I don’t know what it is about waffle cones, I just can not seem to get mine the right cone shape. Using the aluminum foil to keep its shape like your doing should help, in going to try that.
I hope it helped! I find that handling the clay as least as possible helps to maintain cone shape :) and using the foil was the best way I to be able to hold it with out touching it. ☺

you can also use frosting “tips” which are cone shaped and metal to bake them on 😊
