I use HRV no for 5 years or so. I use it as one of several biomarkers if all are negative AND HRV is down I go easy otherwise I overweight HRV last two days yesterday bike plus swim each 30min Z5 today am HRV dropped from 65-70 to 45 felt great spend 20min in Z5 on the run. That said consider HRV of ONE of several tools at hand
If you take a reading first thing in the morning say 62 and after breakfast take another reading; what would you estimate that score to be (ball park?) Since we are going from Para to sypm mode after being awake and moving around.
Does the EliteHRV app take into account your workouts? I been using the Morpheus app and recovery band to track my HRV and it takes info account my activity and workout data from a heart rate monitor.
On Elite HRV the user adds in data regarding sleep quality, mood, exercise time and intensity, and weight. Then the algorithm gives you your score between parasympathetic response to the right and sympathetic to the left. A straight up 10 indicates a balance between the two systems. You also receive an over all HRV score which hopefully you will see slowly raise over time. Other info as Mike indicated such as high and low frequency and their variation, as well as some great charts for comparisons. I've used it for years with Polar's H10.
oura and elite do not correlate. (for me). typically elite is 2 to 3 times higher. also, why does elite down grade your readiness score if hrv is too high?? (been using both for 3 years along with keto and no processed food diet.
You did not really explain what HRV is. What does it really measure? And I don´t mean fatigue and another things you mentioned. What does the reading itself measure?
It measures the space in between heart beats. And the differences between those spaces. Like the first gap between heartbeats 1 and 2 might be 5 seconds. But the gap between heartbeats 2 and 3 might be 10 seconds. I dont know if these use "seconds" but you get the idea. The larger the variety of these time gaps the higher the HRV.
Does the Elite HRV give audio-signals for real HRV biofeedback? (I don't want to stare on a screen, i need audio-signals which tell me when to breathe out - similar to the Stress Eraser device.)
Can you point me in the direction of any research that supports your POV that tracking HRV is useful for recovery? From what I've found, there isn't much evidence to support this. For example: journals.lww.com/acsm-msse/Abstract/publishahead/Profiles_of_Heart_Rate_Variability_and_Bar.96369.aspx
There's a doctor who wrote about it and said smart watches are not reliable because they take snapshots as you're moving instead of how he's saying it in this video ( to lie down and let the hrv be monitored ) I saw the article on drjohnday.com, I snapshot the writing instead of saving the link. I have an Apple Watch myself and always see my HRV low and I'm not stressed... even when I fasted it was still low.
Thanks Mike. How do you find the device for HRV Biofeedback? Can it be used to find the best breathing rate to maximize HRV. And if you have practiced hrv biofeedback with the device, has it had a long term positive impact on your morning readings?
Are you still with us? That's low. However, if you are recovering from heart surgery that might be better than it was. Definitely look into exercise and meditation to move that number up.
Elite hrv is free. Samsung S8 and newer have it built in to the phone health app. It does work really well and is very repeatable. In all cases you need to learn to breath correctly as this can screw it all up as well.

Is there any HRV realtime monitor, so I can wear and check HRV whenever doing activities like checking heart rate? My HRV during sleep is very low, so I want to see what activities can increase it. Thanks for tips.
I see the link for the ring, but where is the link for the other one?
JR Tyner here you go: elitehrv.com/corsense
i have pots (autonomic dysfunction) my hrv is always like 7-15.. i’m wondering if getting this up will help my ans function more optimal?
Mike FYI the HRV For training app is currently $14.99
Is that right? Used to be free. Will reach out to Marco to see what is new.
Thank you
Mike
If I searched it proper, but it’s $9.99 that I did get wrong Oops! 😬
I noticed my HRV measurements with Oura (during sleep) is a lot lower than my morning HRV measurements with a chest strap and HRV4training. Did anyone else noticed this as well? Which measurement to trust?
It seems there are different ways to measure, so the numbers may not even be comparable.
How does the phone app HRV testing accuracy stack up w/ the Oura and the other device?
I have a question sir concerning my recent hrv dropping 13.5 percent
can fish oil cause low heart rate?
My Apple Watch says mine is 180 average lmao. Good thing there isn’t a too high. I don’t sleep with it on either
I Wish you could go down in details on HRV in terms of beat 1: 65 , beat 2: 74, beat 3: 89 etc... like go down an look at the numbers
Also what is the hrv score Numbers say in Apple , where IT is for example 50 ms one day and 67ms the other day, what does that mean etc
amazing videos and content. Could you please review the Go2sleep (sleepon) tracker and let us know your thoughts ?
Just got my oura ring a week ago! Great video
Blade70 Heck Yes!!
How are you finding it so far?
interesting---resting heart rate variability
What's your opinion on the Elite CorSense vs HeartMath Inner Balance?
You did not really explain what HRV is. What does it really measure? And I don´t mean fatigue and another things you mentioned. What does the reading itself measure?
It measures the space in between heart beats. And the differences between those spaces. Like the first gap between heartbeats 1 and 2 might be 5 seconds. But the gap between heartbeats 2 and 3 might be 10 seconds. I dont know if these use "seconds" but you get the idea. The larger the variety of these time gaps the higher the HRV.
00:44 HRV "for train" is not an app in the app store or play store. Maybe you just mumbled it
The Heart and Brain run better on ketones, this is probably the reason the improved HRV
Does the Elite HRV give audio-signals for real HRV biofeedback? (I don't want to stare on a screen, i need audio-signals which tell me when to breathe out - similar to the Stress Eraser device.)
I made a video with audio cues if you're interested (HRV breathing night mode)
Ava Fertility Tracker is another bracelet, that mesures HRV during the night.
You no longer race because you crashed or because of the risk of crashing?
Can you point me in the direction of any research that supports your POV that tracking HRV is useful for recovery? From what I've found, there isn't much evidence to support this. For example:
journals.lww.com/acsm-msse/Abstract/publishahead/Profiles_of_Heart_Rate_Variability_and_Bar.96369.aspx
I changed to keto and my HRV average dropped,
what about apple watch hrv?
There's a doctor who wrote about it and said smart watches are not reliable because they take snapshots as you're moving instead of how he's saying it in this video ( to lie down and let the hrv be monitored )
I saw the article on drjohnday.com, I snapshot the writing instead of saving the link. I have an Apple Watch myself and always see my HRV low and I'm not stressed... even when I fasted it was still low.
Do you find HRV4 training app really precise ?
Tom sayer Used it for years, great tool. Plus Marco has published data. Start there for sure!
I wish I could have deeper sleep 😴 1% last three days
Have you tried sleeping with window open? Cold shower before bed?
Last night I did try to reduce covers which did chill me. Ya I’m 54 so that is an issue for sure thx for your time. 🤓 researching herb now 😍
How do you test that?
Fitbit analyzes your sleep patterns it’s cool
Got 21min of deep sleep last night almost 3 hrs of rem and 5ish hrs of light.
You are a scientist!!! My Iwatch tracks my hrv. Is that any good? I seem to be all over the place with my numbers.
Sue Whittaker not sure on that! Perhaps it’s good at HRv, see if you can get the raw data (rmSSD etc...).
Hey Chris Isaac. When did you stop singing
Thanks Mike. How do you find the device for HRV Biofeedback? Can it be used to find the best breathing rate to maximize HRV. And if you have practiced hrv biofeedback with the device, has it had a long term positive impact on your morning readings?
HRV4Training is NOT for free! It cost 13 US$
Henrik Madsen Basically free
Stakker Humanoid ?? Trakker Humanoid now after watching this video!
In 2020 HRV4Training is no longer free
My last HRV was 23, is that too low?
Are you still with us? That's low. However, if you are recovering from heart surgery that might be better than it was. Definitely look into exercise and meditation to move that number up.
Sound like a good scientist to me.
Gongo Xin Trying!
it's 9.99 it's not free
HRV 4 up to $11.99, lol the more views you get, the more they raise price?
HRV4Training is NOT free. It’s $9.99
Jarod King Used to be free, that’s a great deal considering the data you can garner.
High Intensity Health were you paid or compensated (free gifts) to talk about these apps / devices? I believe US law requires disclosure.
Jarod King No I was not paid to discuss.
Though I do make a small commission on OURA ring when folks use my code.
13.99 in Canada
Elite hrv is free. Samsung S8 and newer have it built in to the phone health app. It does work really well and is very repeatable. In all cases you need to learn to breath correctly as this can screw it all up as well.
Sorry, you lost me on keto.
Your voice sounds weird. Off. Is this real?
Useless piece of junk!!!! And there is no Customer Support!
hrv4training is 11.99 euro
4:44 almost said high fructose
