I can only imagine how difficult it is to fire an arrow from horseback. But with no saddle!!? Aside from that, the horse didn’t freak out every time a boar charges! THIS IS AMAZING IN SO MANY WAYS!!!
the actual shooting is actually much easier than sports archery as we humans are made to shoot without actually "aiming" yet hit moving targets using muscle memory or as we also call it instinctual shooting....on the other hand, being able to shoot on horseback and not falling off is the very difficult type, i bet he had to fall off so many times until he got to the level he is at. you also need to train the horse to hunt with you which is yet another skill that needs to be trained. btw if you don't believe me about the instinctual shooting, get a scrappy bow and have a buddy throw coins or cans and you will see that in a short time you will be able to hit your target
@@PoeticSonic Well thats a load of horseshit, Nobody can naturally lead and aim a bow, Nobody can naturally lead and aim a rifle, You need to learn and be tought and practice, After all that its muscle memory.
The drone shots are just perfect! Everything about this video is so well done! And his accuracy while on horseback is so impressive not to mention the fact he’s not using a saddle lol
This probably what my husband had envisioned when he learned he was going to take horse back riding lessons. Boy was he disappointed when he realized the truth.
I never comment on videos, but I can't not here. This is amazing plain and simple. I ride, I shoot off my horse but not this. The horsemanship, the horses soundness and the riders composure are phenomenal. I need more videos like this, many more.
Not only is this the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen, it’s absolutely beautiful to see how fluid the guy and the horse are together! Incredible video!!
Danger Russ I agree, my horse in real life which I do mounted archery on is spur/leg trained but some horses are trained to just autopilot chase something. My friend‘s horse is trained to chase something like that.
He is giving the horse cues with his legs. This is something used in most riding regardless of what sport, but especially true for mounted archery because you can't use the reins.
We're already on the channel.. Releasing arrows at a moving target is quite impressive, training the horse alone into going from prey to predator is insanely difficult
Amazing! Plus he's doing it bareback. I've always heard that without standing in stirrups, horseback archery is nearly impossible. I guess this guy and the oldtime plains tribes didn't get the memo. Would that activity be too bouncy for a head-mounted GoPro camera? It would be neat to see the hunt from the rider's point of view.
The hog shows such bravery I say hats off to the courage of even wounded hogs turning to face the hunters. I wonder how many of the slain animals actually get used for food. Your riding and shooting skills are certainly notable. I am 75 still ride my stallion bareback and hunt. But I never kill for sport.
Best hunting video on RUclips along with the bison atlatl hunt. Would love to see more like this! Great job Ryan! A bison hunt like this would be epic. A few guys on horseback running them with your bows.
It gave me the chills from a past lifetime of real freedom and conquest. Relearning ancient archery w thumb draw and Mongol Bow. Just made a diy Comanche bow with Comanche style knockless arrows. My name means someone who works with horses. I need access to a horse for my next step in evolution! Lol
We need more stuff like this this is amazing horses are an underappreciated animal since we no longer use them for transport it would be awesome to see a resurgence in their use for things like this a coming together of rider and steed to make an excellent team
The drone camera work is amazing on this too! a lot of people might not realize how hard it is to keep steady control on a moving target like this. The drone footage adds so much to an already amazing hunt!
When i first saw this guy i wasn't convinced he knew what he was doing. But after watching several videos this guy seriously has skill. Very impressed.
I have seen the bison hunt vid a few minutes ago...THANK YOU for your work for science and archery/atlatl users!!! One of the best vids I have seen for years...
I know a few folks with bison out here in South Dakota. If you wanna be the first person to take a bison from horseback, I would be happy to help get you hooked up! Ryan and Tim know me, Tim knows my kitchen skills, too!
Wow ! What a team ! Bareback on a horse with a plains style horse bow (assuming) and the drone filming . It ran through the water and mud ,fast as the wind. The rider had such control . The horse is ,one of the best I ,have ever seen. This must have taken a long time to accomplish. I love to see my Florida scapes . I’m in Texas now and this makes me so happy to see . I can almost smell the moisture in the air and hear the sound of the water under feet . Those boars were fighters . The horse, was valiant. The archer demonstrated great horsemanship and superb shooting skills . More more more !
The heart of hunting. What it would feel like to have my horse as skilled as yours. I kill what I eat also. It has made an amazing bond with my dogs and those of my friends and family who have chosen to join me. So much of who we are has been lost on this "human as a pet" modern society. It is awesome to see so many different people reviving our skills.
That quite possibly was the most amazing hunting video I have ever seen! On horseback with "primitive gear", if that's primitive I want to know how, cause them hogs are dead!! Also the horse and rider were AMAZING as well!!
Wow!!! As usual the bar has been set and maintained by you Ryan! You never disappoint when you put something together. Vastin is an amazing horseman and deadly with that bow! Fantastic!!
Bareback, minimal gear, phenomenal riding skills and a gorgeous horse that responds so well and knows its job. You, sir, are amazing.
Thank u very much
That is awesome ,very well done.
What kind of horse? Tnx
@@vastinhall7865 That was beautiful. Just beautiful.
Vastin Hall was beautiful to watch
As a horseman, and a hunter, I can really appreciate this.
That’s why hogs call them white death...
Exactly
Same
Great minds think alike, for I too have been heavily invested in horses and hunting.
I can only imagine how difficult it is to fire an arrow from horseback. But with no saddle!!? Aside from that, the horse didn’t freak out every time a boar charges! THIS IS AMAZING IN SO MANY WAYS!!!
I get the sense this horse used to work with Farmers Insurance. He knows a thing or two because he's seen a thing or two!
Well considering we introduced both pigs and horses... probably not like this
the actual shooting is actually much easier than sports archery as we humans are made to shoot without actually "aiming" yet hit moving targets using muscle memory or as we also call it instinctual shooting....on the other hand, being able to shoot on horseback and not falling off is the very difficult type, i bet he had to fall off so many times until he got to the level he is at.

Best F'n hunting video ever! Great horsemanship.
Thank you very much, and I know Vastin appreciates it greatly too.
First real horseback hunt I have seen, and not just people going around shooting stationary targets.
Chuck Norris checks his closet for this dude before bed.
Fresh Steve hilarious!!
There are so many impressive things about this video! The archer, the horse, the gear, the drone footage all around impressive thanks for sharing Ryan.
Not to mention the tenacity of the hogs.
The drone shots are just perfect!
Everything about this video is so well done!
And his accuracy while on horseback is so impressive not to mention the fact he’s not using a saddle lol
Totally agree. I had to turn off the overly dramatic music though, very distracting and doesn't really fit with this amazing display of skill!
This probably what my husband had envisioned when he learned he was going to take horse back riding lessons. Boy was he disappointed when he realized the truth.
🤣🤣🤣
About what truth?
So what was the truth?
I'm curious genuinely
eduardo navarro The truth was that horse back riding was nothing like this when he was in lessons and showing horses at the fair. Lol
It's not as easy as it looks, I vet he thought he could just jump on and do whatever not realizing it takes real dedication and practice
I never comment on videos, but I can't not here. This is amazing plain and simple. I ride, I shoot off my horse but not this. The horsemanship, the horses soundness and the riders composure are phenomenal. I need more videos like this, many more.
That's what I'm saying! We need to have hunting opportunities like this....
Well, that looks like something I'd enjoy doing.
Haven't been on a horse in 20 years. Now I want to start again.
Not only is this the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen, it’s absolutely beautiful to see how fluid the guy and the horse are together! Incredible video!!
This horse is putting on a performance. He does very minimal steering and the horse is on autopilot while he is manning the gun on
the gunship.
That's unlikely. He's giving the horse most of its instructions with his legs, which is how you control a horse when you're riding bareback.
Excellent riding and shooting too. Circling lefthanded was exactly the tactic of mediaval huns and mongols .Congreats from Germany
I’m five seconds in and I must say this is one of your best videos yet
Imagine if he had a saddle and a cutting horse!!
Matt Benson where do you think he learned to ride like that😉
this is one the coolest thing i seen in awhile
My boy Vastin getting at it. I went to school with him and he's all about this primitive hunting. Check him out.
We're already on the channel.. Releasing arrows at a moving target is quite impressive, training the horse alone into going from prey to predator is insanely difficult
steven ames, what’s the name of his channel? I can’t find him, thanks
Litterally red dead redemption two in real life.
There is something graceful about horseback riding and bow and arrow. Thank you for reviving the tradition.
This is literally the best video I’ve ever seen on RUclips. Please make a longer version and show some behind the scenes on making it. Amazing!
There is no behind the scenes it just a drone recording real horseman hunting a boar.
That's takes a lot of coordination and well trained horse.
Awesome
The definition of old-school!
Our Scythian ancestors did this. Amazing video.

Best video ever!! It kinda takes us back to when Indians hunted that way! It gives us a clear view of how it was done back then!!

It makes me wonder whether the rider is taking horse for hunting or its otherway round. Amazing skills by both.
Joe Rogan and SC Gwynne need to see this.
That is one of the top hunting videos I've ever seen. Awesome.
Absolutely amazing! So much skill on so many levels, the ancestors would be proud.
Man that's something! The coordination between horse and rider is fantastic.
The best historical reproduction of wyldboar hunting i have seen yet !!!!
That's incredible. I never knew a horse could shoot a bow and arrow. Pretty dang accurate.
Respect to the hogs, they put up a great fight against the odds, hope their remains were treated with due honour.
Excelent video I really appreciate the combination of good horsemanship and good hunting.
As they would say .... proper mountain man!!! Only wish I lived in a place like that
Fantastic display of horse handling!
This is awsome, respect,to this guy n his 🐎. ..trully awsome...
Lovely video! Great horsmanship and bow-skills. Reminds me of the books about Ayla and her travels after she left the clan of the cave bear 🥰
Wow, what an awesome accomplishment! Great job!

I have seen this done in the hills of Perth WA with spears - but this is excellent horsemanship - great horse and photography
Absolutely awesome video the music at 5.00 is so nice.
As impressive as the hunting skill and horsemanship is, the drone footage is DOPE... 😎🤘
Thank you very much, we all greatly appreciate the kind words

Thats a well trained horse. Responded well to steering, didn't spook or ever slow down, all without a saddle.
