the rotors are in sync and the power is distributed through 5 transmissions. each engine has a nosebox that send power to the combining xmsn then to the fwd and aft xmsn from there. they are set to never meet.
Robert1983USA, murderbagINC is correct. The C-box (Combining Xmsn) receives the power from the engines xmsns mounted in from of each engine and transfers it to the fwd and aft xmsn. It is at the C-box that the rotors are sychronized through a safety mecahnism. I used to crew B's and C's model as a Flight Engineer and i can tell you the Chinook is a very versatile helicopter.
In the Army we jokingly referred to helicopters as airplanes. ATC would never call anything but a fixed wing aircraft an airplane as regs that govern helicopters differ greatly than that of airplanes. That aside, the chinook is an awesome airplane.
ok i thought about that when i was looking for this comment because i was reminded of the gear timing system in the old fighter bi-planes that are there so they don't shoot the propellers off but ok i guess i just thought i saw the blade higher sounds like your right
Awesome helicopter, awesome flying, too much talk. For those that wish to be particular: A helicopter is an AirCRAFT (it is not an AirPLANE) - adviser Dave Morgan is correct. AirCRAFT - an aeroplane, helicopter, or other machine capable of flight. AirPLANE - an aeroPLANE. AeroPLANE - a powered flying vehicle with FIXED wings and a weight greater than that of the air it displaces.
the americans have done a good job building that but lets not forget its partly british designed an britain an france will never be defeated due to us making concorde anamerica did try ;)
man chinooks are amazing, one of the fastest helicopters and one heck of a work horse

2:27-2:34 Absolutely impressive show of piloting skill.
Those are actually fun to ride in...
I like the analogy.." It's like marmite, either you like it or you hate it" LOL
No, both rotor discs are connected to eachother mechanically, that's why they don't hit eachother. They DO cross eachother all the time.

they sure don't fly them like this at SeaFair or US military air shows.

Was the commentator Alan Partridge? ffs!
Does he have to keep calling it an "aeroplane"?
Also he is talking to everyone like they have never seen anything in the sky before.
Thumbs up if you came here from either related videos or black ops
