Useful tips for cattleyas, they are also one of my favorites. I grow them on the window sill over the radiator, to increase the humitidy I placed plant trays on top of the window sill where the excess water drains into and create a more humid enviroment around my orchids
hahah, nice to see we aren't the only ones who need 5 takes to get started!!! somehow you always seem to put out a video of exactly the ideas we were gonna make that week :( thanks for sharing, though!
@@elpilarorchids is ok! There's so much to talk about! Many videos and topics will overlap! All good everyone has a different environment and different perspectives are good, put out your videos even if they are the same I think everyone benefits from more opinions and perspectives ❤️
New subscriber here. And serial (unintentional) orchid killer, too. I'm trying to learn how to keep them alive. Right now, I just have two grocery store Phals. You had good tips, all consistent with other reliable growers I'm following. Could you possibly clarify what you mean by "fertilize later"? Your Cattleyas are gorgeous. One day... One day... Thanks so much.
@@wickedcabinboy thank you for subscribing :) fertilize later means fertilize when the blooms are done blooming, that's often when many orchids will resume their growth :)
@@NicoleDeanna - Thanks for your clarification. That's a little counterintuitive for me but it makes sense. Do you use liquid fertilizer or slow release type?
Thanks for the tips! I don’t have Cattleyas yet. I assume the same is close for Oncidiums if so hooray! 🎉 Enjoy the heat! It hasn’t been above 0 C since September at night with a whopping high of 9-12 C during the day.
It was 80 degrees two days in a row here too. I went out to Lowe and I bought a silver dragon and Polly alocasia lol their orchids didn’t look too good for the price they wanted lol 6:316:33
Hi, Nicolle. After watching your videos, I decides to use artificial lights! I received them today and I am so glad ❤ but I think I will need more lights ... it reachs only 8000 lux and I googled some phals species like stuartiana needs at least 12000 lux 😅
@@phalaenopsis.flowers yay! You got this! One thing to keep in mind is your can also keep the same lights and just move them closer to the tops of the leaves to increase intensity:) just a thought!
Sorry all for my mistake with editing in the beginning 😅
😊
Great video. The tips are greatly appreciated. Stay Blessed have a great day.
Great tips! If anyone has a smaller collection, I use an IKEA display case to house my orchids. Keeps humidity in great!
@@itsashley-lol love that! Those glass greenhouses are wonderful

Great tip! Yes, they need a little something extra when over a radiator :) Thank you for watching!
Thanks for your tips! Just wondering, how many grow light strips do you have for each shelf, for cattleyas vs. other orchids? Thanks!
@@higirl378 for cattleyas 3 strips, or only two for the shelves where I use the high output lights
Hi Nicole. Lot’s of tips, beautiful blooms. Thank you and take care. 💕🥰

I'm also a cattleya grower.Useful tips.
Thank you for very useful tips!
I like tips very helpful.
Great Tips! 😊
Thanks for the tips Nicole 😀
Beautiful orchid ❤❤❤❤
Great tips, Nicole!
Having blooming orchids near ripening fruit can also shorten the life of the blooms, also direct sunlight.
