Addendum: I recorded this before the security footage leaked regarding Tim Lambesis. It is even more clear that he is still disturbed and potentially dangerous. I do not condone his behavior and my placement of the album on this list is entirely one in regards to enjoying the music at the time.
It's a challenging case of "Can you separate the art from the artist" innit? For me, fwiw, the answer is 'No'. Too many horrible people in the world today acting with impunity. If the least I can do to strike back at them and show my disagreement with their behaviour is to ignore their work, then I will do so.
As a hungarian myself, I'm always so happy to see Thy Catafalque mentioned.... well anywhere. One of my favorite bands out there, Tamás Kátai id a musical and lyrical genius.
Poppy really surprised me this month. I took a hit off my wife's weed vape and listened to it front-to-back and enjoyed it quite a bit. Opeth stands above for sure. Great record from a band that deserves all the praise they're receiving. Best of the year for me is still a mix up of: - 156/Silence - Knocked Loose - Blood Incantation - Chat Pile - Boundaries - CANDY - Job for a Cowboy - Uniform - Amyl and the Sniffers - thrown - Better Lovers - IDLES
Thank you for your videos! You are a passionate and knowledgeable person when it comes to metal culture. I don't know how you manage to listen to so many albums and still be able to have an opinion and an analysis for most of them. My regards from France.
My favourite album of November 2024 is not even a metal album: it’s the new album by The Cure. Robert Smith does a fantastic job on the vocals on the album, and the whole band is firing on all cylinders. Plus, it just fits dreary November days perfectly. For rock and metal, I like the new LINKIN PARK record, but the best heavier records of the month came from Yoth Iria, Bedsore and a surprise release from the Swiss folk/black metal band Ungfell!
Opeth's The Last Will and Twstament fantastically blends the best elements of classic and modern Opeth. For a fantastic noise rock pick I want to shout out Hello Hell by Midacle Blood, the post metal masterpiece Tidal Passages by Drownship, and Inheritance by the French death/doom band Lying Fugures.
Yet another awesome list, with open minded pros (and sometimes small cons.) This is such a cool way to find good, "new to you" music. It's like having a cool older sibling- but they are mostly right about the music they try to pass along to you.
I'd like to add some of my fave's of November. The Foreshadowing, Carnal Savagery, Maat, Defeated Sanity, Besra, Bombus, Drift Of Genes, Monolithe, Yoth Iria, Codespeaker, Panzerfaust, 10.000 Years, Eurynome
Great Picks! My personal top 5 so far this month are 1. Burial Oath - The Cycles of Suffering 2. Molder - Catastrophic Reconfiguration 3. Gutless - High Impact Violence 4. Fellowship - The Skies Above Eternity 5. Opeth - The Last Will and Testament
I'm usually not expecting much from November releases but this month kicked so much ass. Several even have a chance to be on my best of the year list. Here are my favorites of the month. 1. Thy Catafalque - XII: A gyönyörű álmok ezután jönnek (avant-garde metal: black metal/heavy metal/progressive metal/folk/electronic/jazz) 2. Burial Oath - The Cycles of Suffering (black metal) 3. Bedsore - Dreaming the Strife for Love (progressive death metal/progressive rock) 4. Make Them Suffer - Make Them Suffer (metalcore/deathcore) 5. Poppy - Negative Spaces (alternative metal/metalcore/industrial/electropop/synth-pop) 6. Yoth Iria - Blazing Inferno (melodic black metal) 7. Svar - In the Land Called Night (melodic black metal) 8. Hrad - Leaving the Ancient Times Behind (atmospheric black metal/dungeon synth) 9. Tribulation - Sub Rosa In Æternum (gothic rock/post-punk/black 'n' roll) 10. Linkin Park - From Zero (nu metal/alternative rock/alternative metal)
Opeth is magical, but I think Mitochondrian edged them out as my favorite for Nov, it's a close race. Veilburner is fantastic too. My other additions to the list: Yoth Iria - The Blazing Inferno Panzerfaust - Suns of Perdition Chapter 4 Djevel - Natt Til Ende The Foreshadowing - New Wave Order

Great list, as per usual. I'm a big fan of a few of the picks on here. My favorites of the month were Devenial Verdict, Veilburner, Defeated Sanity, The Body, Opeth, and... oddly enough, also Poppy, haha Mitochondrion was also a very interesting listen, but I need to go back to that album and try to decipher it better, I was pretty overwhelmed the first time around. I'm also looking forward to Feral Forms, a war metal album that drops Friday, I believe. Shoutout to Sylvaine's remaster of "Silent Chamber, Noisy Heart" and Chelsea Wolfe's beautiful new EP "Unbound," which helped contrast the nightmarish metal I was listening to, lmao
Great choices and recommendations! Mitochondrion and Thy Catafalque may be in my Top 10 for the year. I was wondering which would be the album of the month but, of course, it has to be that one! Another potential Top 10. Poppy was my “guilty pleasure”. After multiple Defeated Sanity and Mitochondrion listens, it feels just right haha Keep it up, MT!
Several albums this month that are very high on best of the year for me. Distant, Lifesick, saltwound, opeth, counterparts. Vola, ulver was great as well 🤘

bro, how you not even gonna mention The GOAT, The King Amongst Kings, Paysage D'Hiver's new album???😩 I'm biased af because i love them, but they've been around long enough and put out so many bangers that the band deserves more recognition
The make them suffer album was an interesting choice. I've been in love with this band since Old Souls and when Doomswitch dropped I was over the moon with how good they sounded, but I feel like apart from the first two singles they released with Alex (Epitath and Doomswitch) I feel like they're losing steam. Oscilator and Mana God were.... a near hit, but I feel like there's something off with them... Also, love the fact that people are starting to move away from the Lorna hype (I know you weren't a fan of Pain Remains). I feel more hype and attention needs to go to bands like Worm Shepherd, Synestia and Mental Cruelty instead of just bandwagoning a single band, because of a viral TikTok breakdown.
