@@Real_SkyRipper I doubt the line was meant literally. It seems metaphorical, a reference to conceits in quantum mechanics that suggest properties of a particle are vague until consciously observed. It's actually a clever philosophical interpretation of physics.

This is absolutely stunning in its conceptual depth, its musical composition, its vocals... I become emotional when watching and listening to this video because it hits something very deep within my core. I also use the song during my self-guided visual meditations and it brings me peace. There's something about the merging of science, spirituality and heavy music that doesn't exist in other genres.
I think it's a consensus it's one of the bests songs of Epica. It had needed a video and here we are. Thank you! Now I'm waiting a live video...

I love this song, real masterpiece! This remaster sounds really, really good. Even under youtube compression it's clear how much different mastering is, much easier to hear different details. It's lovely how clear vocals sound! And Simone's so beautyful in this video

“Scorn shall be directed at the genius.” And “mislead by science”. Many of the lines speak of faith not believing in science. Copernicus was branded a heretic for suggesting that the earth revolves around the sun.

But I'm pretty sure it was Galileo who suggested that idea first (which was derived from Relativity).
When I hear the line “Scorn shall be directed at the genius”, the first thing that comes up to my mind is Peter Higgs (The Higgs Boson is real, but when he first proposed the idea, it was denied).
Btw, the song doesn't say science is wrong; it says there are gaps I'm science that might be filled out with spirituality.
I know as a whole, that’s what its saying, I made this post when I first heard it and didn’t completely understand the song at the time.

Ok, you have your opinion and I have mine. Of course, ungrateful for thinking that, because a tenth anniversary and the most important song for Mark, because he dedicated it to his grandmother when she died, is nothing.
Well, it's a lyrics video and they obviously wanted to have all the imagery in it. Having all the band members there would be a bit mess.
Simone is the "main face" of the band as well as main vocalist, so no wonder. And she's gorgeous so I really don't mind :)
Simone Simons deserves more fame than Taylor Swift ever will.

I still remember how one or two days before the album’s premiere in the middle of October 2009 (probably between 14th and 16th) I went to the store, grabbed the first digibook copy that I saw and immediately went back to buy it, the whole trip to the store didn’t take longer than 5 minutes 😂 but the DYU album still is my favourite Epica longplay, and one of the most favourite albums overall ❤️

SignedWithBlood mine is signed too! Heck, it was my first album ever signed after my first fan show ever :D so the nostalgia is really strong regarding DYU for me, also Simone had a golden pen with her back then and her „S” looks soooo significant on the cover when compared to guys’ autographs 😂

All of Epica’s music is amazing, but this song right here is their singular masterpiece and trumps everything else in the symphonic metal genre. It isn’t even close.
I started listening to Epica when I was 15 years old, when I barely knew about life. I remember having suicide thoughts, but somehow their songs, even if I didn´t understand them really well, made me feel like life was beautiful. I´m 23 now, always coming back to them

ive had the opposite path XD
only knew them by name, no idea what their music was like. i discovered the things they talk about on my own. i also got inspired by the holographic reality theory and quantum physic in general and started creating paintings about it, in the same period The Holographic Principle was released XD. heaing "beyond the matrix" for first time blew my mind because i was looking for other people who had such experiences for years but no dice. and i find it both amusing and kind of sad to think the lyrics are metaphores and allegories while its quite literal how things work down here :\
We can finally hear Simone's voice over the choir! I am loving this version and I am so excited about the rest of the album.

Actually, it's a gift to humanity.
Masterpiece in the Epica library. One among so many. I can’t put into words how much Epica and their music means to me. It’s like it is connected to my soul and my mind and truly makes me feel connected, something I’ve so desperately needed in Times I’ve felt so incredibly lost. Then, of course, it blasts through my core and I can’t control the head banging bombastic explosion that’s like a drug. I swear this music is a high and a double hit at that with the soaring heavenly vocals and choral harmonies. I adore how they’ve come perfectly full circle with THP from this album. Cheers, Epica! Happy Ten DYU! So much love to you. Here’s to another ten and many more. ❤️

Finally, this song gets the treatment it deserves! It sounds so much fuller, everything has a lot more beef to it. I love it! Can't wait to hear what the remastering has done for the rest of the album!
