My take on visibility is a bit mixed. I understand that queer people have certain experiences that make them relatable in roles like this and traditionally didnt have that many opportunities, but at the same time 1) We don't want to stereotype people. I want queer people to play straight roles (like Jonathan Bailey in Bridgerton) without being the token gay character all the time and 2)people dont need to feel the pressure to disclose their sexuality to the world (we don't want another HS case and the bifobia coming with it). I believe that the minimum we expect is the respect, taste and support I'm feeling from Sam.
