I never expected to see such a mirthful, goofy, *delightful* story come out of the 40s. This story provides a tasteful sense of humor as well as some entertaining ideas and some commentary on the early comics industry that aged *particularly well.* The narration takes what was funny and well done on its own and elevates it to a true treat to listen to. Fantastic all around!
Never thought I’d hear something this funny on this channel. It takes the piss out of everything that was in vogue in ‘40s pulp fiction-jungle adventures, mad scientists, weird menaces...it’s the best in the series.
"I resign!" - I shouted as he booted me down the stairs. Just classic. Reminds me of Henry Kuttner's and Alfred Bester's short stories. Maybe you'll branch into comedic stories as well? A deadpan delivery helps certain types of humor a lot.
100k!! Up, up, and away! Thanks for being the light in the darkness that u are, Ian🎠. I’d be a way border bastard if not for horrorbabble. Amazing selection and delivery as always. 🛣🛤🪓💉🖤
I have tried - and failed - to track down a Bloch story called,if memory serves, The Black Lotus. I’m really hoping that one of these evenings it will appear here. Any chance?
I’m just at the start of this story, and I don’t want any spoilers, but it seems like we’re heading into a comedy rather than tale of terror. ok, yes, just got to the pepsi bottle. All is good.
7:03 “I shrugged my heart back out of my mouth and down to where it belonged.” - Yeah, if a gorilla started talking with me I’d have a similar reaction! This was a wonderfully comical surprise.
That was so clever. All the little jokes and everything. I feel like I want to cast the film. Bet he had a great time writing this. Faceless fiend.... comic book mad scientist. Funny story idea. Insane schemes. 😆🪞📝
Not pure horror. What begins as a humorous homage of sorts to the 1896 novel The Island of Doctor Moreau by H. G. Wells, becomes a comic commentary on the pulp fiction and comic culture of the time in which it was written. "Gutch, that's a new one, eh doc?" Spoing! Boing! In short: "The mastermind of all the comic books". A lot of puns, btw.
Some "strong virile man to come along and woo me!" That's hilarious... Wait till you see 2020 dearie... You'll be amused to say the least.😂😂this was grand Ian!

Bloch's hilarious take on The Island of Doctor Moreau. Lots of chuckles!
I like this a lot more than that!
Never thought I’d hear something this funny on this channel.

"I have the heart of a small boy. I keep it in a jar on my desk." -Robert Bloch
@Gary Lorette He said that in an interview. Much later the inferior writer Stephen King cribbed it.
I came for a scary story but didn't leave disappointed
He was devoting most of his time to becoming an octogenarian, has been for the past 80 years. :D What a fun tale this turned out to be.
This gave me some good chuckles. I'm finding that I quite enjoy Bloch's sense of humor.
‘Before they hired me I was just another broken down Nobel Prize winner...’
This is so much fun. This author is one of my favorites, and Ian's delivery is perfect!
You have quite a knack for humor, Ian. Your timing and delivery are top shelf.
This is "laughing out loud" (which I did several times) hilarious. Very enjoyable.
"I resign!" - I shouted as he booted me down the stairs.
Just classic. Reminds me of Henry Kuttner's and Alfred Bester's short stories. Maybe you'll branch into comedic stories as well? A deadpan delivery helps certain types of humor a lot.
Reminds me of George on Seinfeld.
The gorilla politely taking his luggage was a great image.
In perfect world, this would’ve made into a movie directed by Mel Brooks
EXACTLY what I was thinking!
Robert Bloch was basically writing "The Venture Bros." before it was a thing.
"2-Dollar Rogers" killed me lol
The Island of Dr Moreau on cocaine....😂🤣
She wore a leopard skin ... which was very pretty in spots.
Thanks for the weird tales again 👍
LOVE IT!! Happy Thanksgiving to you all.
How!?
How have you found even a handful of Bloch stories that I haven't lol
Loving these!!
Hilarious and disturbing. Great story, and another AWESOME reading.
Haha that was great. Weird tale indeed.
loved this, was not expecting such fun, delivered as ever with a fantastic reading, thank you for brightening up another dreary day at work
Great story and narration!
This one made me chuckle.
Thanks!
Nothing at all what I expected but very good as always, thank you
100k!! Up, up, and away! Thanks for being the light in the darkness that u are, Ian🎠. I’d be a way border bastard if not for horrorbabble. Amazing selection and delivery as always. 🛣🛤🪓💉🖤

Аmazing and beautiful story.
Thank you very much dear Ian!
Such a clever and funny story, thanks for bringing it to light.
I love it when dingbats dodder around the confines of palatial estates
Fantastic story! I enjoyed it immensely!
Reminds me somewhat of books in the Cineverse series such as Slaves of The Volcano God.
god i have not read them in years, wonder if i still have the books....
6 minutes in and I'm rolling around, holding my belly. _Screaming rainbow_ - now that's an image

It's out there, Marc. First published in 'Unusual Stories' back in 1935. Unfortunately, it isn't in the public domain.
That was absolutely delightful 👍
Wow, this has got more bad puns than one of Piers Anthony's Xanth novels! Loved it!!
Congratulations on reaching 100k subscribers.
Great story A regular lafff riot As a comic book fan I enjoyed it immensely Thank you especially for this one
Your deadpan delivery is perfect.
Bloch can be as funny as he can be gratuitous.
Have you found The Horror Out of Lovecraft? You'd do it justice!
I’m just at the start of this story, and I don’t want any spoilers, but it seems like we’re heading into a comedy rather than tale of terror.
ok, yes, just got to the pepsi bottle. All is good.
This one was weird... I really liked it!!
7:03 “I shrugged my heart back out of my mouth and down to where it belonged.” - Yeah, if a gorilla started talking with me I’d have a similar reaction! This was a wonderfully comical surprise.
Very clever and enjoyable.
excellent as always

Brilliantly nutty 👍🏻
Many thanks !
Who would've thought that the author of "Psycho" was such a "punny" guy!
The mention of a Burma shave sign .....Am I the last of the people who knows what they were...?? Old stories remind me that I'm old....oh hell...
I love the reference to the White Princess.
They don't call it a Weird Tale for nothing! ;)
what a peculiar lil story
A "marvel"ous story! Did not know Bloch did humor like this.
23 45 very interesting dialogue...the idea about comics might be referred to ghost stories as well ...from my point of view.
Well I wasn't expecting humor but I'm not complaining. lol
Kind of reminds me of Rocky Horror.
This was... Unexpected. 😂
This sory is suittailored for Terry Gilliam to make a movie out of.

Well this was a bit of a departure, yet somehow not.
she wore a leopard skin bra and shorts. “it was very pretty - in spots.” 😋🐯🌷🌱

I really wish you had read this slower.
