I’ve got mine last month and can say that you guys just nailed it with this review. Everything mentioned including the Pros and Cons are true and relevant. The entertainment system is not the best and sometimes hard to navigate but driving is a pleasure. This is my second GLC 43 AMG and I was really considering an option to go with the 63 model but could not convince myself to spend another 30K for a daily commute and weekend escape vehicle.
You guys rock and knock it out every time great job as for the review it’s not bad I love the interior the infotainment definitely needs work but the seats are like a lounger lol and love the crackle and pops !!! I was hoping you guys would have gotten to a million for Canada day but still awesome

I know this video is a year old but another awesome review fellas! I just placed an order for a GLC43 to replace our 2021 SQ5. I also have a 2020 X3 M40i, purchased based on your review(no regeRts). Also previously had a 2016 Macan S. Having had almost all of the German "Fast SUV's" I gotta say the M40i and GLC43 are probably the best "all-arounders" in this class. *EDIT*: I'd also like to add that when we got our M40i and SQ5, the GLC43 was excluded because I hated the previous AMG grill, the weird star/dot thing. The new GLC43 with the Panamericana grill made all the difference!
That parametric grill is where it’s at. Love the AMG43, such a fantastic car, having driven both, what surprised me the most was how different the AMG43 steering felt. I loved it. It feels so fantastic. Love the M40i as well. For some reason the AMG43 felt faster just driving around. No idea why as they are so close in 0 to 60. But I’d happily own either vehicle. You still enjoying it? A bet you are happy you got that before the redesign when they make the AMG43 a 4 banger with an electric motor. Shoot me now. Also the GLC43 has the best sounding exhaust of any compact SUV today..everyone else’s got so quiet.
@@TheLumberJacked I don't think the GLC43 is necessary faster because on paper, it isn't. But the GLC is more wagon-like with a slightly lower center of gravity and stiffer suspension than the M40i. So you can definitely feel that. Yes, still enjoying the GLC43. But in February I realized that this might be my last chance to buy a new ICE powered M-Car so I placed an order for a 2023 X3M and picked it up 2 months ago. Replaced the M40i so enjoying the X3M as well. 😄
13:10 you asked why the 43 doesn't have a launch control: Most Mercedes-Benz 63 models use the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 9G tansmission. This uses a clutch instead of a torque converter. The 43 and 53 models allways use the AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9G transmission with a torque converter. For real launch control you have to use a transmission wich a clutch.
TheStraightPipes or maybe the power isn’t that high to create wheel spin or lose traction. So there is no point to have launch control. Normal launch with break torque would have similar effect
Finally, someone not claiming first. But on a serious note I really like the new front end styling on the new models with the AMG GT 4 Door grille, better than BMW design choices.
Yes it doesnt look bad, but giving the entry level amg cars the same grille and almost same overall front as the 63AMGs takes away of how special the 63s are.
@@timonxDlol Yea they definitely should make a different grill for each AMG trim or at least a for the 63/63S, the non-AMG C-class had 3 different grilles available in the same year at one point so they are open to the idea already.
The trackpad's fine when you get used to it. I really like that you have a choice of using the trackpad, touchscreen, thumb controls or voice for pretty much everything. Plus, there's lots of real buttons that let you go directly to the commonly used screens. I don't see any other system out there that matches that.
I really wish you guys talked more about the functionality of adaptive headlights and how reliable they are at dipping beams. Really key feature of a car for me. A bit more spec info on stereos would be awesome too. Great video. Great channel.
You know what… You make the payments It’s a really nice, comfortable SUV with just enough POP Fun toy for the money and my wife can enjoy it without feeling intimidated We love it !!!
Have one of these. Drove this, Audi SQ5, BMW X3 40i. Merc drives the best, has the best interior, looks the best on the exterior AND at 1-2 year used is second cheapest (BMW loses its value bad). The Macan is better but it’s 25% more expensive. I am up in a ski town in the Rockies, only have room for one car and this thing does it all. Airport run, snowy drive to Denver, Home Depot run, cane it in sport+ on empty mountain roads in the summer, golf trip with friends, does it all.
Hey, that’s great to hear You are loving it. How is the AWD system on this? Is it as good as they say? Seems to me a rear biased AWD system is THE way to go for winter driving even if you aren’t hooning it. Let me know and thanks for posting this, it’s helping us with our decision to buy a lightly used one.
To be fair, it DOES come with ventilated seats if you pay for them. I have them in mine. And as far as the infotainment, I like it a lot, except for the inability to switch between preset stations easily (as you pointed out). I'm hoping Mercedes fixes that with an over-the-air update. Great review guys, I'm also loving my 43!
I'm so sorry you guys don't like the MBUX infotainment. I'm the opposite of you in that I think the MBUX with the new menu layouts and trackpad is SOOOO intuitive and easy to use, and BMW's iDrive 7 is actually very complex and confusing. I wish I could be there with you guys and just at least give a different perspective on certain things! Seriously, to me it is far and away the BEST infotainment out there.
Picked up a ‘20 GLC43 a month ago and I love it. I get where you’re going with the review, but you can’t draw comparisons from the GLC63 - that’s apples to pineapples. Fair review, but you kind of dogged the 43 with all of the 63 references imo. Either way, I love this thing
I thought so too. Why compare it to a car thats $20000-$25000 more. The GLC 43 is perfect in it own right. Such a great car - we get it... its not a 63. You know why? Because its not.
I went from a GLE 350 w/ Night package to a GLC43 AMG and although I miss my GLE I really enjoy the GLC. I wish I could’ve found a GLC63 but they’re so hard to come by
Sure, the Macan S handles way better, but is it just me or does the Macan also feels absolutely muted in comparison to the GLC43, or even the X3 M340i? Like the powertrain just feels kinda slow in comparison, and the sounds it makes aren't even close... And the interior is quite behind the GLC's too, despite both being due for a redesign. Even as the biggest Porsche fanboy, I've always wondered why reviewers seem to prefer the Macan over everything else in the segment. Could someone elaborate?
Great review as always! We had a GLC 43 off-road a few weeks ago and found it to be less capable than expected. Of course with it being and AMG the off-road package wasn't available.
I think they remove the controller wheel because the main reason for a controller wheel was for driver to have better access to the center screen. Now that they have the blackberry trackpad on the steering wheel, you don’t really need it. The passenger side wouldn’t require to have as much attention on the road so the touch screen and middle trackpad are good enough. The middle trackpad does give a little more gestures and functions like writing or moving the map so it’s actually more useful than just wheel. Also a lot of people complained about how Mercedes had both and it’s hard to access the wheel, so they decide to just remove it.
Noting you mentioned launch control so many times, I question why anyone would need launch control if they're buying this as a daily driver? How many people are taking this to the track..close to zero?
If I had the money, I would totally trick my girlfriend into getting this or an X3M. “Here honey, I got you that small SUV you liked” Meanwhile, I’d be tearing it up on the weekends
14:10 this is amg. maybe not a TRUE amg but still an amg,and its real. imagine mercedes just called it glc 450. you think the exhaust sound gonna sound the same? look at mercedes c43 w202 amg? is that a real amg? not sure if it hand build or not but at least amg tune and still an amg. for me, 35,43,53 is TUNE AMG, 45,63,65* TRUE AMG. and they all real amg.
I agree. If only the engine made the AMG then they would all be fast but terrible handling cars. AMG is in the details and the changes they make to all sorts of stuff on the car is what makes it *chefs kiss*.
@@davidlegkodukh6969 1. It's not my decision what car a customer buys. 2. X3M is a totally different class of car. M40i goes in the right direction. 3. If you like Mercedes, you won't buy a BMW 4. When you're happy with 390hp, good. Otherwise there are 63 and 63S, too
Great review, but you guys really didn't point out that the steering wheel has that Blackberry style scroll pad on it as an alternative way to navigate through the infotainment screen as well. I tried it out and works better than the big touchpad below. You guys are awesome!
Sometimes I wish you'd guys would do side by side comparisons like, X3M (non competition) vs GLC AMG 43 vs SQ5. BUT, it's nice 2 focus on 1 vehicle per episode
2020 C43 sedan owner here (somewhat due to your 2019 C43 wagon review last winter). Launch control is not officially official, but the behavior of the car from a basic launch to a power brake launch is completely different. Regular launch is more eventful with the pops/bangs, but those acoustic effects slow the car down. When you brake boost, you don't get any of the dramatic crackles, instead you get a super fast upshifts and way quicker acceleration. (over half a second difference based on my track pace app data).
Hey, so when you do the unofficial launch control on this vehicle. Does it act like a proper launch control? Or is it just brutally hard on the trans because it’s not a real unofficial official launch control? That’s as a confusing question, but I guess I want to know if it really does work good and if I’m just killing my trans.
It sounds meaty from the interior but from the exterior, it sounds like a bicycle with noise makers. Just doesn't sound AMG from the outside. I'm just hoping it sounds better in real life.
On our GLC 63s we like the MBUX better than the old command , the track pace seems to work better when the Mercedes Me connect is active and fully updated. Great review overall you guys are my favorite review channel been subbed from almost the very beginning
The macan is also very nice, but I think they are both really good. But I dislike the GLB it just doesnt look nice and has the a class interior the GLC is a whole lot better on the inside. But you also see that in the price difference.
I love the cooled seats in my glc43 amg (2018). They work great 👍 Seats and a ride overall very comfortable for daily and cross country. stage 2 ecu tune makes it so much more fun and way quicker at near 500bhp/500tq. Low 4sec 0-60 Plus removed governor.. the infotainment and nav system is not my favorite.. but burmaster is sounds sweet.. I like the rims on the 2018 slightly more.. they just look better than the new ones, at least to me. The previous Diamond grills are so much better looking than almost anything else out there. However the new grill is mean, also like the new steering wheel in the 2020.. the new lights design I don’t care for much. Overall a very fast and great little suv Debating to get a new one or switch to a X3m when the lease is up
@@matthewgateoperators2406 still have the glc43. And I still love it. For the summers I picked up a c43 cabriolet. unfortunately it is not optioned the way I wanted but it is still the v6 and overall a great ride. I’m glad I stayed with the more comfortable AMG’s.
You are so right, the trackpad is so bad that you always have to use voice control or the touchscreen. The wheel from the old generation was a lot better and easier to use...
They're not right. Have you actually used this? This works very differently. Both Carwow and Doug Demuro says its the best system in the industry. If you use it yourself, you'll see how easy it is to use. Most people find this easier but these guys are too used to the rotary wheel. They did not mess up. They're just moving forward. It isn't touch pad only. It also has touch screen plus the one on the steering wheel. Lexus system is actual trash because there's no haptic feedback and the interface design is poor meaning it doesn't work well with a touch pad. This is different.
@@SDav21 My dad had the pre facelift and now has the facelift and I easily drove a couple thousand km with the old one and a couple hundred with the new one. You never hit the button you want with the trackpad and the controls on the steering wheel don't work that good aswell. Sometimes they respond and sometimes they don't, you'll never know :/
@@felix2402 The system itself is much more intuitive. It take multiple steps to enter a navigation destination in the old and multiple scrolls and clicks of the rotary control. You can do the same on the new system in seconds. These guys are talking like the system itself is unintuitive when they just don't like the method of input. I want to see them do a race as to how long it takes to input a station number on the new vs old. Same for a navigation destination. Same for any particular vehicle setting. This is where the new system is better. It's why they changed it.
Well in China,if you want a 6 cylinder small to mid size Mercedes car, like the C class,E class and of course the GLC,these AMG 43 cars are the only option you have cause everything else just have 4 cylinders or even 3,so although these are not the real AMG so to speak, their position in Chinese market is very clear and strong.
I have a 2017 AMG 43 GLC and had to replace my rear brakes at only 18,000 miles with normal use only. Has MB changed the rear brakes after the 2017 year? Other than brakes the car has been great!

Disagree. MBUX is easily the best infotainment in the car industry even without the scroll wheel. :)
MBUX Is better than the rest. Even Doug Demuro recommends that infotainment system the most.

I agree. If only the engine made the AMG then they would all be fast but terrible handling cars. AMG is in the details and the changes they make to all sorts of stuff on the car is what makes it *chefs kiss*.
Had one in the shop last week. Not really an AMG. If they'd called it GLC400 or 450 or something, it would have been the better decision
They're already breaking down??
@@wmahmoo No, getting them ready for delivery
@@LMO169 But they are so slow why not get an X3M instead?
@@davidlegkodukh6969 1. It's not my decision what car a customer buys.
2. X3M is a totally different class of car. M40i goes in the right direction.
3. If you like Mercedes, you won't buy a BMW
4. When you're happy with 390hp, good. Otherwise there are 63 and 63S, too
Chevy Emblem on each side of the steering wheel. 😂 15:12
Not funny, Chevy ass
Great review, but you guys really didn't point out that the steering wheel has that Blackberry style scroll pad on it as an alternative way to navigate through the infotainment screen as well. I tried it out and works better than the big touchpad below. You guys are awesome!
Sometimes I wish you'd guys would do side by side comparisons like, X3M (non competition) vs GLC AMG 43 vs SQ5. BUT, it's nice 2 focus on 1 vehicle per episode
We do that sometimes
The Launch control is only on AMG’s with clutches ,the 43 has a torque converter as its a 9G gearbox.
Can you guys please do a review on a 2008 viper acr
WIll you guys make a video about Audi SQ5? Or like the comparison with GLC43, SQ5 and X3/4M40i? Look forward to seeing that.
“It’s 2020 real” -Yuri on exhaust
Now Mercedes just needs to bring back a refreshed GLA 45...
It’s out already if I’m not mistaken
@@gregbach5 I think they stopped offering it in North America after 2018 or 2019. And we can't even get an A35 Hatch in the US.
It sounds meaty from the interior but from the exterior, it sounds like a bicycle with noise makers. Just doesn't sound AMG from the outside. I'm just hoping it sounds better in real life.
Honestly just a really good SUV, from both a practical and sporty standpoint!
only downside is the shit build quality, they rattle hard
When would a "regular consumer" ever use launch control? At a traffic light??
When would a "regular consumer" buy an AMG car?
Ignacio Romero when they have the money
All the time. It's fun. Most people are okay spending that much more money for an AMG or S or M perf model because they want to have fun.
LOL - True
Nice review! comfort wise, is it x3 m40i or Glc amg 43? I like fast SUV but I am getting old, need a fast but comfortable daily driver.
On our GLC 63s we like the MBUX better than the old command , the track pace seems to work better when the Mercedes Me connect is active and fully updated. Great review overall you guys are my favorite review channel been subbed from almost the very beginning
I’m still going sq5 because I love the interior I’m the Audi
I have the SQ5 from 2016 and I love it's interior. I was shopping between that and the GLA45, the merc was disappointing compared to the SQ5.
Big Woofer I currently have an S5 Sportback almost purely because the colour selection on the SQ5 is bad. My S5 is in the Misano Red Pearl
@@CloakAndDaggerPC I have the moonlight blue metallic colour. It's dark blue and I love it. Also Changed my grill to the RS one 😁. Love this car
Big Woofer opposite for me. I test drove the new SQ5 today and bought the amg Glc 43 after driving it.
When you getting that GLB! Prefer the boxy, “mini G wagon” style, to the GLC hahaha. Also if I’m spending 60K on a quick SUV I’d still get a Macan S.
The Macan S would be a way more fun to drive than this for sure.
The macan is also very nice, but I think they are both really good. But I dislike the GLB it just doesnt look nice and has the a class interior the GLC is a whole lot better on the inside. But you also see that in the price difference.
I’d get a GLC over an macan
@@yes8032 you are not alone m8
Macan S will be way more then 60k because Porsche have so many options.
Overall a very fast and great little suv
Debating to get a new one or switch to a X3m when the lease is up
What did you end up going with? And how do you like it I'm considering getting one of these
@@matthewgateoperators2406 still have the glc43. And I still love it. For the summers I picked up a c43 cabriolet. unfortunately it is not optioned the way I wanted but it is still the v6 and overall a great ride. I’m glad I stayed with the more comfortable AMG’s.
@@JamesBon10 yes we just had a baby so I have to lean on the side of comfort thank you for the feedback
@@matthewgateoperators2406 sure thing. good luck with the baby 😀
Sometimes they respond and sometimes they don't, you'll never know :/
@@SDav21 Although I have to say that the voice controls work really well most of the time.
Which car the cameraman was using during launch control ? Glc 63
Getting pretty fancy on your way to a million. Driving around in Benzes and getting medium cups now instead of small ones.
wait, did you just foget to do the horsepower and torque?
Mercedes: *puts AMG badge on as many cars as possible*
Ok tard
Whooohoooo!!! Been waiting for this!! 😍😍😎
3rd option. Missed the trackpad on the steering wheel which works well too!
x3 for sure
Well in China,if you want a 6 cylinder small to mid size Mercedes car, like the C class,E class and of course the GLC,these AMG 43 cars are the only option you have cause everything else just have 4 cylinders or even 3,so although these are not the real AMG so to speak, their position in Chinese market is very clear and strong.
How do you like this compared to macan gts (2020)
I have a 2017 AMG 43 GLC and had to replace my rear brakes at only 18,000 miles with normal use only. Has MB changed the rear brakes after the 2017 year? Other than brakes the car has been great!
The new Mercedes design language looks so bad on their sedans but looks good on their SUVs
10:44. A mid-size SUV does 10 boxes but the Honda Civic Type-R did 11 ?
You guys should tell us the 0-100 in all the reviews. That’d be much appreciated
Straight pipes,
I have a question for you guys
What’s the better vehicle the Glc 43 or Stelvio QV ? In your opinion
Thanks
What's up with Mercedes using drilled rotors on the front and then cheap out the rear ones. Why not drill all around?
cay you guys drive the new caynnen gts 2021 models
Why you guys can do the review in such a comfortable way? Keep up with the good work! 😁
2018 Ford Expedition Platinum Pls? 😁
You don't want an Expedition. They get so many issues from 2018-2020
White Fox the new Yukon looks really promising though.
mine 2021 has launch control, this one should no?
Hey, so how does launch control work on yours? What are the steps to engage it?
As much as I hate the 'SUV Craze' I do love that we live in a time where the 'mid-level' trim of an SUV has almost 400Hp! Great job guys!
