That thing is a beast. Without knowing what it would take, you could put a little money in that thing to get it street-legal and turn a good profit. Short wheel base granny gear single cab is a desirable ride.
I'm normally not a patina guy, but the patina on this one does look really cool. I would go through the engine, shine up the chrome, and maybe do the interior at some point, but I would leave it alone beyond that.
I have a farmall 560 gas that I use for brush hogging. It burns about a quart of oil a day, until I put a can of engine restorer in it. That will reduce the oil consumption to about a quart a week for that season. I have to put one in every spring. I hunted for a truck just like that for years, but couldn't find one I could afford. Great find there, and thanks for sharing.
That is a testament to how good Fords are. It's sat still for 30 years and with minimal work, did a lot better than the others that have been work on and driven recently. It not only kept up, it surpassed the Chevy and Toyota.
I had a 83 Hilux dualcab 4WD with a 253ci Holden V8. It was just about unstoppable in the mud and a ton of fun. It had twin thermo fans (no splashing the distributor) and 33x12.5x15 Maxxis Mudders.
I miss my 82 f150 I had. Was my mud truck 300 six t-18 4 speed, 4.11 gears with lockers, 3 inch lift and 35s. Thing was a beast never got it stuck. The thing that sucked about it was it got 160 miles to a tank of gas.
i got a 89 f150 302 t10 4 speed 4:10 gears with front lockers and 31s no lift plan on doing a 6in lift 35s and a rear locker among many other things i got dual tanks and get well over that on just one tank you mustve got like 8mpg
@@TylerDuysen she loved to drink that's for sure. I never figured out the fuel mileage. I had a 87 f150 5.0 c6 auto 4x4 but was stock. Was my daily driver I got 12 with that. I did daily my 82 for awhile killed me in gas driving 20 miles one way to work.
@@ericouellette5293 i get 18-20 in mine but mine has 36k miles and was rebuilt 13k ago with modern parts and bored .030 over it was a barn find had been sitting 23 years
It would be cool to see that truck get lifted and have some more classic firefighter gear put on it, gumball light on the roof, some big air horns there too, flashing lights. Have to throw the classic chrome roll bar in the bed and a spare mount there too
maaaan i would love to take this off your hands once you ready to let it go. watching these last two videos has given me this wholesome feeling watching you and your pops work together to make it run. great great vid. thumbs up!!
Nice video! You should definitely keep finding these gems and bringing them back to life! A couple of detailed videos on getting them road worthy and of selling them off to new homes/owners would be your bread 🍞 and butter 🧈 !
Just got my dads Duster fired up for the first time since 1989 old 318 fired right up like it was shut off yesterday, now the fun begins of rebuilding it going with a 360 and a 4 speed
New subscriber checking in... Not sure why YT never considered I might like your channel before now, but here I am, fashionably late to the party as always...
We had an extended cab of that same body style growing up, it had the 302. I would like this truck if it came up for sale near me. That bedside type looks real nice.
We took the thermostat out and replaced the housing in the last video. Also did a flush and thankfully everything seems good! Honestly I’ve never had a clutch issue in the vehicles we’ve got going locally here, I’ve had to drag them around when stuck but once free they seem to do good. Our ‘66 F350 was frozen but we freed it up and it’s given us 2 years of problem free use!
I am sooooooo jealous that you guys in the upcountry actually have hills and trails for off roaring. All we have in the low country is mud, and I hate mudding.
Great to see you spent 1 hour converting it to RC for the opening section of the video 😃😃.great video . Get some gripy tyres in it and clean the tank out lights and you got a weekend toy 🙂
Amazing video as always, that Toyota Hilux RN 40 is a blast.I have a neighbor with a yellow petrol engined one,the last time i checked he was willing to let it go unfortunately 4wd isn't working and you have to hold on the gear lever for gear no.4
Have to admit, the ol girl did surprisingly good. My original offer still stands with only one minor adjustment. The tree episode results causes concern. New deal, 500$, I still keep my heeler, but you would need to meet me in the West side of either Chattanooga or Atlanta, lol Absolutely loved the intro, and thanks
I use to own a 95 f 150 with in line 6 and it had a blown head gasket and a cracked water jacket. I use a product called Z MAX not sure if it's available in the states but I live in newfoundland Canada. This product has gotten me out of some sticky situations. 3 times i seized the engine up and 3 times Z MAX was to the rescue. If you can find this product, give it a try. It can be used for fuel and engine two different beaker shape bottles. No need for oil change or reduction in the amount of oil. It bonds with the metal. Great product. Enjoy your videos very much . Keep them coming.
I have a 78 lariit started up after several Years smoked like a fright train in the spring I am going to rebuild the motor the body is a one shape beautyfull. Truck it’s a 4by 4 with a 400 big block Hope to have it restored by Sumer
We need to see you bring this old truck all the way back to life. That’s an AWESOME truck!!
That thing is a beast. Without knowing what it would take, you could put a little money in that thing to get it street-legal and turn a good profit. Short wheel base granny gear single cab is a desirable ride.
I drive one right now. 87 single cab SWB granny gear 4 speed 5.0 4x4. Thing is unstoppable.
It’s worth what he paid for it that’s it
YEP!!! My Chevy K10 came like this in 88 but with 38 Ground Hawgs... They WILL get going when a V8 is bolted in!!!
I had an 82. It always smelled like moldy crayons. That’s a solid little truck from what I’ve seen so far.
LoL...I'm doing my damnedest to imagine what moldy crayons would smell like...maybe I shouldn't want to know.
Vw jettas smell the same way
@@Captain_Yodelstein My guess is stale plastic lol.
They came from the factory smelling like that😂

After the pressure wash, it looked just like “factry ”. Lol. (VGG reference for those that don’t watch him also)
I love the look of old stepside trucks 🤌🤌
This is such a pretty truck. I just like the old style shapes. Pity the interior is so gone.
I love that Hi-Lux. I am building a 1999 ford ranger with a solid axle swap underneath and hope it turns out very similar.
My first car was a 84 F150. 302, grany 4 speed 4x4. Wish I still had it.
Those trucks run forever.
Got to love those old fords. If you ever want to sell it keep me in mind. What a amazing truck.
Having owned several 300s, a 302 and 351 powered FISO and one 460 F250. I do love me a 300 truck. A lot.
Definitely love those trucks reliable simple and real trucks!!!!!!
I bought one of these flair side 4x4s new in 1981. $8575.00 300 6 4sp Wish I had it back !
Great truck and video😀😀
Very cool to see it run and drive after 29 years sitting. Keep up the good work.
Enjoy what you drive and fix what you can yourself. Awesome!
Nice to see friends (TOYOTA, CHEVROLET, & FORD) get together for a "Romp"!
I love that brush bar! I wish they'd still made ones like it!
That is a testament to how good Fords are. It's sat still for 30 years and with minimal work, did a lot better than the others that have been work on and driven recently. It not only kept up, it surpassed the Chevy and Toyota.
This one must have been a sweet truck back in the day, still looks good.
That Diesel Hilux is amazing
Love the F-150 and that you were able to get her going again but..... that Yota is a beast!
I have been looking for THAT exact truck for years!! My grandpa had a black one F100 and I want one to restore myself!!! Good find!!
Love that truck, it has so much character and deserves to be restored, its worrh it for sure. Great and fun video, thanks a lot!!

Old Ford trucks that are still solid are bringing in big bucks here in Michigan.
A neighbor of mine just sold 65_non running short wheel base step side, all tired rotted and flat

@@donniebrown2896 I know. These guys down south have no idea how good they have it.
That Toyota sounds good as hell.

Yeah OM617 will take you anywhere.
Ancient? Your dad looks like he could be your brother lol. Love this truck!
Love the 1980 bull nose trucks. Great job getting this old best running. The only question I have is why did the camera guy giggle so much??
Yeah kind of an annoying for sure.
that ford and k5 is $20,000 in chicago all day very popular. wish i can find one for 200 bucks........ or even $360.00
Yeah I live in the Chicagoland area as well. But even if I did find something I have nowhere to park the thing as I already have 2 cars.
Maybe a series on painting the truck using Rustoleum with a clear coat.
Excellent work and thanks for the awesome content stay safe and take care
Thanks so much!

That looks like a blast hadn’t did trail riding in fifteen years I miss it i wanna move back to the country.
Love it! I had a 83 step side 4x4 years ago. 302-C6. Kinda ugly. Ran great!
Love to see if Engine Restore would help some with the blow by. The thing is already street legal in Nebraska if you got a title...
Great video! That old 300 is a trooper to still run so smooth! K5 is a peach! That Toyota sounds wicked! 😜
One of your best vids, thanks!

Love it, my first 4x4 was an ‘83 bronco with inline 6 and 3 speed with granny gear. She was a beast! Miss it, but love my 79 k15 😎

Nice truck. I’m jealous. In Wisconsin that’s a$1,500 truck before you got it running. Damn the Midwest rust problems!
