  • I explain the definition of harmonics in standing waves and show their shapes and patterns for strings that have 2 fixed ends, 1 fixed & 1 open end, and 2 open ends. I show how to find wavelength, velocity, frequency, and the fundamental frequency.
    0:00 The velocity in a medium is constant
    1:16 What is a harmonic?
    3:06 2 fixed ends: reflection
    5:02 2 fixed ends: wavelength of harmonics
    6:49 2 fixed ends: frequency of harmonics
    9:40 Example problem: 2 fixed ends
    11:30 Fixed at 1 end: reflection
    13:45 Fixed at 1 end: wavelength, frequency, & harmonic #
    17:20 2 open ends: reflection
    17:59 2 open ends: wavelength, frequency, & harmonic #

    Oh my God you sounded so much like Chris Doner at 10:44 when you said 'Multiply that out'
    Great video though, really helped me consolidate the ideas

    Does every harmonic need to end at an antinode? If not how comes the first harmonic at 18:30 doesn't stop at the antinode?

    at 16:25 shouldn't the wavelength be equal to 2/3L?

    6:24 it should be 3/2 right?

    • @annasek7123
      @annasek7123 Год назад

      No, it should not. It is good. You can wright L=3/2 wavelength

    6:39 the relation should be n/2 L
