    It's great to see such great legroom on the cheapest transatlantic flight. Quite disappointing that there is no Wi-Fi or electrical outlets. So bring an external battery and download some content on your phone before you fly.

    I live in Northeast PA and this airport is only and hour and a half from me. I'm from Dublin so used to use Norwegians SWF to DUB flights all the time. So glad I can go back to SWF. Have been using PHL and EWR and it's just such a hastle to get there and expensive to park if you drive. SWFs long term parking is right by the terminal. I can just drive and park and I'm on my way! On the way back it's just the same!

    Very nicely done. However, I would have liked to see how things went once you arrived to Stewart Airport. How was the immigration processing, getting the bus to NYC, how was the bus ride itself, how was the arrival at the bus terminal in Manhattan, and how to get out of the terminal and onto the final destination (hotel?). Are there options to sightsee the area around the airport first before heading to NYC ? I hear there is a new Legoland New York nearby as well as the US Military Academy at West Point also a few minutes away from Stewart, would it be easy for a visitor to visit the local attractions? I would also like to know how your return trip went from NYC back to Stewart and back to Iceland. I enjoyed your style of explanation of the trip.

    • @wotan10950

      I’ve never taken the bus because I live near Stewart, but all reports say the bus service is convenient and reliable. As for sites near Stewart, I’d rent a car to visit LegoLand, Woodbury Commons, West Point, the Culinary Institute of America, the FDR home and library, and countless wineries. It’s a beautiful area, and only 60-90 minutes from New York City.

    • @tedharrison4109

      I particularly like visiting West Point during all the seasons. Did you know that there is a unique and beautiful hotel, gardens and state park also nearby just west of New Paltz about 30 minutes north of Stewart Airport. It is called Mohonk Mountain House and Minnawaska State Park. It sits on top of a mountain surrounded by white cliffs . Look it up, I think you would enjoy it.

    • @tedharrison4109
      @tedharrison4109 2 года назад +3

      @@mariofuenzalida8601 The train at Beacon is an excellent choice. But it would be interesting to see what is involved for someone arriving from Iceland to get to that train in Beacon. I have heard there is a ferry boat that will take one directly to the Beacon train station leaving from Newburgh. That sounds like a nice way to start the trip to NYC or is there a shuttle bus between Stewart Airport and Beacon Station ? It would be interesting to know how one does that. I just heard today that the MTA is thinking about building a direct rail link to the Airport from a train station near Cornwall/Washingtonville which would go to Hoboken Rail Station west of Manhattan.

      Agree - it is not as bad - the longer transit can be earned by lesser waiting time due to the smaller airport. So it might be close to the same in the end.

    Just booked for late summer. It's much cheaper than flying from one of the main airports, and immigration plus waiting at the carousel and for a cab at JFK can add up to several hours.

    I was about to ask how tall you are - but there you mention it :) I am 196cm and my main concern is always the seat pitch - its very uncomfortable for me, even in good old legacy carriers. I live close to Steward Airport and as a German I am pretty excited to have a connection to homeland close to my house and without the need to use those overcrowded big airports in the City. I think, I just have to give PLAY a try and also book a seat with extra space.

      The plane was quite full, but surprisingly comfortable for a long flight! On the Airbus A320-200neo, PLAY have an economy class that is designed for 180 passengers. So this is the max capacity.

    • @TravelPlusLoyalty
      @TravelPlusLoyalty  11 месяцев назад +1

      There is actually advantages in not using EWR and JFK. The queues in the airport are not as long, so that helps with the longer ground transportation to Manhattan. But taking a taxi from EWR and JFK is also easy 60 minutes drive. Only the trains are a bit faster. In our opinion we are "only" talking about 30-45 minutes in difference and that is equalised but short queues in the airport.

      We fully agree that the actual inagural flight was from Reykjavik. but our trip report started out from Copenhagen.

    I just returned from Milan, via Newark, but I try to use Stewart whenever possible. I flew Frontier to Ft Lauderdale, and it was fine. So I might give PLAY a try since I hear that Iceland is a nice destination. Or just use Reykjavik as a transfer point to continue on to Europe. I was a bit surprised to hear that your bus took two hours. Were you in rush hour traffic? I drive from the Hudson Valley to NYC frequently, and it always takes 60-90 minutes, unless there is a real problem.

    • @TravelPlusLoyalty
      @TravelPlusLoyalty  2 года назад +1

      Iceland is a must try to visit. We recommend to use a stop over there for 2-3 days before heading home or to Europe.
      There was some delays plus heavy traffic. So good to hear that this is not the normal time the trip should take :-)

      As promised, I did book a ticket in April from Stewart to Keflavik to Amsterdam. I paid extra for legroom, suitcases, and whatever else they offer. The transfer doesn’t bother me (as long as it goes smoothly!), as it is way more convenient for me than hiking to Newark or JFK - and the traffic and crowds that await me there. If this trip to Amsterdam works out, I hope to follow up in the autumn with a PLAY trip to Bologna.
