At a job welding tanks that needed leak testing we had some lights like these. We would spray fluorescent dye on one side and see if any bled through to the other side. They were so powerful you were afraid to look at them.
I have the 400W version and using it absolutely requires proper eye protection. Not only from the UV but also from the visible purple light as well. What about the 125W one ? Did you wear eye protection ?
@@hpsnerd-ow6rc Yeah, I see. Thank's for the reply. Maybe my eyes are sensitive or it is because of its power, anyways I can't be in the same room as my 400 watt bulb without tinted eyewear as the purple light alone hurts even if the UV is filtered out. And I also get the itchy feeling on the skin if I stay close to it for too long. It's the long wave UV that is breaking down the skin and accelerating its aging as well as increasing the chance of a melanoma happening later on. No sunburn though.
@@psirvent8 I got the same itchy feeling of the skin when I put my finger close to it. That's why I decided to keep it only for the collection and never use it again.
@@hpsnerd-ow6rc You can use it if you're far enough from it and protect your skin by wearing long sleeves and gloves. It's no worse than being outside on a sunny day.
Yes, it as hot as a normal MV lamp. Also if I hold my hand at about 3 meters from it, I'll get an itchy feeling from the UV radiation. It puts out a lot of UV.
I know that one costs 50 euros, unfortunately I don't have LPS either it's cool but I only have HPS Philips Son, son-t and Sylvania shp-t basic plus 70w and a mercury Poland. Bro I don't know but I really like your vibeos, you also have an icredible camera with a very high resolution. UV mercury lamp in this shape first time I saw it, i only knew fluorescent UV lamps

Nice video and beautiful BlackLight Mercury Vapor lamp!
In the video the lamp looks to have a magenta color and everything lit by it looks blue. How does it look with your eyes?
It looks almost the same in real life. It's simillar to those blacklight fluorescent tubes
I have one 160w tungsram ultraviola its nice and works without a ballast
It got a regular base

I didn't wear eye protection, I just did not look at it. But I used it only for the video, I never used it after.

Does it get hot like those incandescent ones? My 75 watt Philips incandescent is already over 500 degrees Fahrenheit in just a few seconds.

This is the epic lamp! Lol
Yes, I love it !
Bro do a low pressure sodium video?
I wish but I don't have any LPS lamps or ballasts. And here are very expensive.

@@HIDSON-TPIA thank you very much! If it was only 50 euros... I found some Philips SOX lamps in my country at over 100 euros...
