Always thankful for your feedback Wes! I am glad I checked your name and saw that you run a channel too =) always nice to check out other mad men in the same position as oneself haha
Hey Daniel! So the "CPU Mining 101" Project folder is already in existence, but I was still not sure how to best start. I was thinking of maybe Cryptonight Light because it is easy also for older CPUs - is there anything you would be interested in specifically?
@@CursedMining I think cryptonite lite would be a good one, something like aeon or turtle maybe. Or monero just because that is where most people seem to start. I have been trying to find new CPU minable coins but haven't been having much luck
I have only watched colleagues with their Burst Coin experiments in the past, but I myself have never done HDD mining. I also saw funny devices like XKey which also utilize free disk space to earn a bit, but I did not get my hands on it yet unfortunately. Do you have experiences with HDD mining Ben? (for now only the AMD rig you saw in this video actually has a drive, small SSD, the other Rig only uses HiveOS). But I will be building a media/storage server this year for the channel (running out of space haha), so maybe it would be a good timing to do some experiments on this too. Thanks for the feedback!
I did a reasonable amount of research and found it wasn't worth buying equipment for. Only if you have things laying around. My rigs use usb and smos so it's a no go for those anyhow. If I had a pc I'd do it just to make use of it. Vosk did a rig with gpu cpu and hdd mining. Hasn't posted an update on it though. Keep up the good work :-)
I came to the same conclusion back then and didn't try it, but rather watched others =) for me it is the other way around haha, I need more space to be honest =D (first world media guy problem). Oh yeah I remember the "Tri-miner", a pity there was never an update on it =( Thank you once again =)
I was searching some information about mining and I came across your channel.I will like to follow up on your channel to know more. I m considering mining electroneum and boid with my computer.
Actually planning two vids which are connected to that :) one "CPU Mining 2021" - currently collecting more data to show some more numbers too, and then also the build video where this CPU ended up :D I also never gave up on the idea :) stay tuned, cheers man!
Nice work, i always thought it was odd that miners would have 4 to 6 gpu mining rigs with just a dual core cpu with a TDP of around 60watts, for just another 30watts they would be utilizing the whole rig with a cpu that could mine, i have an old dinosaur FX-8320 overclocked to just over 4Ghz with 2 gtx 1060`s, and it chug's along, would like to see a few video`s on the miners you use please
Hey Tucker, exactly mate, I think so too! Especially since the 6600k would only use 60w while mining anyway :) Respect for the FX Dinosaur :D just because hardware is older doesn't mean it can't work for us :) thanks for sharing mate and the feedback, I'll go more in depth about the software side of things as soon as I can :) cheers!
Thanks mate would be a good help on the software side, the dinosaur has been hammered over the years and has not complained once lol, got a budget after market cooler the Antec A40 pro that keeps it nice and cool, and thanks for sharing
so that you don't have to wait for the video =D (because I think I might do a little give-away first, wanted to do that since surpassing 1k Subs to say thank you to you all) my "standard" for Cryptonight/CPU was always XMR-Stak - but right now (starting from this video) I was testing JCEminer, for now it seems to work very well with the i5 =) just checked the Antec cooler, very good price! I just can never resist to slap a Noctua fan on everything I can haha =D
Thankyou for sharing that, be good to seem the performance of other cpu miners, i`m using the Claymore CryptoNote cpu miner i have 8 cores with 8 threads so i set it to 6 threads, average is around 380 h/s, the Antec is an awesome budget fan, cpu temp while mining stays around 40 ish degrees celcius, those Noctua fans are good quality very reliable
A lot of different miners =) for XMR (and other Cryptonight + fork projects) my "standard" is XMR-Stak (CPU as well as GPU), right now I am testing JCEminer as alternative for cryptonight, for now it works nice for the low power CPU. For ETHhash I always used Claymore's miners. For freaky algos like Lyra2rev2 (nVidia) I use ccminer. SHA3 was SKminer - if you need software for something specific which I didn't mention just tell me =) P.s.: The easiest way to do it is to use HiveOS (a mining operating system) because it has most of the software included (I have a link in the description, it is free for up to 3 rigs) - hope I could help
Hey - forgot to write this here: I did a follow up on the mining software question in the farm update that followed, if you are still interested =) ruclips.net/video/U8wd75Nn4TE/видео.html
Hey! So for Monero (and similar coins) you'd want to enable lock large page files in your OS (meaning the mining software can lock memory for the mining process), gives generally higher/more stable hashrates - here is a link on how to do it on Win10: docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/database-engine/configure-windows/enable-the-lock-pages-in-memory-option-windows?view=sql-server-2017
Hello i didn't know windows 10 has SQL Server Service in it. so if i follow this hat type in increase does it give? Also step number 67 is confusing to me. it says click Add User or Group. So i did then in number 7 it says In the Select Users, Service Accounts, or Groups dialog box, select the SQL Server Service account. Where do you find the user at? There is none of that there.
I have an i5 6400 too but I don't mine with it and an Asus expert mining (19pcie), I use SRBMiner for Cryptonight forks , works better then XMR, I have 2 rx580 (I was doing 1khash per card on Cryptonight Heavy) and 3gtx1080 for others coins, after I add it another gtx somehow my hash drop on the rx580 from 1kh to 780hs, that was yesterday, today is doing better 940hash per card. On XMR I was doing 740hahs and I used for more then a week.
Hey Man thank you for sharing your nice setup :) will check SRBminer, testing JCEminer with the 6600K right now! Would you mind sharing how you reached ~1khash per 580? Would be interesting :)
Never ROI =D nah kidding, but it is totally experimental. So only 150 - 200 h/s on Cryptonight7, now I am experimenting with Cryptonight Lite 7 - here it gets at least 700 - 800 h/s so let's see =D will be doing some updates

Another great video as always cursed. Yeah I’d like to see a video on cpu mining, maybe then I’d see what I can do with my i7 . Keep up as always 👍🏻
I got love the way you make these videos! ;)
Thank you very much Bittruth!!

Thank you very much Ben! I love those kinds of experiments =) thanks for tuning in and glad to have you!

Can we get an update now cursed? I'm real curious I love the idea of hybrid rigs

In terms of user it means the "user" you log into your PC with, f.e. 'admin' etc.
