Awesome review man, your Vader clones lookin' HUGE! I prefer the matte black to Vader's armor similar to the one on the right at 11:11, but that doesn't take away from how incredible this release is.

I owned the Rogue One Vader, and I just picked up this one. I'll display the Rogue One with clean look and this one with battle damage look.

Great review! This is definitely shaping up to be the best Vader that HT has made. I think the ROTJ version can be on par with it if they fix the proportions instead of reusing 90% of the ESB figure.

I have the empire version but this is tempting to pick up because the prequel trilogy is my favourite and that moment between Anakin and Obi was powerful.

I just really wish Hot Toys would stop usind pleather and start using the real thing, however it's still mind blowing! 🤯 😊🍻
Yes!! I've started watching it again. This will be like my 5th or 6th run through of the series!! 😅 Yes pleather can be a pain in some environments!! Luckily humidity is low for me so I don't tend to experience any issues thankfully. Thanks for watching mate 👊🏻

There is sadly not many alternative. Rubber could degrade as well and real leather would make posing him near impossible. I hope it holds up as well as it does on my Rogue One Vader because mine only has 2 little spots between the legs where the holder touches where it came off. At least on a battle damaged Vader it would fit the look if some of the pleather is chipped.

oh it does look fantastic. Not for me as I have the Empire one, shorty is good for now. I've always struggled with Vader as I love Anakin and I'm in denial that he turned to the dark side. Great video as usual x
Thanks Mandy. I literally lol'd at "shorty" 😅 Can understand sticking with that one because it's definitely the most iconic Vader I think. Yeah I'm ALWAYS gutted what happens to Anakin in Ep3. Especially after watching Clone Wars with all that extra Anakin backstory with Snips 😭

It’s an absolutely fantastic figure! I haven’t owned previous iterations to compare but I’m definitely impressed. A couple of small gripes with it but in all it’s a beauty of a piece. Awesome review as always 🙌

Dynamite figure! Amazed that Hot toys finally decided to use the proper colored LED bulbs for the proper lights (including lightsaber). Adds sooo much to the final product. Definitely a must-have!
Yes!! I think there was previous justification to say using the coloured LEDs would lessen the brightness but this clearly is not the case, they look bright and really vibrant! Totally agree with you it definitely adds to overall look. Thanks for watching and dropping a comment 👊🏻

My first ever Vader has just arrived. He is something else. So glad I didn't pass on th 4:09 is one. This could possibly be my favourite figure (apart from AT-AT driver).
I just lit him up tonight. WOW!!!. I need another long USB-C to light the base at same time, but tried it out. Im blown away with this figure. Cant wait for 40th ROTJ Vader with the Sebastian headsculpt.

This looks dope! I have an opportunity for a rogue one version since I mostly want a clean Vader, so I keep flip flopping on which version I want to end up with.

@@TK421Collectibles as dope as it’d be to have more than one alas I only got space for the one. And even less space to display with all accessories! My display just focuses a lot on the figure/character itself with third party bases that don’t have that big a footprint. So I don’t mind a figure being barebones/without gimmicks. I suppose if I can find a good deal for the dx28 I’ll go for that!
Yeah I get you. I've been picking up a few non-Star Wars related Hot Toys and for those I just want them to be as minimal as it can be, just want the character represented and don't need huge bases or millions of accessories 👊🏻
Amazing figure, anyone getting this one will be set I think, love both the clean and battle damage iterations, really tremendous DX set, congratulations on getting him so early whoever your orders have been with Lately are doing a tremendous job at getting the figures to you early doors. Amazing the height difference with the ESB Vader😮. I have the ESB Vader and never noticed how janky his helmet looked or how short he is. I have the Rogue One and this one and the Kenobi Vader owns. Also po’d the ROTJ version can’t wait.
I’m almost tempted to offload the ESB version tbh as the Kenobi one and the ROTJ ones are/will be amazing! But the ESB version does still look good in isolation fortunately😀 Thanks for checking out the video 👊🏻

It would be the Ultimate Vader if it was all real leather with that said am picking it up cuz it looks amazing!! Am also picking up ROTJ if is as good as this one by height and quality.

I didn’t enjoy the Kenobi show, but I’m definitely getting this. The damaged mask is very similar to how it looked in the EU comic Jedi Purge, so I’ve liked this look even before Disney bought Lucasfilm. It’s also similar in Rebels after he fights Ahsoka. Great review as always.

Class review as always my friend, I had the EPV version back when it first released then eventually sold it as I had a feeling EPVI version was around the corner and I hated how easy the top of the helmet would pop off when posing. Got the Kenobi and EPVI version on preorder but after seeing the pics and your review I think I can justify 2 Kenobi Vaders. The clean version looks so damn good with those inquisitors!

This looks amazing but as ive mainly got the a new hope collection, Im now going for the original a new hope vader or better still, the tarkin double pack new hope vader 2.0
ANH Vader was priority one for me when I was building that line, so I understand where you’re coming from! Took me a while to get one. You may have more luck now as collectors move it on to make way for the new Vader! 👊🏻

The best ‘Kenobi’ Vader review I have so far seen - well done mate! You certainly got him well quick too!! I have to agree, I think it’s the ultimate Vader and definitely the best one, so far released. I’ve actually ordered 2 of these (and I very rarely do that), but as I’ve got no Vader’s in my collection, I’m going to display one damaged and one clean. I’m still debating whether to get the ROTJ version, but as I wouldn’t display that with the Sebastian Shaw headsculpt, I’m not sure I need to. It’s a beast of a figure, and really think people who miss out on this will regret it later. Not sure it will be a grail, as there must be gazillions of these figures produced (!) but you never know. It’s going to be in the Top 3 figures of the year for sure! The other thing that excites me about this figure, and no one seems to have picked up on it yet from other reviews - the fact that all the Inquisitors are shown on this Vader packaging. I reckon Hot Toys will be releasing the other 2 now, otherwise, why put them on there? Thanks for the review Chris - I’ve been looking forward to this review, and it didn’t disappoint. Cheers!! 👍🏼

It's a great idea getting two. I think the clean look is superb and obviously the battle damaged version is epic, so you will have the best of both worlds! 🙌🏻 Yes not sure I will display the RotJ version with the Sebastian Shaw sculpt. We only saw him like that in the film either staggering around with Luke, or lay down!

Cool review mate. Can’t imagine many Star Wars 6 scale collectors missing this guy. Those USB light features are certainly a welcomed addition. That head sculpt is just top class. I haven’t got this guy on hand but I hope the pleather they use are of better quality. Cheers mate
Thank you my friend!! Loving the USB feature, the lights seem noticeably brighter in this one, even the saber! Hope you manage to get this one in mate (although the pleather looks similar to other Vaders, possibly a bit tougher than ESB version though) 👍🏻

This Vader looks sick however I decided to go for the rotj version instead as I think that the definitive Vader figure must include a Sebastian shaw head (although I mostly won’t put it on the figure 😅😂)

The Shaw sculpt on the 1/4 scale is fantastic so I know they’re going to do an epic job with the 1/6 scale (likewise I will probably not be displaying it like that 😅 but it’s great to have the option isn’t it!) He is pricey, think they are releasing another version (or 3!). 2 without the hologram and one without the clean look etc. So price should definitely calm down when those different editions are released! Cheers for watching 👊🏻

I think you should re-buy the Rogue One version and do a proper comparison video to help us make a choice 😆 Seriously "dew it!" he says in a Emperor voice over...
To me the New Hope or Episode IV to us oldies is by far and away the best looking version, closely followed by the ESB.
Kenobi series needs a re-watch from my camp, I really loved the first two episodes and then it went a bit Pete Tong. Directorial and editing choices left me feeling "I could've done better!" "fan always do the best work" so they say!
Anyway interesting height discrepancy on the Empire version, I wonder why?
Nice looking Kenobi Vader, good amount of accessories, lovely lights and choice of buckets, could've included a non-cut cape for a clean version, but hey-ho... Sadly not for me.
It’s actually made me want the Rogue One Vader even more tbh as I’d like the full set of Vaders! And yeah I’d like to scrutinise them all!!

I've just bought the undamaged headsculpt off eBay to display on my TESB Darth Vader - not accurate, I know, but I bought that figure quite cheap as it was missing one of the tusks off the mask, and also, the DX28 mask looks so much cooler than the Empire one, IMO! I just hope it doesn't look too big on the Empire body considering the height difference you pointed out here! 😕🤞

Still, he's taller than the Stormtroopers I have flanking him and that's the main thing! Not sure about the Death Trooper though.. I'll be receiving one of those next week and have a feeling he'll be pretty much the same height as my Vader! I'll have to keep them separate, lol!
yes Death Troopers have a fair bit of height on them compared to regs 👊🏻

Hated the show (Except for the short dialogue between Vader and Kenobi in the last episode that was beautiful), but Vader is always Vader.
That section of dialogue was definitely the high point of the entire series wasn't it! I can imagine they wrote the whole series around the lead up to that particular scene! Glad you're picking the figure up, thanks for checking out the video 👊🏻

As much as I want one of these new Vaders the potential pleather flaking made me go with the Sideshow one for a really good price so I won’t be as devastated if flaking ever occurs 😩

I have the Rogue One Vader but still couldn't resist getting this figure. I got sold on the damaged head and the USB light up stuff. I never cared about light up stuff when it was battery powered because I know you can basically only use it to take pictures. You can't display it with the lights on but with USB it change things. I just wish they had more discreet ways to wire the stuff.
I'm still hoping to grab the Rogue One Vader at some point, still looks awesome. And yeah 100% agree the light up functions when its battery are almost pointless because the batteries just don't last. USB definitely the way to go. Yes the final wire for the figure to the actual power source is a pain, although with this Vader its all at the back of the figure and they did superb job of wiring in the battery boxes and chest plate. Wireless power is the way forward 😃 Sure I've seen it's possible but maybe just too expensive at the moment! Thanks for watching 👊🏻
@@TK421Collectibles There may be many used Rogue One Vader for sale soon with the new one coming out. Could be the last chance to get it at a reasonable price. I won't sell mine but I'm also curious to put it side by side with the new DX and see what changed.

do you do anything to preserve the suit on your older ones, or has it held up fine? usually pleather seems to last fine for me but he obviously has an exceptional amount of
To be honest I've not needed to do anything to the pleather suits in the past. The collection is in a room that doesn't get too hot or too cold or too humid, and the figures never see daylight! I think that combination give the figures the most longevity. I was sent a product called Glazer by a company called Gunprimer, which is an all purpose protector. I have used this on a few figures (there is a vid on the channel a few weeks back if you're interested). Thanks for checking out the vid 👊🏻
I chose the return of the jedi one but this looks amazing! Well impressed, yet another awesome video dude! When you do a video on the ROTJ version can you talk about which one you think is better between this and that one to you personally and why. I think that would be really interesting because they are made around the same time but it's two different eras, two actors and obviously different accessories and I would love to hear your thoughts.
I think you chose wisely all things considered. I'm now expecting RotJ Vader to be the ultimate 1/6 version of the character! Will definitely do a comparison between this and RotJ version, I'm also intrigued as to how the differences you mention will play out in figure format! I’m all about the original movies, but I got this one over the ROTJ one. It’s just too good. Also I find it more likely to get more original trilogy vaders in the future and less likely to get another like this

I'm in two minds whether or not to get this? But as I missed out on the ESB 40th Vader, the ROTJ 40th Vader will fill his place for me as they're virtually identical.
It's going to be really interesting to see what the RotJ Vader is like. I'm really hyped for that figure now too after seeing this version - I think it's going to be fantastic! 👊🏻

Yeah not sure what happened to Empire Vader. That battle with Luke must have really tired him out and he shrunk a bit? Jedi version looks amazing because it will have the electricity/skull effects in the helmet from when he gets zapped by the Emperor, and will also come with a Sebastian Shaw headsclupt (like the 1/4 scale version)., diorama stands and displays etc. Basically a lot going on with it and will likely be the ultimate Vader from Hot Toys!

Nice! Mine has been on pre-order since July 2022 w/ Sideshow Collectibles, wish they'd ship it already. How long is the USB cable? I have a Detolf cabinet & I'm wondering how high I can put him up (need to make sure the cable will reach the outlet).
Think Sideshow are getting their stock in imminently so shouldn't be much longer 👊🏻 You don't get a USB cable in the box, you get the little cables which connect to the little box/hub that you hook to his belt. From that box/hub you then connect your USB-C cable to your power (this is the white cable I have in the vid). Hope that makes sense! 👍🏻

Im struggling to see why the damaged chest plate lights up. Surely a flickering light mode would be more realistic. Easy to do, but probably cost us even more.
There are two “ON” positions for the hub, one of the ON positions lights up everything *except* the chest plate so it can appear totally broken when displaying the battle damaged look 👍🏻 Flickering effect would have been cool though you’re right 👊🏻

Hi Where did you get this as no one has it yet in uk unless eBay also not sure on pleather do u know whether the ROTJ Vader will be leather? HT are not catering for their customers in 2024 paying £400plus on dx figures leather should be a must.
Got this one from Toys Buying Agent. On the pleather issue, just read an interesting comment saying that real leather would make the figure very difficult to pose, which is something I'd never thought about tbh. Maybe this is why HT go for the pleather material instead. But if you keep the room humidity controlled and keep the figures out of UV light, the pleather should last pretty well from my experience. Great review! I think the little part that sticks out, on the battle damaged helmet, isn’t lined up properly. I’m not sure how describe it properly, but if you look at other reviews, that piece is more flush with the outer helmet.

I see what you mean now! I've reattached it properly. It's actually a glued in piece and I must have bent it back so it had become unseated. It's back flush now, thanks for pointing it out, well spotted! 👊🏻

They are releasing other editions of this figure though so you should be ok to grab one at some point. Never used it myself but Sideshow waitlist may be a good idea if you're US based? I know a few collectors that have backed out because they want the RotJ version instead. Good luck 👊🏻

Are you able to put the robes over the shoulder armor like ANH?
That was actually something I meant to mention, the difference of the robe placement kinda bugged me about the Kenobi series. But as for doing that on this figure, I'm really not sure because the wiring of the belt boxes must go through (or behind) the robes and the belt doesn't come apart either. I'm sure if you *really* wanted to you could do it but I would never risk it!
Hi! I just got my figure today! I know I did already comment on this, but I have a question. Do you leave the USB lights turned on all the time? Even if you're not in the room? Because I do want them to be on all the time, but I also don't want them to break. Thanks!
Hey mate! No I don’t actually keep them on continuously. From what I understand, a small LED can last up to 50000 hours. *But* if my maths is correct (which it probably isn’t 😅) that’s only about 6 years? Also their brightness fades over time apparently. So personally I want to keep everything in tip top condition and only put them on for special occasions! 😃

@@TK421Collectibles No worries, your videos are great. Don't get me wrong, it's great to finally have USB powered lights but they look like bare LEDs. I've put a small piece of paper underneath the chest plate as a defuser and they look far less garish and more like the promo images, although the lightsaber looks far better than I'd heard.
Grrrrr. Dang it, I didn't want to get this. REALLY hated the show, but as usual, your excellent look showing it at it's best is pushing me over. It does look great, from the superb box art to all of the details on it >s undeniably good. it was the comp shot towards the end that was the final shove:). That dreadful ESB one looks even more pathetic next to the new one. Good review (damn it) 😊

Woo congrats 🙌🏻 WHAT a figure as your first collectible!!! 👊🏻 Yes it fits great in the glass case. The ones I use are IKEA detolfs. I use these because they’re mostly glass so pretty much completely unobstructed view of the figures no matter what shelf they are on!! Sadly Ikea have stopped making them!! i was absolutely about to buy this but $300?????!!?!…….that is a unbelievable price i literally gasped so hard when i found out. Who would pay upwards of $300 for a darth vader action figure, i get the detail but thats absolutely ridiculous, and im not knowledgeable on action figures so idk the price range but the ones i see never go above 100 bucks each and thats already pushing it. Im just gonna stick to the black series obi wan kenobi show darth vader

I hate the rock base he comes with. I can't for the life of me get him to stand flat on his feet. The other base makes him too large to fit in my detolf.

Yes I know what you mean, it can be a big problem especially in a humid environment. Fortunately not had any issues with mine, but it's always at the back of my mind! 👊🏻
Congratulations on getting him bud. Hot toys did a fantastic job. But not for me as I hated the show. Am waiting on the other one with the Sebastian Shaw head sculpt. Even though I have the 1/4 scale the new 1/6 one looks fantastic. Sorry nothing better than the original version. But really happy for you and knowing your love for Star Wars this is a must for you.
