Sometimes its ok to say your performance is below expectation and demonstrate intent to improve. Dont defend failure as success

No amount of preparation can effectively stop a natural disaster, we have to be honest here, sometimes mitigation actions can best be effective when supported by the resident communities themselves by adhering to the advice given by the DM authorities

The chief officer should be ashamed of himself to come out and start defending his qualified group. The stupidity and reckless disregard for sanity and honest acknowledgement of the plight of Kenyans during such a disaster is laid bare for all to behold.

We need to move from response to prevention and risk management.. You don't help much with response, but preventing casualties from disasters..

Trevor always let people get away with lies in his show.
We knew about heavy rains n el nino but this Simiyu guy wants to say they didn't anticipate any disaster with "too much" water?

Short answer, the only mitigation was prayer, luck, and sheer human will to live. Otherwise, i dont hear any substantial mitigation.

I retired in 2018 and what Simuyu is talking about was there many years ago.NDCC,NDMA has been in existent for many years. He is not speaking the truth, or may be he doesn't know.
I worked with Mr Michuku to clear the grogan area.We struggled with drainahes which were blocked.
Let the officer not digress to non -pracrical issues

60,000 people have been affected? Its common sense that this is false. Slum areas affected by the floods cumulatively have in excess of 1,000,000 people; Kibra, Mathare etc. So saying that only 60,000 people have been affected in a Nairobi is a severe understatement.😅

Why are you discussing on how to disburse money or humanterian aide in the midst of flooding. The weather changes are ahead of you when you are supposed to be prepared before disaster strikes. Kenyans are good at interpretating laws but no actions. Why did the government not declare a state of emergency when flooding started so that all humanterian agencies could start moving people to safer grounds. This is not time to discuss about the budget. This is very sad

Mr shimiyu is pathetic and baseless only good in paper work but not in management. Using unprofessional arguments, articulations and strategies that doesn't help our people, quite offensive to our people. What steps Nairobi city council has taken in order to mitigate disasters affecting our people? They are the fellow who prepares policies strategies and enactment of guidelines. They know the consequences of encroachment of river channels drainage systems seasonal rivers and springs. What measures have been taken to evacuate, creat awareness or to avert and stop process and loopholes people are using to access these places?

African just don’t have respect for other Africans in positions… the way and manner this guy is addressing the DM staff in the studio, I bet he would never do such when hosting a foreign team member for any services… we simply do not value ourselves… this approach is very unprofessional
