Whether you respect him or not but this was a legendary lap. No doubt he is in the best car but still he has a damn strong neck to handle those intense Gs & great concentration to execute every single turn that perfectly. Hats off...
I agree but handling those G's is what every driver can handle and also the concentration is a part which the top 5 drivers are capable of doing as well
The cornering speed in the S-curves is simply out of this world. And you can think of Hamilton as negative as you want, but when it comes down to qualifying Lewis sometimes seems unbeatable. His ability to perform a perfect lap is fantastic. And no, I'm not a Hamilton fan but you can't deny that he is a great racing driver.
310Kmph at turn 130R!! that looked scary! Also the momentum through S curves was just mind blowing! I was able to almost feel those forces just by watching in a 2D video...
Yes the thing is with more drag these cars are slower on straights and before 130R there is a long straight so this corner is actually slower than it was before. Because it was easy flat also in 2016 and they had bigger entry speed.
Anyone who says F1 drivers arent athletes should watch this video. Man, you can feel the G-forces through the screen, 1st corner was insane, and 130r with 310km/h, its just mind blowing.

I wish him the best. I think it’s unfair for anyone to judge a public figure’s true character without knowing that individual on a personal basis. Just my opinion since I noticed lots of negative comments on him. These guys are all pros and I respect that. I drove recently on the Belgian F1 track, crazy how fast these guys can drive on it in F1. Much respect.
Pray for Schumacher, we will always have you in our memories and never forget all those times we watched you dominate and change F1. Stay strong and get well soon.
spped in the corners seems absolutely monstrous .. watching the pole position af Ayrton the differences in all corners are so big.... nice pole Lewis :D
I'm a Ferrari fan but this was on another level. Massive respect to Lewis but let's hope the race won't be boring and onesided... reminds me of 2016 again
LOVE the telemetry circle, it makes it so much more in depth because sometimes when you watch a car go around a track you cant really break down what's really going on beyond "yeah that's looks pretty fast". but with the speed, the gears, the throttle, the brake data laid out in front of you, you understand every little move and it really puts the drivers skill on display. if only the g forces were on there as well!
im literally learning new techniques from watching the telemetry: look at the way he doesn't downshift before he starts braking. He brakes all the way down to the speed he wants, then shifts down to the gear he wants AFTER. See, I would never think to do this because in theory it increases your braking distance, but i guess the stability of having it in higher gear into the turn was worth it considering the result... funny how the textbook line isn't always the best for each driver. its all about how you string it together and find your own speed and style
Pure quality driving skills. Having onboard cameras is what really makes formula exciting to watch. Watching the drivers wiz around the track together becomes very boring after a few laps. They so need to have more onboard camera clips like this video to bring in more viewers. This video really shows how hard it is to do what they do. you can you can sense all the high speed turns and appreciate the whole sport a lot more. Lewis looking in top form.
Amazing lap. I see Senna in Lewis. I met Ayrton, and marveled at the way he turned his head, side-to-side as he drove. Incredibly smooth, with a fluid steering style. Lewis gets into the groove, and makes everyone else look so slow. Vettel was a terrible sport: grudging in his praise for Mercedes, and his radio outbursts are so childish. Last week, he unloaded on Stroll, I believe, for supposedly “driving into me”. When the race footage was reviewed, by the BBC crew, Stroll held the racing line and didn’t move his steering wheel. The accident was Vettel’s fault, as are so many race incidents involving him. He can be a decent driver, when he has the best car, with the best set-up, but he’s a bad loser, and his outbursts are bad for the sport. I hope Lewis trounces him, tomorrow. I hope Botha’s gets back to winning, or number two, because he’s a great driver, and a better ambassador for the sport. Vettel is all about Vettel, and Formula One deserves more class. Senna, Hamilton, Botha’s, Button, Berger, and so many others have been ultra competitive, without becoming foul-mouthed, and selfish. Good luck to Mercedes, tomorrow!
Absolute Legend. Suzuka seems to be a very high speed track.. Speed dropped to less than 100km/hr only the hairpin and Chicane part. Those high speed corners!! wow
You can hate him on his personality or on the way he dresses but you can't deny Lewis Hamilton is one of the all time greats to sit on a F1 cockpit , without hating on him appreciate him look at bottas he's I'm no way of Hamilton's level
No you can't. There's nothing dislikable about his personality. The only people that hate him are racists and that's a fact. You can hate the way he dresses though lol that's justified
I respect him as a driver and as a person. I like the way his acts off the track, I like his style, I respect his choice of lifestyle. I don't think he is unnecessarily arrogant. You are triggered because you disagree with me. Yes, you.
That was a flawless lap. Hardly any steering input. So calm, yet carrying all that speed. He's handling these big cars beautifully. I know he's in a Merc and all these cars have amazing gearboxes and brakes now but that's sensational.
His driving is so smooth it doesn't even feel fast. I've seen videos from the mid 2000's of Schumacher driving one of those monster cars around Suzuka and it feels really fast; you can see him chopping at the wheel and struggling with traction. Lewis makes it look easy.
Great lap. I think there’s still room to shave couple hundredths with that car. He missed the apex at one slower of the corners and couple of fast ones. Hopefully he would beat his own record next year.
never dropped down gear 3, and the management of the first sector was superb. Definitely taking inspiration from him when driving on this circuit on the f1 videogame.
It's the slow corners which actually are shocking in terms of the average speed those cars have. A couple of 90° corners a Formula 1 car takes at almost 200 kph, whilst a super-hyper-mega-roadcar with semislicks doesn't manage to hit 120 kph...
Lol why did you mention Villeneuve ffs! Ham is great when its going well, similar to Vettel! For me you prove yourself as a driver when things are shit! Schumacher went to a laughing stock of a team at the time(ferrari) and won races in that car in the first few years when it was awful which everyone forgets. He went toe to toe with the mclarens which were on another page and made F1 interesting. Thats the sign of a legend!
Lewis did that to Vettel during the years Redbull was winning and his car was not the best - he often put it on the front row behide Vettel. He had 8 wins between 2009 and 2011 when he didnt even have the second best car. That's like what Danny Ric is doing today except Lewis was doing on pace and not luck.
Maciu Vatu sorry, last I checked senna was 3sec a lap faster in Monaco in the wet in the slowest car on the grid and past Alain Prost in 1st place literally milliseconds before the race was stopped because Prost said it was too dangerous. The man was driving bar non like a man possessed. Senna will never be outclassed. Closest person to ever be near him in skill was Jim Clark and Schumacher I’m his prime
I know how hard suzuka is to play even on esports. That man #44 just made it look easy. I've never, ever seen someone make suzuka look that easy. And now I've got to stop cuz I've a lump in my throat
He's the best driver, like Senna, and the most consistent (like Schumi). Lewis will be remembered as the GOAT. Once all the racists die off and the world judges him for his accomplishments this will be 100% obvious.
People keep saying it's just the car But time and time again Lewis keeps giving us moments like this... It's driver and car working together is what it is
The car is so stable, it looks on rails ! no jerky steering mouvement. now compare that with onboards from the 90's and 2000's and see the difference between the steering wheel movements. amazing !
A complete flawless driving. Felt like he is an integral part of the car. No doubt that he got the best car for suzuka this year. Lets see the results.
I thought Lewis won European championship racing against Vettel and Roseberg in their teenage years. Was he still driving a better car of did it have something to do with him being a good driver?? Do you know that these drivers have been racing each other since they were about 13- 14 years of age till now? If you didn't know, now you know. Joel Nsadha Buddy, I’m talking about about now. Not when they were teenagers. I’m talking their F1 Careers. Okay. Sorry if your slow. Also trust me I’m not new to Motorsport especially when I’m a part of it.
Googelplex are you talking about Singapore or Malaysia; where the Ferrari was CLEARLY a lot faster than the Mercedes but failed to win due to Vettel's mistakes or reliability issues? Are you talking about Mexico, where the Ferrari was again quicker but Vettel crashed into Hamilton on the first lap; ruining both of their races? All you're doing is making excuses...
Whether you respect him or not but this was a legendary lap. No doubt he is in the best car but still he has a damn strong neck to handle those intense Gs & great concentration to execute every single turn that perfectly. Hats off...
Sadly can't argue with that.
The irony of every sport is the very best always make something that's hard look incredibly easy.
I agree with you
Kartikey Awasthi How these guys are even see those corners to take them at those speeds is beyond me
I agree but handling those G's is what every driver can handle and also the concentration is a part which the top 5 drivers are capable of doing as well

coasting in 8th until needing the power band again, sounds about right. works every time in the games too.
I always went outside that turn in the game.

What a car and what a driver! The speed he carries into the corners is surreal, could spend the whole day watching this.
