Just for clarification. The TM22's are not made in the Philipinnes (Manila). The are made In Türkiye by the company named Derya. It makes both versions, an aluminum one (a standard TM22) and the newest version, nearly fully synthetic, the TM22 Feather/or TM22-Lite-18. The Rock Island Armory is just an importer. They don't make anything in the US.
By the way, I don't quite understand why mixup98's rifle performed so badly. I have the TM22 Feather for some time and it has been working like a champ. It doesn't like SV ammo. It likes HV ammo. I've been shooting Remington Thunderbolt, Remington Golden, Federal Value Pack, CCI Mini Mags and Stingers without any hiccups. Trigger pull weight on the TM22 Feather is absolutely amazing at 2lbs.
I should add that I'm in Canada and bought my TM22 Feather through IRUNGUNS. Although, I don't expect that the better quality TM22 Feathers are imported to Canada and the rest is left for the US customers? (just kidding).

After I sighted it in, I saw a can up on the side of the hill at about 200 yards and figured why not? Dang if I didn't hit it on the 2nd shot. CCI seems to cycle anything and everything. It's pretty much the only .22 I run in semi-autos because everything else has mixed results. It'll be interesting to see what your digging uncovers with this gun. I like the aesthetic but there are many better .22s for the money.

I got a TM 22, and have suffered failures due to the recoil/buffer rubber failing multiple times. I wish they came up with a better design. im considering trying to fit a standard AR buffer and spring and seeing how that works.

I'm going to try several other brands of ammo (Remington, Aguila) and see if they will work in the TM22. I might have to pull out the extractor and tweak it slightly.

In Canada we have "Derya" TM22s and I know multiple people with over 2,000rounds. No failures. We don't sell the RIA polymer versions, thank goodness
These polymer RIAs seem to have bad QC
Zero issue with the Deryas over here.

In Canada we also have a polymer version, the TM22 Feather which can be had from IRUNGUNS on their Canadian site. I have one in "burnt bronze" which I bought in February 2024. Fantastic rifle. It shoots every type of 22LR ammo without any problem even the Federal Auto Match. IMO the Feather version is better designed than the original aluminum version.

There's an online deal for for VR70 + TM22 for $469. I couldn't find anything of the VR70, but apparently its an AR style version of the VR60 and I've seen on great things about that one. I hadn't seen anything on the TM22, until today. Probably better off buying the VR60 and then getting one of those Rossi 22 rifles for another $120 (or so) and for about the same price.
Another great video that pulls no punches. Unfortunately, a lot of gun channels will strictly focus on a gun's positive aspects while barely touching on what's not good about it and if they do it's typically something trivial like how they hate the finish or the mag release could be a bit bigger, pfft!

A burning question I have for ANY firearm is: why is this being made? What does THIS do better/different than a million other guns on the market? I am not saying there shouldnt be innovation or creativity.. but... We have superb and reliable Ruger 10/22s and their clones, we have Smith and Wesson MP15-22s that are basically 1-1 AR15s, we have tipmans and H&K-clones that all work reliably... There are so many spot on looking AR15 22 rifles that have everything a person might want or the ability to customize. Then something like this comes along - and again im asking that big ol question: what and why...

The further on into the video the more clear the “500 round break in” becomes. Once again, CCI comes through.
I’ve noticed over the past few years, the springs on these “cheaper” guns are often too stiff. A friend bought a cheaper auto 12 gauge last year and both springs were way too stout. Could barely get two shells in the tube, and it wouldn’t even cycle high brass. Of course the old saying remains to be true most times, “ya get what ya pay for”.

I just bought a tm22 s18. Very accurate with a $30 scope on it. but I had problems FTF and FTE. Only came with one mag and mags for the S18 are impossible to find. I was shooting Remington thunderbolt. Wonder if the operating spring may be part of the issue. At $80 it is no great loss, but accuracy and super trigger on this make it a shame it does not operate more consistently.

    • @mixup98
      @mixup98 23 дня назад

I don't know about the operating spring but the hammer spring seems very heavy and that could be part of the problem if the bolt isn't cycling properly. It is a shame that the rifle has a super trigger, match grade barrel with great accuracy, yet it doesn't want to fire or eject properly.

    • @j3975

Had much better luck on my second outing. Find this rifle likes a liberal amount of oil and also polished all visible surfaces of the feed mechanism. Hand altered a couple tm22 mags to fit the S18 version which took about 45 minutes each. Worked fine with thunderbolt, golden bullets and minimags this time. I also picked up a refurbished feather that worked great out of the box with any ammo, though I wish the peep sight was a little smaller.

I wonder if it likes Armscor 22 ammo…..
About fiver years ago I had to send my new 10-22 Takedown back to Ruger. It would not feed anything. When I got it back it looks like all the did was chamfer the chamber mouth. I also picked up a second barrel. That barrel had a burr at the crown. Everybody screws up occasionally.
If I was with Armscor I would be contacting you to get the rifle back to do a QC audit. You are convenient as Armscor’s main office is in Pharump. One cannot fix a problem if one does not know know there is a problem.

From what I remember researching the Taurus TX 22 and Sig Sauer 22 rimfire pistols 2 or 3 years back, that was one of the reasons they quoted as to getting them to work reliably with nearly any type of 22 ammo - besides a fixed barrel, they chamfered the chamber mouth.
FYI, I ended up getting a TX 22, as the Sig Sauer model was a hot item and unobtanium at the time.

I bought a Model 60 back in the late 70's. The nylon buffer cracked and fell apart during the mid-80's. Pieces hit me in the face iirc. Got one on Numrich for something like $1.29...it was a pita to put in, but the rifle still works to thus day. In fact, I did a thorough cleaning on it a couple years ago and the replacement buffer looks fine. I'm thinking Marlin got a bad batch of buffers if they had them made...if they made 'em in-house, well bad nylon or QC will do it. My grandkids love the Model 60 as do I.

I've got a TM22 A-18 all aluminum and it's an absolute beast. Accuracy and reliability are hard to match. I liked it so much, I decided to get this feather light for my son to mess around with. It's been an absolute mess!! Can't get it to consistently feed any ammo, extractor issues like in this video, and the worst part? I can't get a group of 3 shots under 1-1/2" at 25 yards! This with the same optic, and mount as I used on the aluminum version. It's such a huge disappointment.
