- My boyfriend, Leon, and I did our first 24 hour readathon together! It also turned into a bit of a cozy (week-long) vlog filled with walks in the woods and sledding down a snowy hill. We had such a fun time, and we hope you enjoy watching :)

Did you know there’s a slightly different version of that Kafka story? If you have an Audible account, listen to A Quiet Life in 7 Steps by Susan Cain (free). A really worthwhile listen (just over 4 hours). The Kafka story is one of a bunch of heartwarming content in that audiobook.

It’s a pleasure to meet Leon. Finding someone you can share a passion with is so important. Also wonderful is to read to or be read to by your significant other. I’ve fallen asleep many times while being read to as an adult and also found my significant other asleep as I read to them

I’m currently reading “Letters to Milena” (which I’m loving and highlighting a lot), but some might suggest starting with the ones he wrote to his dad, which was compiled into a book called “Letters to his father”. hope you like both, anyways!

Wow! That's great! My bf also reads but not a bookaholic like me.. This video of yours just gave me an idea of reading together. We used to discuss what we read before we got into a relationship but never read together. He always used to work on his laptop or computer composing music while i read. Your bf reads with you. Nice. Mine told me he’s not a reader and I can’t change that. Recently he told me he wants to read to expand his vocabulary. No idea what changed his mind 🤔. I dream of us reading together at bed time lol

I agree! Don’t give up! It sounds like there is still hope 😂 I always say that there is a book for everyone, even if they don’t consider themselves a reader! I’d suggest trying to find a book in a genre that interests him. Maybe think about what movies or shows he likes and try to find a book with a similar vibe. I hope this helps a bit 😊📚

More Italian books?? If you're ever in a mood for the Looney Tune version of Da Vinci Code, I highly recommend Foucault's Pendulum by Umberto Eco. It's about a group of scholars in Milan who try to pull a prank by writing a paper on a fake secret society ... and then the secret society is real and tries to unperson them. Be forewarned: the paperback edition is a chonky boy at 600+ pages.

I want a friend, partner or 'my person' who would be so lovely and passionate about books like Carolyn.
I love the solitude somtimes, but other days I simply just want someone to ramble to and have a nice conversation that would warm up my soul and day. Phones these days are slowly becoming a coping mechanism for me to escape into my own hazy world from the busy crowd, which I hate. Because I want to be conscious, be present and a part of something other than the silence I feel at the end of the day.
Edit: Omg I'm so sorry for the rambling. Didn't had a particularly good day. But I hope anyone who read it this far with so much patience that you have a great week and also if you didn't have a great day like me, hugs and I hope you feel better soon:))

Hello, Carolyn! I know how much you love picture books and middle grade fiction, and I have a recommendation for you. The book is titled: Planet Earth is Blue. It is about a twelve year old girl named Nova who is autistic and nonverbal, and she's waiting for the day of the launch of The Challenger. Her older sister Bridget promised to be there so they can watch it together on television, as they both love astronomy, but Bridget has disappeared, and Nova is alone in a new foster home.
This story made me tear up, and it is so tender and moving. I think you will love it. Not to mention it has a gorgeous cover.
