  • The Hunter Douglas DuoLite is a great way to get multiple functions from one window treatment. In this case we chose a room darkening and a sheer fabric for this Sparks Nevada client. There are many other choices of fabrics, but these were perfect for the functional needs of this customer. This client chose to use a cordless mechanism, but there are other options available as well. Please visit our website and search for the term DuoLite to find more information on this product. You can find us at kemplerdesign.com to learn more or make an appointment. Thanks for watching.

Hello Kempler Design, too bad they don't make this DuoLite system which is awesome, compatible with their LightLock system. See in your video how light still comes in on the edges? The LightLock system is supposed to prevent that. I'd love to have window treatments that give me 100% light blockage like what LightLock gives for night time sleeping but during the day a sheer shade so I can still enjoy looking outside. What do you recommend?

Good question Herc. I don’t have a formal answer, but my guess is that because the sheer or light-filtering fabric allows light to pass through it, it would limit the light blocking ability of the shade. As far as my suggestion goes, I guess I would need to know what your window configuration is. But, bottom line, I’d probably suggest a layered choice. Simplest would be a LightLock inside the window and a sheer type product mounted over the top as an outside mount.

Can the Duette Literise be mounted upside down so that the shade rises from below and is held in the up (closed) position by a hook on the window sash?

Here is the webpage for Hunter Douglas Customer Support. help.hunterdouglas.com/s/ . I don’t really understand your question, but keep in mind that Hunter Douglas does NOTHING out of specifications. But, if you are creative, you can probably accomplish anything you’d like to do. I have no personal opinion on your question though, since I don’t quite get it. Thanks for asking me though.

@@PaulKempler Thanks for the quick reply. I have an oddly shaped window (elongated pentagon) with two adjacent "normal" windows. A previous H-D design had a top-down shade on rails which allowed all 3 windows to have the shades at the same height when closed. There was no headrail to see when the center shade was lowered - a nice, clean look. Now, someone suggested turning the Duette honeycomb shade with Literise upside down so all three windows will have the same look without a headrail to intrude across the center window when all three are open. It would remain UP with a small hook attached to the shade and the sash. (A picture would be worth a thousand words.)

The bottom just hangs lifeless, I try to lift it up but it doesn’t go up

Hello Mike. It sounds like the mechanism is not functioning. Did you purchase the shade? Or did you buy the home with it already installed. It can be fixed either way, but I’d suggest contacting a local dealer and asking for assistance. If that doesn’t work for you, contact us and we will try to assist you. Thanks for reaching out.
