I'm so glad you pointed the templates out, also that you pointed out that a curse is a F#*%ing CURSE, and needs to have detriments. Power gaming is fun, but I find dealing with detrimental effects and personality traits WAY more interesting in a game. I think that the struggle against character limitations is the thing that makes a character meaningful to play.
I want to play a Simic Hybrid/Path of the Beast (PoB) Barbarian. Simic Hybrid gets a feather fall ability and at level 6 PoB gets that jump ability bonus(doesn't specify type of jump). So I want to grapple and then perform a Cyclone Piledriver like Zangief from Street Fighter. Just picture the PC as the offspring of a Kraken Priestess (based off Kraken Priest from VGM) where a Kraken had spoken through her while pregnant and some of it's power transferred to the baby. The PoB tail attack would be a tentacle, bite would be a squid beak, etc. Also picture the PC having 1 or 2 funnels (what a squid uses for jet propulsion) on their back for the feather fall ability, to roll play the extra movement, jumps, etc. Can also invision them looking like Dr. Octopus for the other PoB Spider Climb ability. WereKraken Barbarian!
The coolest way I have someone use the game mechanics to play a werewolf with using the master chymist prestige. Using this alchemal Prestige class your character can mutate into an alternate form with lower mental status and have a whole nother alignment. Most Alchemists have to drink a potion to assume the other form, but you only have to take damage to turn into a half-mad beast. In tandem with the other variants of Alchemists like Beast shifter and vivisectionist your other half is a formidable combatant at the disadvantage of being completely uncontrollable. The backstory what as a simple herbalist who contracted lycanthropy and now uses his potions trying to restrain the curse, with mixed results. Mechanically it is pretty effective and flavor-wise is about as fun.
in the monster manual it mentions that when you become a lycanthrope you gain a strength if it is lower (unless wererat it is dexterity) and a plus 1 to AC (unless wererat or tiger) when you transforn you keep your in game stats and become large sized
@@Rookzer0 it would be good if you play a class that doesn't wear armor or get a lot of hit points and depending on what class you are the it can be a bigger hindrance if you have max con and dex while being a werebear you would loose those high stats you put into getting some new stats would be amazing to add to the stats you already have but don't stack
depending on what lycanthrope you are and how much control you have it can affect your mental stats being a reduction up to -4 or -6 but as you learn to control it that reduces as you are able to have a better grip on the form and act more like an animal like if you are a werewolf you could easily be swayed to chase after a stick and have to use your turn to grab the stick
Definitely making a secondary variation of a dwarf character I called thorn His main variation as well as the NPC version of this character is stuck as a honey badger However the PC version of this character might be able to shift back and forth between being a wire badger
@@Rookzer0 I don't know yet I think the character might end up being more on the utility side since other than the fact that they're immortal as an NPC and mostly just meant to be some brains for the team as a PC that would obviously change Also something to know is that while I do want to play D&D I don't necessarily play proper DND was so a RPG me and my friends accidentally created based off of dnd it's a little complicated so I'll leave it there
On the DMing side can't say I've ever had an issue with the template. Mostly I just make the susceptible to things like the Morningstar Whip from Castlevania or have holy water equivalents for them. If you aren't running a game with magical attacks, a lot of features are going to be useless, especially for T3 and T4.
I like this imegey.... the scarry part is how he got the skin... werewolf turn back to normal when they die... so is there a naked werewolf walking around???
Doesn’t 5e say that you can spend an action to transform and you have to spend an action to go back to normal ? And gives personality traits to all different forms it takes
So then theoretically you could transform outside of combat and walk around like that until you chose to turn back obviously with withdraws because the personality traits described are a pretty negative and I’m sure some other setbacks. But like Goliath were shark with a great axe ?
Bugbear + Umberhulk + lycanthrop = ???
I found it it's a amazing video just subscribed

I completely agree
Play an owlbear that's been bitten by a werebear. Turns into a bear.
Not a were owlbear but an owlbear were bear.
Bloodhunter class actually has a were aractype called order of the lycan you could also use instead of beast barbarian or shifter race
some one talked to me about that today on stream. I didn't think this was in cannon. awesome find!
Yeeeeees I knoe its gonna be great I love you my man!

Thank you thank you

I truly love this idea. May I take it for my game??? Not the art, just the concept

were-anenome
unarmed strikes do poison damage
ability to grapple
can have clownfish residents
weird mouth
Nom nom dead
That is absolutely terrifying....
What about Angler Fish Lycanthropy
I don't see why not.
HAND
"Nanaue stay off the comms"
Werehuman? A animalesk person turned into a human?
Like a porcupine weredude
So if someone is wearing a werewolf furcoat, they are either lying or are badass enough to have skinned a werewolf alive

I want to play a sharkman or wereshark as a player lol
I missed it 😔
That's OK, I hope you enjoyed the video
Hands are difficult
Truth
Could you have a giant bite a diseased mimic become a werehouse?
Is the giant cursing the house or is the house cursing the giant?
Either way it's haunting.
@@OthEdden Could be a good campaign though
You did this because you thought of a goblin being a were- goblin shark didn’t you?
Maaaayybbeeee.... it's a goblin, weregoblinshark.
