Because the character exists in a timeless void of stupidity, she can envision these historical moments and figures in a way that most regular people wouldn’t dwell on. Asking what people thought of Churchill being fat back then is actually kind of interesting.
The world needs Philomena, now more than ever. She alone (with the help of her research team: i.e. brilliant writers) could help us come to terms with the fact that it's all gone terribly pear-shaped of late.

People say sequels are are crap but much like Ghostbusters 2, and Aliens- the SFX in War 2 were a lot better than in War 1 even though it was still in black and white.
I thought the black and white worked really well. Very gritty. And the bad guy would have looked silly in colour (my one criticism is that the Japanese and Italian secondary baddies just cluttered the narrative--especially when it felt like it ended but we had to sit through that tacked on act at the end with all that nuclear weapons nonesense). Still, the Threequel looks interesting from the teaser trailers. I like what they've done, having two main villains; that crazy orange Americn man and the Russian repressed homosexual chap who's eyes are too close together. There's some rumours on the internet that the Germans team up with the goodies in this one. I reckon David Bowie might turn up at the end for a shock cliffhanger.
@@J_D_Sisson Hello from the future. We are currently experiencing the prequel to WW3, which I hear will be a whole series. It's an immersive multimedia experience. As per usual, it is set in Eastern Europe, unfortunately writers were a little lazy with researching Slav culture (I mean both the main goodie and main baddie have the same first name), (Well, unless it's a metaphor, as Volodymyr was the guy who founded Rus all these centuries ago?). But the overall production is terrifyingly real. The Germans are on the fence on who to side with, so they got their pipeline blown up by a man who would rather remain anonymous. The orange guy turned out to be secretly working for the repressed Russian.
They’re really good at picking people who are very passionate and serious about whatever the topic is, they end up being the straight man and not even realize it.

From what I understand it's called Moments Of Wonder. It's a Spin-off of a satirical show called Charlie Brooker's Weekly Wipe, where the character Philomena Cunk first appeared. Apparently she was so popular that they gave her her own specials and series. If you think this is funny you should check out the latest one Cunk On Earth.
I can't believe this passes as great humour, pretending to be stupid, it's funny for about 2 minutes, doing this in circles gets boring fast... how British comedy has fallen..
