To be fair, hots judging character difficulty is a joke. There is a night and day difference between a decent Malf and an expert Malf, since there is sooooo much micromanagement to take care of. Yes his abilities are simple on paper but using them properly is very difficult
@@exeterra4825 that's not the problem - they just never changed his difficulty after his rework. those difficulties are only determined by skill floor, not skill cap

Rehgar, Idk as a fast but he clearly got the most reworks and large changes out of any healer. They can't keep the dude reasonably balanced. The only real time he felt ok was back when he had blood for blood. Before the total talent overhaul where his shield or chain heal was out of control back in the day.
Now this version of Rehgar? This version is not even that fun (compared to older versions) but his numbers is out of control. So sad.
@@boomknight1015 i'd argue he is quiet fun right now. but that may be my bias cuz of a 3 year break and the nostalgia of being able to cast Ancestral on yourself again xD also the best if not, only healer that can solo merc camps at any level of the game.
@@Shadow.24772 He is not the worse hero fun wise just older versions was more enjoyable. His builds are not really interesting because once his numbers get lowered to where they should be it will be clear he is just meh.
@@boomknight1015 i get what you mean. though, wave clear wise, with his lighting shield build will probably no get nerfed, so...if you need more waveclear on top of his 45 to 23(?) sec baseline cleanse, he will still have his place.
also, talking about older versions being more enjoyable. Uther and BW piano build days, we're the most fun i've had as a support in this game.

A character that was reworked too much and just left to be overly complex and less fun in a role that is better and more easily performed by other characters.
lore accurate. in World of warcraft I never liked restoration (healer) druid because managing those heal over time spells are pain the in the butt when everyone else taking damage
@@alihorda I actually enjoyed Resto Druid spec more than any other healing spec, but it had its limitations.
It would be cool if the tree dude didn’t die on duration, and you could scale his health up with a talent to turn him into a late game siege champion. Maybe hitting a root on a hero permanently increases its health permanently or something. Idk how they would do it, but I think it would be cool if a support could also contribute to split pushes. It would definitely create an interesting play style for support players. Tree dude needs to be more important to his kit. He’s adorable 😊

The sleep after root is really disgusting on Malfurion but out side of that, his numbers are not there and it's sad.
@@justanexpensivemistake I miss the old version that had good heals mid to late game but they gutted any real power Malf had as a healer. After having taken a break for like 2 years, came back and I found a ton of heros got gutted and there is not "strong build" anymore and the go to builds don't feel effective like they used to. Talking Bomb gas with shredder would legit delete melee comps and I tired the new version and his bombs and sorta trash now.
Malf is complex compared to most but he really is not complex. Not compared to old school panino Uther build. There is not much to get. Droop Roots to zone or at their feet, Moon fire then, give the d to allys when they got low blue bars, give them the heal when they have low green bars and press r in team fights, either being close to one team or another. He doesn't have a lot to think about. Granted I used to main prerework hammer and back when there was ammo lost Vikings. Now if you wanna know complex that was some sussy stuff right there.
That last engagement basically lost you the game. Qhira blindly walking into the enemy team, missing all of her skills, and getting blown up, followed by the butcher walking into a maw and focusing kerrigan despite knowing she has her husk... Just a stupid engagement.
That qhira was awful. Lunara always split from team too.

Loving this series so much. So glad you covered the ENT build. Those were some of my favorite vids from you. Just Building the little broccoli into a force to be reckoned with.
TBT pally got me started on Malfurion back in the day with one simple quote..."The roots are real!!!"
Good effort on Malfurion. I remember when he was the best healer in the game and was everywhere. His Q was a much larger heal over time. It was like a sippy cup every time he cast it. With his rework they made him so complicated to play. His heal is garbage unless he can keep landing his small skill shot on heroes. It was like the developers thought, "how do we get this guy to be less popular? I know. Make him the most frustrating healer to play." And a short while later you can hear the cheers of "Mission accomplished!" coming from the developers offices.

I used to play Malf all the time with no problems but I started a game with him the other day and I was absolutely awful.

Staggering deaths is so punishing. Your team staggered so hard, and the enemies were good with their ults to nullify yours. Kudos to them. Also, the Kerrigan really came online with the Ultrealisk. Was it a throw? Maybe, Winnable? For sure.

Some supports need reactive abilities likes thorns effects where auto hits deal back damage and striking them causes debuffs or stuns and passives where the explode when the die to punish for killing them off.
40-7-1 now following your builds. This is one of those take the win and run games because this hero really stresses me out. I feel like I need to work so hard to do what other healers just do naturally. He feels like a harder version of Whitemane, who's already a pretty high APM hero. There's talents I would've taken at 7 and 16 that make him feel a little easier but such is the challenge with playing along with a pre-picked build. A positive note to end on: Malfurion does pair really well with Kaelthas
I liked the old-timey pre-rework Malfurion. This version would probably work a lot better if the heal was on a charge system and didn't cost mana. Then you could throw out the hots and focus on juicing them with damage.
Seems like half way through the game you started using the Entangling Roots for zoning and vision instead of saving it for Butcher charges. I think you would have succeeded in far more picks (even in team fights) if the Roots weren't on cooldown!
Malph is one of my mains. It's so rewarding to confirm kills with his room! One thing I had to teach myself with him was to put out my regrowth before its needed since it's an over time heal.

Malfurian is a simple character in theory. A heal over time, a blast that can burst heal with the HoT, a slow spreading root, a mana regen ability that can only be use on allies and last an AoE heal (with armor) or AoE silence. All of this is fairly simple to think about.
The problem is you are doing this all at once so good luck.

Honestly I love picking up talents that improve Moonfire and Regrowth, along with the 2-charge innervate and the returned mana talents.
I think they need to make innervate a passive aura that grants mana regen. It would give a hectic hero one less thing to worry about. And i think the self hot should be baseline.
10:48 Pally talks in depth about talents and just leaves out picking his ult. Oof.
Coming from a resto shaman in wow to this was so satisfying.
If you are really mana hungry, go for the more mana quest at lvl. 1, and I think there’s a talent at level 16, that allows innervate to apply to you as well. Personally, at level 7 I go for the one that extends the heal duration when you land moonfire hits, this just helps me not get so overwhelmed when you play.

Man I wish they'd rollback the rework on Malfurion, they effectively nerfed him from the best Heal over time support into a less effective version of Whitemane :-(
He's nothing like whitemane, she's a burst healer, malf is a sustain healer. Malf does better at high rank coordinated play
@@georgebouverie3348 The rework changed Malfurion's Regrowth so that it regen'd much slower unless you used Moonfire on opponents to speed up the heal.
This is similar in play to Whitemanes Zeal mechanic but is less effective and feels out of place in his kit IMO.
@@GregorLol I'd say they are complete opposites. Whitemane burst healing with q spam is very strong, but you need to do damage to do sustain healing and maintain your mana, except maybe with divine reckoning as a burst heal with zeal. Malfurion base q healing is very slow, but his healing from damage is more bursty.
@@georgebouverie3348 Yes but the broad stroke mechanic of hit targets for more healing is the same and that's what I'm getting at.
Before Malfurion was reworked he didn't have this mechanic and operated more as a backline Healer with powerful heals over time.
Malfurion is the Jay-Z of HotS. He's got the hottest girl in the game.

Double support used to be meta for a while, but Blizz didn't like that so they nerfed supports across the board. That's why most supports have a poor w/l ratio now.

isn't it your main heal spell? not regrowth? sure put regrowth on everyone, but you're not really healing them if you're not casting moonfire off cooldown. it does shit dmg right, but it also heals your whole team. like wtf :P

Did he use innervate even once the entire game? Mana aside, doesn't it lower cd's too? I feel like there were a few clutch fights where a carry with it would have done a lot more dmg, or on himself QQQQQQ with 10% missing health regen instant would have been useful. Hindsight is always 20/20 of course, but still.

So that abatur fucked up massively, he took the push talents. If you have a mega carry in your game, knowing that the best combo with them is an abatur that enhances them, why would you not do it.
I was looking at healer winrates post patch the other day, and ALL healers other than Rehgar are on the bottom in quick match, below all other roles. Seems like Rehgar being OP has just pushed everyone else down, since auto matchmaking needs to put him up against another healer. TLDR: Healer winrates skewed cuz Rehgar
Is pally really over looking Emerald Dreams? It's an SSS tier talent and more than doubles the amount of time that a target is stunned. I would only really pick broccoli for the meme.

@@georgebouverie3348 It's definitely great and very funny if you're getting a ton of stacks, but the added sleep has so much value that it makes up for almost any mistakes you make later. Every time that someone escaped butcher would have been a guaranteed kill if they were slept for 2 seconds.
