Move to Florida and you can use your bag. It is outrageous that you will have to change your life to accommodate the thieves. What a shame. Glad you are safe.
glad you are safe and absolutely, it is terrible that one cannot enjoy items freely without fear of it being stolen nowadays... maybe brands should consider that when what is meant for everyday use items are raised to such prices, there comes a point when they are no longer practical for everyday use... and people will just stop buying it in fear of being a target of criminals... it's definitely making me reconsider if I was ever to have opportunity to buy a quota bag... would I actually get it? It has become a liability and I am not one to keep handbags on display only....
Lots of carjacking abd and robberies in DC area. I rarely carry or wear very expensive items when I'm taking metro alone. People do not care. Not worth my life. Glad you are doing ok😢🙏🏿🥰

@@JustAnotherBagLover Thanks so much for the reply and best wishes. I did have to adjust my habits as well. I don't walk around alone unless I have pepper spray I can quickly grab. Also, highly recommend using an air tag when carrying an expensive bag. I felt the same about telling close ones, but I believe once you tell them the person grabbed you, they will just be glad you're ok and leave their judgment aside. Hope you can soon put this all behind you. Best. ❤
Sorry this happened to you. I was in SF for work 5 years ago for an entire month. I had to walk all around that area. I never felt comfortable walking around there.
I'm so sorry this happened to you but glad to hear that you're okay and nothing was actually taken from you. I agree with you that you should be able to carry whatever bag you want and not have to worry about being mugged. The whole "you asked for it" mentality is so wrong.
When I had my 1st set of LVs, I promised myself to use my lux bags every time I went out to enjoy all of it. End up with 16 and I think it's ridiculous not to use all of them. My friends are worried what if I get robbed. Somehow, our area is safe(thank God!), but also, I have this crazy idea that all my bags must be below 3k so that if anything is gonna happen to it, I can buy it again😅.
Goddamn! A good thing you're safe! Please seek help if you start noticing trauma symptoms. I know a woman that has allll the luxury bags and she carries her bag in a plastic bag from a grocery store whenever she's somewhere she doesn't feel 100% safe. The city she lives in is safe as is the suburb she lives in, but she only carries her designer bags at the city center. This is why I skipped upgrading to high end luxury and stuck with contemporary. I'm not a target when carrying Longchamp, Kurt Geiger or Boss.
Smart! Yeah I think I'll be carrying an extra tote bag, I normally do to carry purchased items home but now I need to carry an additional one to hide any nice bags!
@@JustAnotherBagLover Longchamp Le Pliage, Kipling Art or a similar foldable tote is handy for that. They also protect your expensive bags from rain etc.

I'm so very sorry for this awful experience.. Hope the memory fades very fast. This is everyday life in SF. We need to be very serious about voting, this has gotten completely out of control.
Have a dark dustbag looking totebag and put the bag inside it. I do this with the picotin. My Birkin is not going out without insurance, its hiding bag and plan to stay where security is high. Maybe a gaurded city place could have been a ok place to live. Police are too overwhelmed these days.
I’m so sorry this happened to you! Whenever I go to the city it’s a debate to dress nice or be lowkey. I hate the doom loop narrative about SF but the city does have issues that need to change. People get basic canvas bags and work backpacks stolen too
I agree! I hate the doom loop narrative too and there are things that need to change. Thanks for your comment - it's helpful and makes me feel less alone. The worker stopped when the guy ran away but he asked me if I was ok. I was so close to my house all I wanted to do was go home, so I ended up filing a police report online... I don't think it'll do anything because 1) nothing ended up being stolen and 2) I wouldn't be able to ID the guy because it all happened so fast. But I think just for city statistics it made me feel better to report it even if nothing comes from it. Thank you so much for your kind words - I really appreciate it ❤️❤️❤️

Attempted mugging……I hate that this happened to you. That is trauma inducing and at the end of the day you are okay and you have your bag. Oh you poor thing…you can not wear iPods out in these streets cause you can not hear what is going on around you. And yes “freeze “ is an option cause you are in shock and can’t believe this is happening to you. That is why I do not like top handle bags. I have 2 Hermes bags and both have cross body straps. Please everyone…do not run around in iPods cause you can not hear what is going on around you. I know of a person who was just walking down the street with her iPods and a car lost control and drove up on the sidewalk and hit her. She woke up a week later in the hospital as she had a major head trauma and was in a coma for a couple of days. We are glad you are alright and it is sad that you can not enjoy your bag but do not sell your bag. Life changes and you may find yourself living else where when you can wear it and not worry. That is why I bought the none popular Hermes bags. And The Birken is so popular and recognizable…oh and he would have tried you even if it was another luxury bag. They are grabbing all bags off of the chairs in restaurants down here in LA so if he knows his handbags there is not much we can do. Chin up though…..people need to be aware of their surroundings at all times by seeing, and hearing what is going on.
Firstly you have every right to be able to go about your business without anyone trying to harm you. Did you contact the police, and have you checked to see if you’re on cctv ?
I filed a police report online but I'm not expecting anything to come from it considering nothing was actually taken. I think I just filed it because I felt powerless and wanted my agency back and I also felt like it'd be important just for city statistics. But as for real action, I am not expecting anything. I don't think there are cameras on that block because it happened right outside a building that's empty. :(
That is assault and attempted robbery, serious offences, especially because he grabbed your neck, a very vulnerable area and a huge red flag for police. There will be some video footage of him somewhere. I would urge you to report to police asap
@@JustAnotherBagLover wow disappointing that the police have not responded and followed up. Things must be really bad over there. If this happened in Australia it would be a priority one job and there would be urgency to get this person off the street before they really hurt someone

Thanks for sharing this, I was considering carrying my Birkin to SF for my visa interview, this helps A LOT!
Leave it at home! Stay safe and good luck with your interview! ❤️❤️❤️
Omg I’m so sorry that bs happened to you. So happy you’re ok ❤
Thank you so much for your kind words!
I am so incredibly sorry this happened to you. I’m so glad however that you weren’t more physically harmed but I do hope you’re taking care of yourself mentally ❤️
Thank you so much. I realize it actually helped me to share this story on video, something about saying it out loud has helped me process it. I appreciate your kind words ❤️
@@JustAnotherBagLover I’m sending you warm hugs ❤️ You should be able to go out and live your life wearing the beautiful things you buy. Thank you for sharing what happened and I really do hope you take care of yourself ❤️
Im sorry that happened to you and thank you so much for sharing your experience to help others. Im so glad you are safe! An idea to put the bag to use as decoration while you dont want to use it out of the house. You can try using silk flowers and use it as a flower display like what people do with the LV coffret
That's a great idea! In general a lot of my bags are on display since I'm limited on storage space 😅😅
I am so sorry this happened to you. So glad you’re ok.
Thank you so much for your kind words ❤️❤️❤️
Omg so sorry this happened to you. It’s so hard to bring the Birkin or Kelly nowadays. But I’m glad you’re safe and your B. Take Care always.
Thank you ❤️❤️❤️
How dreadful that this happened to you - every Birkin lover’s nightmare!!! So relieved you “escaped” with minor physical injuries which will heal in no time. The emotional and psychological trauma will take longer to heal 😢. Super proud of you for putting up a fight as well. I would not have done anything different from you in the same situation. Really appreciate you sharing your experience, I will make sure I have my husband or friends around whenever I carry my B. Take care and God bless ❤
Thank you so much for the kind words 🥹❤️ and please take care out there! Xo
Move to Florida and you can use your bag. It is outrageous that you will have to change your life to accommodate the thieves. What a shame. Glad you are safe.
Yeah, I think I'll feel safer using the bag when I travel (depending on where I go and who I'm with obviously). Thanks for your well wishes. Xo
glad you are safe and absolutely, it is terrible that one cannot enjoy items freely without fear of it being stolen nowadays... maybe brands should consider that when what is meant for everyday use items are raised to such prices, there comes a point when they are no longer practical for everyday use... and people will just stop buying it in fear of being a target of criminals... it's definitely making me reconsider if I was ever to have opportunity to buy a quota bag... would I actually get it? It has become a liability and I am not one to keep handbags on display only....
Yeah it's so unfortunate! I wish I could safely use and wear my expensive items. 😭
Lots of carjacking abd and robberies in DC area. I rarely carry or wear very expensive items when I'm taking metro alone. People do not care. Not worth my life. Glad you are doing ok😢🙏🏿🥰
OMG! 😱 Sorry that you had this horrible experience, but thankful that you are safe!!! You should check if there are any surveillance cameras nearby and please do file a police report. Take care
I am so very sorry this happened to you. The aftermath is as bad as the event, which just adds to it! I hate the idea of victim blaming, I really hope you don’t have to go through that too! Please consider using uber everywhere for the next few months maybe just for the extra security. Sending love, healing, and prayers that this nothing like this ever happens again!
Thank you so much. Definitely being way more careful out there ❤️❤️❤️
Ugh...I hate people sometimes. I'm sorry again that this happened to you! Honestly what a terrifying experience...I feel like I would freeze too. I'm also so paranoid about Toronto given how much the city has changed over the last few years, so I am so selective on how and when I wear my items out. Which sucks because I want to enjoy them more! But overall I'm so glad you're otherwise unharmed. And that you were able to walk away with all of your things!!
Honestly the more I think about it the more miraculous it is that I was able to walk away with everything. I wish we were free to enjoy our nice things without the fear of being robbed! It's so unfortunate that these are the times we live in :(
I’m so sorry this happened to you. Glad that you’re ok and hope you’re taking care mentally. I also shop around union square and surprised this happened when it was still daytime. I agree on not wearing headphones and walking with purpose when downtown.
Thank you for sharing your experience, I’m so glad you’re ok … it’s wild to me that folks think it’s ok to try to rob people. .. I hope the would be thief gets caught . This is never ok… I would never lecture anyone about wearing or buying expensive things they have worked hard for . We have to be vigilant and travel in pairs as much as possible… also get mace and a defense cat… ❤
That’s absolutely horrible.. no one deserves to be robbed you should be able to wear your Birkin if you want to.. I feel unsafe at times in Sydney Australia wearing any sort of designer handbag but I won’t stop wearing them but I don’t have have a birkin but if I did I probably be too scared to wear it as well.. I hope you heal from this experience.. sending much love
Thank you for the kind words. I love Sydney! I think it's such a beautiful city - it's sad that you feel the same way living there :(
For the price one pays to get a Birkin, it should probably come with 2 bodyguards to escort you when you use it.
Hahahha seriously! Thanks for making me smile with this comment 😂
😂I agree …
I lived the same thing years ago 2 times. Both times was to steal my phone. I live in Paris this happens often here... that's why i wear all my luxury bags in crossbody i feel more secure wearing this way... hope you feeling better now even if i know that is a traumatic episode.
I'm so sorry to hear that! It's so violating. Agree that crossbody is definitely the most secure. Thank you for the kind words ❤️
So sorry this happened to you. I had a close call myself last year very similar to yours. I wanted to say that even if you think you're ok, I would strongly suggest you talk to a counselor since it happened so close to your home, which was the same in my case. I ended up moving for peace of mind. I hope nothing else like this ever happens to you again Wish you the best.
Thank you so much for your kind words. I am so sorry to hear something similar happened to you too 😞❤️. I hope you're healing/healed and nothing like this happens to you again. I really appreciate your advice ❤️❤️❤️
@@JustAnotherBagLover Thanks so much for the reply and best wishes. I did have to adjust my habits as well. I don't walk around alone unless I have pepper spray I can quickly grab. Also, highly recommend using an air tag when carrying an expensive bag.
I would also file a police report since it was an attempted robbery and an assault since he grabbed your neck and hurt your arm.
Thank you for your kind words ❤️
OMG glad you are ok nothing happen to you 🙏 and your strong bag 👜💪💙
Thank you! Haha I surprised myself too 😅💪
Some thieves are rich too.
I agree, we should be allowed to enjoy our bags! So happy to hear that you are able to use and wear your items safely.
I am so happy that you are not seriously hurt. I just got my Kelly and this worries me. That someone might try to hurt me for a handbag. Thanks for this video it is very helpful for me. ❤
Congratulations on your Kelly! I hope you are able to wear and enjoy it safely ❤️❤️❤️
So sorry you had to experience this and I'm happy you're ok. ☀️
Thank you very much for your kind words - I'm very happy I'm okay too
I only carry my Hermes if I am driving point A to Point B. Not walking around situation in Europe or America.
This is so scary. I am so sorry this happened to you…stay safe!!! I conceal carry so I got something for someone who thinks they got something for me! I also carry a taser and a knife. I don’t play! 😂
Omg this is so scary. I’m sorry you went through this. I’m glad you’re ok. Process, be kind and take care of yourself.
Thank you so much for your kind words. I'm doing my best and I think I'm doing pretty okay so far. I appreciate your comments. Xo
Thanks for sharing your story. You should share! Listen, people judge no matter what.
So true! That's a very good point. I did share with my close friends who were very supportive ❤️❤️❤️
I'm so very sorry for this awful experience.. Hope the memory fades very fast. This is everyday life in SF. We need to be very serious about voting, this has gotten completely out of control.
Thank you so much. I'm doing so much better and it really helped me to talk about it here ❤️❤️❤️
Have a dark dustbag looking totebag and put the bag inside it. I do this with the picotin. My Birkin is not going out without insurance, its hiding bag and plan to stay where security is high. Maybe a gaurded city place could have been a ok place to live. Police are too overwhelmed these days.
That's a great tip and I'm definitely going to carry an extra tote bag for that reason from now on!
Thank you for sharing your experience. I am very glad that you were not seriously injured.
Me too! I feel very lucky ❤️❤️❤️
I’m so so so sorry this happened to you. I definitely feel more worried taking out my more recognizable bags nowadays. It sucks. ❤
Thank you ❤️❤️❤️. Yes it really does suck! I wish we didn't have to worry about these kinds of things! 😞
I wish we could all just wear what we want freely (whether it's nice or low key) everyone should have a right to dress how they wish and move around the city safely
Sorry to hear this….What about flipping the bag like the front closure close to your body? So what’s visible is the back making it inconspicuous?
That's def a great idea and I'll start doing that
@@JustAnotherBagLover This is how i carry my Birkin, Kelly, and Constance if i am outside unsure of safety like parking lots or sidewalks. I refused to be a victim and not wear my bags. Just practice extra caution to stay safe.
San Francisco is just... ugh I'm so sorry that this happened to you. Normal law abiding citizens shouldn't be subjected to this.
Agree. Everyone should have the right to wear what they want outside without fear of being attacked 😔
@@JustAnotherBagLoverat least you can be grateful that ultimately you weren’t gravely harmed and still got to keep your pretty bag. Wishing you well! 💛

WOW. So glad you are OK!!!! Great girl power!!! My city is high-crime and unfortunately has a terrible gun violence problem in armed robberies. I keep an airtag in my bag, cover the logo with a scarf but typically hide it (facing backwards), and I NEVER walk around with it /: very sad how shitty so many american cities have gotten.
It's really sad and unfortunate how unsafe things have gotten 😭. Thanks for your well wishes ❤️❤️❤️
OMG! So happy you are save🙏
Thank you for going into detail regarding the attack and attempted robbery! I’m so glad that you are okay, and that as you stated, nothing was taken. Do you think the perpetrator ran off when he saw the other man approaching? Did that worker make his way to you, and did you file a police report? I can’t imagine the anxiety that you must have experienced afterwards! So appreciative of the advice and prayers that we are able to enjoy these luxury items!!!💖🙏
Thank you so much for your kind words - I really appreciate it ❤️❤️❤️
@@JustAnotherBagLover I’m so glad that the worker did make sure you were safe and that the police report was filed! You just don’t know if anyone (homes or businesses) have cameras that might have caught something! I have cameras at home and my business, and we are registered with the Police Department. They have contacted us on various occasions both at home and at my office to review footage! Just keep that in mind! Again, thank you for bravely sharing this!!! 🥰🙏💖
What is the point of having a Birkin if you are afraid to use it 😣
Thanks for sharing this but so sorry this happened to you..
Happy to know that you weren't hurt but sad that we're living in a world like this now. So much hype on a bag that it's scary to carry one. Be very careful next time. Number one rule is don't use the B when you're alone.
Yes, lesson learned for sure. Never taking this bag out when I'm by myself ❤
Sorry this happened to you and glad you are ok. I can relate, I feel too scared to use my nice things these days :(
Thank you. Ugh, it does kind of feel awful that we're not free to use our things without fear right? 😢😢😢
Wow, this is a crazy story. So glad you were not hurt. What city were you in?
Thanks, me too. San Francisc, CA
@@JustAnotherBagLover oh my, that city and many others have become unsafe. We should begin to travel in pairs (or more) as women, it makes us much less of a target. So glad you still have your special items and of course your health. The mental impact of this violation is still there, I wish you speedy healing.
@@DARjessedana thank you so much. Yes, I've lived here for more than a decade and NYC before and nothing like this has ever happened to me 😢. Definitely going to be way more aware when I'm out alone. Thank you for your kind words ❤️❤️❤️

@@JustAnotherBagLovernever would have thought that could be a bad thing! Glad you’re safe
This is exactly why I conceal carry. I don’t care what the state law says.
He didn’t take the bag, but now whenever you look at the bag…you will think of this time, took away the joy the bag brings.
Maybe temporarily. I need some time to mentally recover and get over it, but I refuse to let him take my joy in using the bag. For the time being I won't be using it at home, but I'll probably take it on vacation (depending on where I'm going and who I'll be out with). Eventually I hope when I look at the bag instead of a bad memory, I see strength and resilience.
Thank goodness you were not harmed. I don't know whether he targeted you because of your Birkin or because you live in a nice area and he thought you might have a lot of money in your purse. Be aware always of your surroundings...no matter what part of town you are in. Be well.
Omg, glad you are ok!
Me too....such a crazy situation!

@@bagsandlifestyle wow that's crazy!
Sorry to say but it will happen again, sell the bag and enjoy your life
Attempted mugging……I hate that this happened to you.
I did file a police report online, but I don't know if anything will come of it
@@JustAnotherBagLover wow disappointing that the police have not responded and followed up. Things must be really bad over there. If this happened in Australia it would be a priority one job and there would be urgency to get this person off the street before they really hurt someone
Unfortunately this is true. They’re calling San Francisco Gotham City 😢
Idk if this is cognitive dissonance or what but people who wear birkins for some reason forget that what 10k? Is a snatch away. There’s no way y’all feel this comfortable carrying so much money on your body at once without some sort of security. Get a firearm
Im traumatized just hearing your story. You gotta look like a Bum when you’re luxury shopping in sf, which beats the purpose of “luxury”. Also to be honest Palo alto and Southbay is also not that safe either. Be safe out there!
AND You can arrange with your SA to drive up in front of the store and they can walk the shopping bag to your car. Chanel SF did this for me so I didn’t have to walk to the parking structure.
Ah, I'm sorry I didn't mean to traumatize you! I'm glad the stores are letting you drive up front - that's a great tip for others. I don't have a car, so I'll probably just have to take ubers when shopping from now on
this is why we can’t have nice things 😭
this has been happening a lot in los gatos & morgan hill too & it’s not talked about. ppl think los gatos & morgan hill are so safe..but it’s becoming less bc these vile criminals are targeting affluent neighborhoods. we’ve recently moved from there to what seems like a shockingly safer area compared. i will only carry my expensive bags when i have company w me or if i know i’ll be shopping in areas where i see expensive bags being worn by most..
thank God you’re safe now & ty for spreading awareness. 🙏💚
I'm so sorry to hear that it's spread to los gatos and morgan hill too! I hope you're staying safe!

As a San Franciscan, I’m willing to bet that you voted for this outcome. If true you don't deserve any sympathy.
Woof. Mean much?
Unfortunately people who voted for more Democrat policies quite literally asked for it. It’s mean but true. People leave California and then bring the same self destructive voting practices to the red states. If you vote for soft on crime or leniency for criminals this is what you get.
The fact that some of you are making this a political issue is truly ignorant as heck. More police =/= less crime. Other industrialized nations have figured this out and yet so many Americans still can't put two and two together to make four.
@@cecilyerker Stop purporting misinformation. Two of the top three states with the worst crime rates are red states (AK and LA). This isn't a democrat-republican issue. What a myopic and ignorant take.
That’s crazy, I’m sorry that happened to you! I’m glad nothing bad happened to you, do you have an AirTag in your bag, I would maybe advise to do that. Stay safe! Also I use a tote bag whenever I feel like it’s not feeling safe around me, a tote bag flat enough to stuff in our birkins 🫶🏻
