Nice job. The tone you are receiving in the background on your handitalkie is the oscillator stage that is running all the time. So that is a good thing as you actually key the PA output section. The 300 mw can be increased to more output by substituting with a 2n2222a or even a 2n3553 ( more current), so use a regulated 12 vdc power supply. Suggest installing a transistor socket so you can experiment with npn transistors on hand. One last thing, I would have liked to have heard your Pixie's receiver in action hooked to a computer amplified speaker, or similar. GL! 73 Denny

The receiver section is pretty deaf, but that's due to the very simple design and using the PA transistor as a crude detector.

Not yet, but I plan to give it a try once I've go a decent HF 40M antenna up.
