. A heel-toe shifter would also be easier and useful to get your boot out of the way in corners. Will stick with my 2010 HD RG.
Seems like the biggest complaints of the shifter and the windscreen seem to both stem from the fact they're trying to make a Goldwing look "cool" like a cruiser. I'm surprised that it doesn't have a gear indicator though. I love mine on my Triumph Trophy.
Love the looks too. But can see the where that short windshield wouldn't be ideal for long rides. I think they should have not left off the electric reverse in such a heavy bike, which you get on the Goldwing.
Complete review and you weren't opposed to expressing flaws like the shifter set-up. Have you driven a BMW K 1600 GT/GTL model? That's what I ride for it handles very well in turns although it too is a flat 6.
I see plenty of Goldwings here in the Netherlands, in fact it can be safely said that we are a Bike country, the popularity of bikes mostly comes from the Bike drivers license being A LOT cheaper than a car license.
Why not make some brief comparisons to like priced competitors like victory magnum or street glide? Seems like a review comparison to a super duke.... lol That said lots of through descriptions but brief comparisons opinion would be super interesting in my opinion. Thanks for the review.
Instead of Honda changing the shift peg or foot peg position, you might watch "A Twist of the Wrist" by Keith Code (videos 1 & 2). You should be in the right gear entering the turn and power out of the turn in that same gear, then you shift once you are out of the turn. You are not shifting in the turn or fiddling with the shifter as you come out of the turn... That is just poor riding knowledge. Seems Honda knows that about their experienced riders so they did not worry about those people who ride and shift in turns or shift as they are exiting a turn.... Nope, be in the right gear into the turn so that you can power out of the turn without shifting. Keep your foot out from under the shifter while you are turning. No professional rider (racers) will shift during a turn or as they just are coming out of a turn. They are straight up and down when they shift. It makes for better ground clearance so that your shoe does not touch down... Glad you found that out while riding the Honda F6B.
Fairly decent review Brian. Thank you. I'm a long time Honda and Goldwing guy. My first Wing back in 1985 when I purchased a new 1984 left over at the age of 35. I added this to my V65 Magna, 1979 R100S, R65 and a 84 Honda CH250. In the touring bike world I feel the Goldwing handles the best of all the touring bikes because of its low center of gravity. Surprising the shifter "space" is limited. You have a big foot? The front heaviness may be dealt with installing different progressive springs? Not being able to see the idiot lights in sun light is depressing. LOL
I bet the lack of space above the shift-lever is on purpose, so that long legged people can't have their feet slip off of the lever and the toes touch the ground while the heel is on the lever. That would rip off your foot instanteniously
Recognizing the passage of several years, but have the F6B's in the following years been upgraded to eliminate that foot peg issue? If not, what is it that can be modified in the area of the peg to correct the problem?? I'd like to try one of these but don't want problems with or near the critical operational areas.
When I do demo rides at my dealer, I can take the bike wherever I want, alone. When I delivered my brand new bike for the 1000 km service this week, they let me borrow a demo bike so I could get back to work. Returned it after work and picked up my own bike. Not sure if that's the norm in my country, but it's much better than this, for sure.
You said you would let us know at the end about the shifter issue with regards to the Goldwing but you never did. Did you get a chance to sit on one, and if so, did you have the same issue?
First of all I would so drop this bike just because I make mistakes that I can recover with the 650. I guess you have to turn slower than you can with a more agile bike and keep from diving too low. That shifter would end it for me also I always try to anticipate rather than react.
F6B handles like a dream this dude is just a nit picker and btw the bike is only as good as the rider so it doesn’t surprise me you’re having trouble in corners
Great review, thank you, Its hard to overlook this bike when your thinking of a cross over type look and ride, sporty in the one-up position and very comfortable for the wife on the back as well, and it's a freaking Gold Wing.
Whats the problem with shifting coming out of the turn...this bike has so much torque you can take off in 2nd or shift before the turn and get your foot up. how can you say you say the other gold wing must be higher but you aint going to ride one because it must be the same. if it is higher and you don't catch your foot it must ride different surely. apart from that good review
you are not supposed to rest your foot on the shifter. It is not a foot peg. If you could see the rotary shift drum pins and the shift Pawl and the hairpin spring to keep the shift shaft in a neutral position, poised to shift up or down, you would realize that preloading the shifter is a bad thing. It’s bad on shift forks also. You don’t drive your car with your foot on the brake pedal do you? If you have a standard shift car you don’t drive with your foot resting on the clutch pedal do you? You don’t ride your motorcycle With your foot on the shifter
your not suppose to ''rest'' your foot on top of the shift peg, your suppose to rest that on the foot peg....the bike reminds me of the chevy avalanche when it came out, remember we all saw them and said man thats nice if only it did not have to damn much plastic...i see a little overkill on the plastic some...great looking bike...but under the gas tank and all around the sides...but im hearing a lot of good feed back on them..
+Mark Jacob That's obvious and no one said anything about 'resting' on the shifter. I'm talking about simply putting your foot on top of it in order to shift or prepare to shift. The BMW 1600's do the same thing to me although not as bad. The engines simply get in the way for people with big feet.
Does anyone know what type of blue this is please ? I think it's metallic, but if anyone knows the name so I can get some more details of the exact shade of blue I'd appreciate it
Sounds like to me the bike is to state-of-the-art and has too many electronics on it to actually enjoy the ride. Part of the enjoyment of riding a motorcycle for me is to feel the road and feel the engine. I mean there's no other feeling like it if you take that away kind of boring.
Oh no... the Goldwing is probably the most famous bike in Europe and well known... You dont even need to say it is a Honda... that is implied... There are huge meetings all over Europe... Just a testimony for the popularity not only in the US but also in Europe...
I'm sorry I totally disagree with the cornering & shifting while on a corner, plus getting your shoe Under the peg. I had other Boots that worked on my 97 Valkyrie but not on this F6b. I moved to a laced up motorcycle shoe & No Problem . Lean very far on tight corners & come out fast , 48 yrs of riding .
I have a 13 Kawa vulcan vaquero 1700. this is probably the only bike I'd trade up for. I'm getting kind of sick how the Japanese manufacturers engineer their v-twins to be overly-rumbly. trying to be like Harley
I watched this video last night and was perplexed by the comment, "power drops off at 3,000 RPM". +TwoWheelObsession What is the usual type of engine that pulls all the way to the redline? That's the kind of engine I want to ride !
The evaluation of engine power is not correct. I have a 12 wing that was dnyo tested by a friend. The 1832 cc engine delivers 105hp and 115ftlbs of torque up to 5k rpms. Rear wheel numbers.

The F6B is a great long distance mount - my buddy in MD rode his 800+ miles in one day in relative comfort. Thanks for the review.

F6b handles so much better than the wing!
Loved the stereo on it too

I hear ya Mike...... I have quite a fit of "Lighting Bling" on my Goldwing! :)
is the f6b not full size?

Dinky Dot I have a2016 F6B I absolutely love it. Does the windshield you got stop the buffeting on the top your helmet

Late reply but check on the Valkarie if you haven't

I have never had a problem with shifting while corning or felt any drop off in power. And I wear a size 13 boot just for the record :-(
the amount of torque this bike has tells me he is the wrong gear for the turn
Yeah, size 15 here. Never had an issue. Only thing I can figure is maybe he has his heel centered on the foot peg? Which is kind of silly.
I live in Northern Thailand and I'm wondering how it would do in the mountains and the curves!
Really like the GoldWing bikes. Peerless Honda quality. The silhouette of the F6B reminds me of a Harley RoadGlide quite a bit. What a sexy machine. Great review bud.
My dad has this exact same bike. Love riding it. Plenty of power and comfort. I feel it pulls harder than his 2012 goldwing.
Definitely looks similar to a Goldwing, designed specifically for long distance riding, in comfort. Definitely going to need a higher windshield, I can hear the wind. Great review!

F-Sixer I believe adjusting the preload front and back will solve that problem. It is no doubt set soft from the factory.
160k+ trouble free miles on my 04 GW. Beat that. Honda for life.
How often are u changing your oil on that Honda tank? In plan to 5k synthetic??? CTX 1300 love my bike @ 80mph silky smooth even @ 4000 rpm
TheGeorgiaGent 101,015 on my '02 Busa. Haven't beaten your wing yet,but I'm closing. 😎
5000. Change engine oil and final drive oil with m/c synthetic. 169 K miles now. Manual says 7500 with regular oil.
100k on a Busa probably equates to million on a Wing. Oh...my back....
LOL. Wasn't that bad. I have a Corbin seat. Services done according to Suzuki's service manual. Regular Dino oil. Still on my original clutch.
I love your reviews better than any body elses .Your detailed description is amazing . I was wondering if you could do one on the CTX 700n and the Rocket 3 roadster and touring ??

I had mine about a year and sold it and got the BMW 1600GT and man what a difference. A lot more fun to ride and is great on the long rides too.
+MrKelso159 I love this bike, but I think I will go to the K1600. This bike needs a 6th gear. I also own Harleys

Would be interested to see a review of a Boulevard M109R....
great powerful bike
F6B is a cruiser for young man, Gold Wing is for an advanced age, imo.
I have a full windshield, heal shifter and floor boards on my F6B. I need help, I need to stop putting lights and chrome on my bike.... need a group.
NEVER enough lights on a Goldwing or F6B.......
Complete review and you weren't opposed to expressing flaws like the shifter set-up. Have you driven a BMW K 1600 GT/GTL model? That's what I ride for it handles very well in turns although it too is a flat 6.
Inline 6 not flat 6. Flat means 3 cylinders on each side laid flat. No but they are on my list!
t ok ok on in j mm I in I in on jjjjjjjjjjhjhhhb
+Louie Lamoore The BMW K1600 is not a flat six. It is an in-line or straight six that is transverse mounted.
Louie Lamoore I ve recently seen a guy who has his m109r for two years and even doesn't know that it's a v twin
Does Honda make a heel toe shifter ?? That it would seem would solve that problem .Maybe .
Yes they do but don't solve the problem still have to put foot on top to down shift.
I shall check that out ,Thank you,
I have it on my 2012 also..........love it & would never go back to a toe shifter

+mpowyo I compare to similar bikes, not similar prices. Those you mentioned ride as differently as it gets to this.

Have you done a review of the Rocket 3 Triumph?? If so could you put the link here because I can't find it and I would love to hear your prospective .
Fairly decent review Brian. Thank you. I'm a long time Honda and Goldwing guy. My first Wing back in 1985 when I purchased a new 1984 left over at the age of 35. I'm wondering if you've ever rode a full blown Goldwing with the trunk on the back & your thoughts on it? Thx.
On my list to buy soon, thanks for time and video
I hate demo rides ?feels like you are 5 and following the leader
Going over the features of the bike might be important during a review. Js
That is why I don't do demo rides. Let me ride on my own or not at all............

+bubblehead7680 yes
Thanks for the review. I enjoy these videos a lot as I find the demo wonks to be more often than not idiots. IOW I feel your pain.
Good review. Love to own one, but lots of money.
First of all I would so drop this bike just because I make mistakes that I can recover with the 650. I guess you have to turn slower than you can with a more agile bike and keep from diving too low. That shifter would end it for me also I always try to anticipate rather than react.
Goldwings has always had that problem with getting you're foot on the shift lever, i have a FJR which one do you like best??
With the lack of "feeling" the engine are you able to still know when to shift without looking at the tac?
+TheOtherVenkman .. He said the power fades fast after 3000 RPMs...
So it's best to get custom aftermarket shift pegs and floorboards?
How can I find out when dealerships or manufacturers have demo rides? I can never seem to catch one.
Great Review thanks, I have one booked for a demo ride July 16!
F6B handles like a dream this dude is just a nit picker and btw the bike is only as good as the rider so it doesn’t surprise me you’re having trouble in corners

It’s bad on shift forks also. You don’t drive your car with your foot on the brake pedal do you? If you have a standard shift car you don’t drive with your foot resting on the clutch pedal do you? You don’t ride your motorcycle With your foot on the shifter
Uh, no one said anything about that.
your not suppose to ''rest'' your foot on top of the shift peg, your suppose to rest that on the foot peg....the bike reminds me of the chevy avalanche when it came out, remember we all saw them and said man thats nice if only it did not have to damn much plastic...i see a little overkill on the plastic some...great looking bike...but under the gas tank and all around the sides...but im hearing a lot of good feed back on them..
+Mark Jacob That's obvious and no one said anything about 'resting' on the shifter. I'm talking about simply putting your foot on top of it in order to shift or prepare to shift. The BMW 1600's do the same thing to me although not as bad. The engines simply get in the way for people with big feet.
ok, cause on your comment section some guy with size 13 feet said he has no problems at all..so im hearing two different opinions is all, no offfense
Id take any of these Hondas or those pos Hardly Davidson
Does anyone know what type of blue this is please ? I think it's metallic, but if anyone knows the name so I can get some more details of the exact shade of blue I'd appreciate it
Go to the dealership and ask what the paint code is.
What camera you use?
Can you do a review of the Honda CTX 700?
That intro music tho....nice
Sounds like to me the bike is to state-of-the-art and has too many electronics on it to actually enjoy the ride. Part of the enjoyment of riding a motorcycle for me is to feel the road and feel the engine. I mean there's no other feeling like it if you take that away kind of boring.
Also, I think the F6B does not have Reverse.
Is the stock seat acceptable long distances?
It took a few hours for me to begin to feel it.
@@TwoWheelObsession so maybe just an airhawk or sheepskin?
I would imagine - never used them
Oh no... the Goldwing is probably the most famous bike in Europe and well known...
If motorcycles were Gundams.
It really needs a larger windshield.
Sweet Bike man
how tall are you wondering cause im 5'6
Are those aftermarket hsn DDT lebars? They look taller.
No
Can you automatically reverse?
Rohan Savio Fernandes yes
Beautiful bike!🔥😎👍
Wow yes taking their escort duties too seriously, although you did look like a VIP with only you and 2 escorts.
there is no navigation on the f6b
and your point?
jermaine Hart / He says "Navigation" at 01:21 . Not even an option on F6B. Watch it first, attack later.
i love a gold wing
Does this bad girl have reverse ?
Yes on 2015 and up...
tengo una foto.igual a esa pero tiene tres llantas
@ 7:49 I got about 4 inches under my butt. Lol!
I wish I owned one 😭
That's not a bike, it's a car on two wheels
