The guitar was recorded by Noah during a Twitch stream that he did. I guess later they recorded it. Byt it was a collaborative process - the fans gave ideas for the lyrics for the 1st verse and the chorus. And Noah picked his favorite lines and then later made some changes, but the viewers of his stream still wrote like half of the song!
This is probably the most untalked about deep cut on this album. Crazy that you picked this one. This whole album is perfect. It's crazy when you hear their older stuff just how far theyve come too. 15 perfectly placed tracks, all different from the last, it's gonna be hard for them to top this album moving forward.
It took me forever to finally get past Who are You and Somebody Else bc I just loved every song from Concrete Jungle all the way through Somebody Else SOOOOO MUCH. I finally just started letting it play through though, and Jesus Christ. It has been since Ænima in the later 1990s that I've heard an album on which I ABSOLUTELY LOVE EVERY EFFING SONG. Every single one. I haven't discovered a current, "new" band that I'm this obsessed with since Tool in my early teens. Of course I like some songs on The Death of Peace of Mind a little more than others, but there is not ONE SINGLE SONG that I dislike or skip on that entire album. I know their earlier sound was different in ways and was a lot harder at times, and there are quite a few older songs that I do like a lot. BUT, I feel like Noah was still trying to find his full confidence, his full vocal ability, and HIS OWN TRUE VOICE until The Death of Peace of Mind. Like, on their cover of Come Undone - there are moments, same as in a few other earlier songs too, where he has this sort of whiney, not at all authentic, ANGSTY sound to his voice, and it feels to me like he was maybe trying to sound how he thought he was "supposed" to sound for the genre/label/fans or something??...hard to explain. He knew he could scream and growl like a beast, but I think it took until this last album for him to be confident and comfortable enough to fully realize his vocal potential by experimenting with what all he could do with his voice. I think he's now really found his OWN TRUE VOICE, which is nothing short of absolutely amazing. This is going to sound like blasphemy for anyone who knows me bc I've been a devout Tool fan since I was 16 years old. I'm 42 now and I can honestly say that I have quite literally grown up with Tool. Their music, even with the long years of waiting between albums, has truly been the main soundtrack of my life. I've grown and healed and changed and learned and matured right along with them while they've done the same things as musicians, artists, and people. Anyway, I'm blathering on too much as usual lol...I swear I DID come here to say something about Miracle lol. I have a point...I think... SOOO, despite my lifelong Tool devotion, I HONESTLY think that Noah is or has the potential to become an even greater vocalist than Maynard, and that's something I never in a hundred years thought I'd EVERRRRR say. Even his screaming/growling stuff - which has never been my cup of tea even when Maynard does it and he does it WELL, make no mistake (hello??? The end of The Grudge???!!! Loads of songs on Ænima?!?) - is just fucking astronomical. I can't believe how much I enjoy Artificial Suicide. But there's something about Miracle... when I first heard the lines "It's not too late to die for a reason, fall down on the sword you were swinging. I wanted to dress a blade up in red with both of our necks but I wasn't able, and I wasn't stable... I guess. But nevertheless I'm fucking depressed, I hide it with sex and drink till it's fatal. It's so fucking painful. It's a mess..." Holy Shit man. There are certain lines from songs and poems that I wish I had written. That part about wanting to dress a blade in red with both of our necks... damn man. And the fact that they put Miracle at the very end of the album... it's like a fucked up cry for help, especially the very last "I-NEED-A-MIRACLLllllleeee....", with the effects making it sound almost psychotic or something. Just BRILLIANTLY done. Truly. It's hands down the best album I've heard in 20+ years. I am both scared and excited to see what they do next, because The Death of Peace of Mind is so effing good, I don't know how they'll ever be able to top it. All I know is that I sure as HELL hope they do and that they keep making masterful albums like that for many years to come.
It’s the diversity that really makes this band stand out in my opinion, a lot of people don’t like there slower more mellow tracks but it’s what makes them unique. I love how this band band could either put you to sleep or make you wanna punch a hole through a wall. It all just shows how creative and unique this band is. It to mention Noah’s vocals are some of the best of this generation.(in my opinion)
If you’re curious, here’s the video from the twitch stream where Noah & some of his viewers created the bare bones of this song - ruclips.net/video/iMJtWtfozdg/видео.html
Please check out the album version of Mercy, I know you did the unplugged version but they’re very different. It’s so good. One of my favorite BO songs. I’ve never been able to get into Somebody Else, the R&B vibe is just not for me.

Noah wrote this whole song during a Twitch livestream during Covid lockdown.

Have you done miracle?? Best song!
You also missed a “who are you” track from the death of peace of mind album which is also a slow and chill song but very good one ❤
I don’t think you’ve heard Miracle yet either. It’s one of my favorites from the album!

I believe "Who are you" has a similar sound to this song
