Update:The company apologized and explained that this song is inspired by 1984 of George Orwell, with the intention of make a correspondence between the oppression that korean teens feel in the society and the oppression of totalitarism period. They also changed the lyrics as you can see and they're going to record some parts. About the outfits they also explained that they haven't anything to do with what we were thinking

“Crystal night is coming” wasn’t referring to the historical event but to what crystal symbolizes : transparency, purity. They even talk about that in “the crystals that protected us are shattered” which means that there is no more purity in this world and that hypocrisy and lies just fucked up the “transparency” of the world. The “crystal night is coming” alludes to the fact that the world is going to be pure again and transparent which means without hypocrisy, lies and manipulation. “Night” is also a metaphor to depict the darkness of the society we live in. If you take in consideration ALL the lyrics that’s what is denounced throughout the song, nothing to do with “crystal night” of 1938 and we find that reference in a lot of poems actually, it is often used as a metaphor…
Also, about the clothes, I mean this kind of uniform obviously looks like nazis’ one because it is a military one. Other idols wore it such as ATEEZ in “Wonderland” and they weren’t accused of being nazis… If we consider history to put clothes on then we should say to all the people wearing Hugo Boss they are nazis too since this brand participated actively in the nazi party until its capitulation and manufactured the uniforms of soldiers. I hear a lot of German people, maybe you are actually one of them saying that they are ashamed of the past actions of Hitler but why are you? It wasn’t you, I mean every country has its own more or less dark history but we should just learn through it not to do the same mistakes and we shouldn’t live depending on it. I totally understand that you guys could have been shocked by the sentence due to your history but please try to see the lyrics as they are with an objective point of view. The evocation of crystal wasn’t to allude to the crystal night of 1938 but highlight the symbolism of crystal and how it is not in our current society anymore, hope you understood me…
Also for the dogs in the mv i think it alludes to Cerberus the black dog with 3 heads that lives in hell according to the mythology, as they talk about hell “writhe in the hell” I believe that’s why dogs are here
The company was actually doing a very good job with EPEX, but after seeing these Lyrics and MV, understanding the actual meaning I can say that this is a huge NO. I feel like EPEX is releasing really good songs. I mean it’s just one song. But the company better should delete the entire song because changing the lyrics from “Night“ to ”Light“ won‘t help at all.

Luckily most people here are smart enough to know that it’s not EPEX‘s fault. We should support them, because they worked hard and they have really good songs. Even this one could be great if it wouldn’t be the ugly, disrespectful lyrics. Due to the controversy, I heard many Asians say that the topic isn’t teaches in most Asian schools, so EPEX might have no clue about what they were singing…

@@drycoochie2146 the song and mv include some references to the Crystal Night that took place in Germany prior to WWII when jewish people were attacked and murdered. lyrics in the song “crystal night is coming” or “i can see them burning raw” is a literal reference to holocaust and genocide and is very traumatic issue to lots of people.

i can't get over baekseung's rap, it's so catchy. the members did such a great job with this song, i just wish the lyrics could've been different from the beginning and we could've avoided all the negativity

The crystal night they are referring to in the lyrics and the whole aesthetic of the music video is based on crystal night 1938 which is where nazis killed and attacked Jews prior to the holocaust and is a very tragic event!
