They aren't underrated. Blues rock just isn't really a mainstream genre, so it's fair to say they are rated correctly given the genre of music they play.

I first heard way down we go on the voice sung by a young contestant a couple of years ago. I recorded the show and kept on playing it over and over for.about a year. Then I found more songs. This band is mesmerizing!!! What a soulful, bluesy voice! What he does with his voice is phenomenal including his whistling. 77 years young woman watching one of his outdoor concerts. His songs haunt me in a good way! What an amazing talent!!! Can't get enough. It's almost 10pm and I'm sitting on my patio in the dark with a glass of wine and vibing to this awesome music.
At first, I wanted to say thank you to "JJ" and the band. But, Kaleo, is everyone in this band. JJ, Thor, David, Daniel, Rubin, April and Jessica, thank you from the bottom of all our hearts and soul! You have brought heart and soul back in music, post 2020. We love you!
Probably the reason you don't hear the crowd so well is the lack of crowd mics, no reason to have mics pointed towards the crowd when the music is the way it is
I was there and I expected more energy as well but there 2 things to take into consideration: 1: it was scalding warm and everyone was on "survival mode" and 2: it's a cultural thing.. I'm Brazilian and we're used to sing our lungs out with the bank and it's always an amazing energy, but in the Netherlands apparently they don't really sing along as they are there to listen to the bank and not other people (that's what I heard that day when I queries why everyone was so silent/quiet). I agree 10000% with you though.. that was disappointing to see such an amazing bank to not receive anything back from the crowd
It was scorching hot that day and in all honesty there was not much energy coming from the band either. I love kaleo’s music, but the only interaction came from the girls which makes it a more American act in my opinion. The girls are awesome, but for me take away from the rest of the band. Also, I think Kaleo is not as popular and well known in the Netherlands as they should be.
As people have said here, Imma say it as well. You have no idea how fucking hot it was. I was there myself and it was not fun to be standing there sweatin my balls off. On the Dutch crowd thing, I like to think of it this way. We don't interact during the songs because most of us really want to hear the music as good as we can get. That's on the artist to really show their craft. We like to give our shouts and praise after the song has ended. Now I remembered that this crowd was indeed not as enthousiastic as many hoped it would be but I can assure you that that was mostly due to the weather.
This band is amazing with one of the best lead vocalists out there. Like everyone else is saying, this band is highly underrated. They need to be heard!!!!😠

Im from New Zealand ..im 73 ..and When i was at a live New Year Concert late 90s I watch and listened to Michael Hutchence for the first time ..I know then i felt we were witnessing a Star....Imfeel same about these guys and that voice ..so exciting im alive to witness this ...
I was a "TWO Song on Pandora" instant fan! I then, while on a flight to Las Vegas, purchased two tickets to a show the did in South Beach, FL. They put on a FANTASTIC show! I cannot wait to see them again. But being world travelers as they are this wait might be a while. THEY ARE GREAT
It's so cool when a band not just plays studio versions adapted for concerts, but does some extra effort to make it sound better! Absolutely love endings of Backbone and Hot Blood with incredible backing vocals performance, that creates a really unique feeling!

wow what a show... I was thrilled like never before and I saw that He vocals were more amazing than I thought, as the introduction of backing vocals, besides being unnecessary, reduced not the quality but also the personality of the band.
Finally saw their live on June 2022 in Berlin and decided to start to learn the guitar right after that. They were fire, and after a show, I found Thorleifu( who plays the harmonica etc) asked a photo and talked with him, he was super super nice.
I’m no music expert, but it sounded like Rubin’s guitar was tuned to the wrong key at the start of Hot Blood, but then during the second verse, he corrected it and then it sounded clean for the chorus again. Still killed it of course, Hot Blood is such a killer song
