My great-grandfather John McRae immigrated from Scotland approx 1860. WE (McRae clan) have been the keepers of the Eilean Donan castle since the 1500"s.. do you guys need any help? 😂❤
This specific video was 2 days. We were in Scotland for 8 nights Edinburgh - 2 nights Loch Ness - 1 night Isle of Skye - 1 night Islay - 2 nights (1 night near the ferry one night near Islay) Glasgow - 2 nights
The little green hills you were on in Skye are called "Drumlins". They are material deposits left from the last Ice age. The whole place looks amazing!
This was exactly the video I was looking for!:-) I’m dragging my little family of four there in June. Will be flying into Inverness, arriving early in the morning and driving down to Oban to take the ferry to the little outer Hebrides islands including Iona and Stafa. Then driving up to Skye and actually planning to backpack the Skye trail. Taking a bus from Portree and getting dropped off at the northern end, hiking and camping along the Trotternish Ridge. I think my husband and I will both be a little nervous about the driving. We’re pretty happy that for four days will just be hiking it. The trail is 80 miles and we’re only doing 40 back to Portree, then driving up to the northern tip of the mainland to take a ferry to Orkney And backpack around up there some. It will be a great way to save money, but we are staying in a couple of hostels and a couple of B&Bs. I’m so excited. I have a couple of questions :-) we got each other a drone for Christmas so we could capture some of the epic landscape from above. Do you know if any of the locations you found on sky or prohibiting drones? It looked like you guys had captured some drone footage of some parts, but not others, so I thought you might know. :-) Thank you so much for the video! I love that you took your baby with you. Don’t stop exploring!✌🏼
Sounds like quite the trip! In terms of drone, be sure to register your drone with the UK. They have resources on where you can fly it. Based on my research, I believe everywhere I took mine up was legal. I always try to follow the rules.
I really enjoyed this video. We are going this May for 2 weeks and this was just what I needed…can’t wait. The looked so delicious. Well done thanks you.
TIP FOR VISITORS: I know this is far too late to be of use to you but if it helps you or other travellers on future visits to the UK, please note that the penalty for not wearing a seatbelt in the UK, drivers and passengers included (even if sitting in the back due to issues like the "flying granny" effect on the passenger in front), is an on the spot fine of £100 (e.g., @1:50 and @2:20). 🙂 Enjoying your videos, by the way. 😄
You mentioned that "someone used photoshop and then the legend was born". Just to clarify, the earliest reports of a strange water monster appears in an ancient text from the sixth century A.D.. This describes an encounter by the Irish monk Saint Columba who was staying nearby. On hearing of the monster he sent one of his companions to check out the river. Later, on seeing the monster, Columba made the sign of the cross and banished the creature to Loch Ness. I hope this helps.
So I'll be there in the middle of May. I looked up Monkstadt and discovered availability is slim and prices are just over 400 quid per night. You should tell us that in your video.
Scotland is my country but living in Ireland at the moment. Me and my partner went on a 700 mile road trip in Scotland a few years ago. Some areas were new for me too. It was a fab long weekend.
We were in Scotland in 2018 and so enjoyed ourselves we planned a return trip in 2021. That didn't happen because of COVID restrictions on travel. We are so excited to go back this year, in the Summer of 2023, so I am drinking up the atmosphere from your videos. We have made most of our bookings more than 6 months in advance, but are also trying to keep a little flexible on what we see and do. I love photography and filming but wasn't sure if I should take my drone or not. I'm slightly disabled now so have to use a hiking pole most of the time and be careful on uneven ground. And there's a lot of that in Scotland! But the walks you can take and the views are just fantastic. So it's a bit of a decision working out what gear I can practically manage and how much my companions may or may not be able to help with. I guess you weren't traveling that light yourselves with a little one to care for!
It's too bad you couldn't make it Eilean Donan for lunch. They have a fabulous cafe’. FYI even the Scots have trouble pronouncing names of their cities and attrations. Your photography is wonderful.
Another really great video and I've seen a lot of other people go to that one site where all the people were, taking pictures and shooting videos there. It's such an incredible view. A photographers dream!
Yes, Kilt Rock is a lovely place, however its actually kind of hard to see the falls. Best seen from a boat, but we didn't have time for that unfortunately!
We had our at the time 4 month old, so we didn’t get too far off the beaten path. Isle of Skye gets tons of rain, so I would recommend a second pair of shoes and a plan for dirty shoes in your car, so a pair of hiking shoes might be a solid choice to pack, especially if you want to go further in some of the areas than we did
New subs here. Heading to Scotland for the month of August. We’re planning to do the loop from Glasgow to Portree, then up to John O’Groates, Inverness, and then on to Edinburgh. Thanks for the highlights!!
Haha the legend of Nessie is MUCH older than photoshop or the internet. When travelling around Scotland it's really essential to read up on the history of the places and phenomenons you are visiting to get something othernthan views from it. Also imo talking to the locals is imperative to the experience and getting all the local lore and insider tips on what walks to take, what's really worth seeing, and details that aren't marketed in generic sightseeing pamphlets. I always stayed in places run by locals so I could make sure to make those connections. There's alot more of interest just under the surface of it all. It's a culture with alot of appreciation for the mystic, history and nature.
We're in the process of sharing videos from our Scotland trip and enjoyed seeing yours to see what we missed and what we did differently than you. Great sharing guys!
It made me smile when you said that it’s hard to believe that someone didn’t design this because someone really did! For by Him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities-all things were created through him and for Him Colossians 1:16 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters Genesis 1:1-2
I have watched quite a few travel videos made by Americans visiting Britain, as I am interested in their response. My question is why do they all seem to be focused on the food.
I like your food, sweet potato soup and cod fish. Yum! I am glad to hear that you traveled in July. So I start to notice what you wore for your July trip to Scotland.
Beautiful area! Yea we learned our lesson quickly. We try to be very judicious with our time renting automatics, since they are usually approaching double the cost of manual
Nice travelogue - I like the area around Uig. PS: You don't need to worry about butchering the place names as the translation to English already did that. Quiraing a good example.( no Q in the Gaelic language)
Wonderful video😀 How much time did it take you to reach the Isle of Skye from Edinburgh? Was it hard for first-time driving on the left-hand side of the road?
Hello! We’re going to be headed to Scotland for 5 days. Heading from Edinburgh to Isle of Skye. How long did you have for your trip?
Alina, we were there for 8 days…with 5 days you’ll probably only be able to do Isle of Skye and Edinburgh! Great spots to visit though!

Should check out GLASGOW'S devil's pool pit its GLASGOW metropolitan area 😂😂🎉🎉🎉
What a beautiful family, so glad you're enjoying my home, we take it all a bit for granted. Subbed.
Thank you, beautiful country, can’t wait to return!

Go anywhere in Scotland and do anything and you will fall in love. Going there for my second time in 3 weeks and I cannot wait.
Have a great trip! We know we can't wait to get back!

Is Eilean Donan really on the Isle of Skye?
It’s not on the Isle of Skye. It’s about 10 miles from the bridge to the isle of skye

Lia, if you take your drone, be sure to register it with the UK government, they have maps of where you can fly it
Did you book advance admission for Urqhart and Eilean Donan?
The only correction I can offer ..: Quirang is Kuirang (no Q in Gaelic)
It's too bad you couldn't make it Eilean Donan for lunch. They have a fabulous cafe’. FYI even the Scots have trouble pronouncing names of their cities and attrations. Your photography is wonderful.
Thank you! Unfortunately we had to stick to a schedule and we got there when we could!
The cafe was closed anyway. It's been closed since the pandemic, only reopened in October 2022
Your filming makes me dizzy!!
People always seem to bypass the borders and it’s got some of the best scenery
We look forward to exploring more of Scotland in the future
Glad you loved my island
More like 4 seasons in 1 hour.😂
What month was this again?
Do you absolutely need hiking shoes? Heading over there on June! Love your video, thank you!
We had our at the time 4 month old, so we didn’t get too far off the beaten path. Adam, did you have to obtain a permit/license to fly your drone while in Scotland?
Great question and yes I did with the UK government

Naaahhhhhhh they weren't really though.
So your sky fairy deliberately made wee worms to blind children did he?
Fairly new sub here, enjoying your videos so much! I’m definitely going to start making some travel plans!
Welcome aboard!
I have watched quite a few travel videos made by Americans visiting Britain, as I am interested in their response.
My question is why do they all seem to be focused on the food.
Because it’s delicious
Scotland is the only country in the world that has four seasons in five minutes. Just subscribed.
We heard that while we were there!
Pretty much happens in Ireland too
Canada is like that too!
Another one I like is - today's rain is tomorrow's whisky
@@MarlynMeehan And, there's plenty of that!!
The last time you came to England!?
Yes we were there in 2018
Haste ye back, as we say in Scotland. Merry Christmas.
I like your food, sweet potato soup and cod fish. Yum! I am glad to hear that you traveled in July. So I start to notice what you wore for your July trip to Scotland.
Definitely bring a coat
Heading back end of March through April....this time, spending more time in the Highlands! Love your videos!
Thank you Tara, enjoy your trip!
No locals would be in coats in July ! Hardly wear them in Winter😂
We aren’t locals! 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏼♀️
We did that trip some years ago, it was incredible. And yeah, we rented a manual transmission car - don't recommend it, lol!

Ness was first documented with St Columba, no camars, matbe vivid imagenations.

You should videotape kilt rocks from different angles. Yours is not that clear when compared with the others.
That was great, thanks. Nice to see you enjoying yourselves, your baby is adorable.
Thank you Manfred!
My favourite restaurant in Portree Isle of Skye is Scorrybreac Restaurant. Great service and food is amazing.
Thanks for sharing
@@AdamandMadalyn welcome .
So beautiful! Love the video! I’m headed there in less than 2 months and I can’t wait!! TFS!
You will love it! It’s such a beautiful country!

My Great Grandfather's wife came from the Isle Of Skye, I wish to be able to see it before I die.
What country are you from?
@@Psmith-ek5hq Im in Australia.
Scotland is beautiful and the people are lovely.
Agreed on both accounts!
