That's why I can't wait to see it arrive here in seattle. That way I'd like to get a chance to be one of the first ones to ride in one of those. And the reason why I say this is very simple. I think what's going to end up happening is that some of us blind people and the disabled will have to learn how to use the technology and to use their app to basically bring the car to us and then we can just get in it and go. All we have to do is put in the address where we need to go or put in the business name and it will basically take us to that business that we need to go to. If we need to go to McDonald's to go grab something to eat all I have to do is just say take me to McDonald's and it will tell me where the nearest McDonald's is and then after that it will just take me right straight there. No need to catch a bus or two. It will do it all in one fell swoop. Who knows it could also take me to my bank to make sure I can get the rent paid. As a matter of fact I just heard about it the other day that waymo is coming to Seattle. And it won't be long now before they start testing these cars here in the area. and hopefully what they will do is make sure these cars are not only tested in Seattle but in King county washington. So I think we better wait and see what happens until they put those things together.
You don't have to go McDonald's in Waymo. You can go in an Uber too, fir disabled people it'd all the same whether a person drives them or the car. Besides, you can always get food delivered it'll cost you much less. You also do not need to go to the bank to pay rent, you can just do it from your mobile app.

Did I feel uncomfortable to be doing 60 mph on the freeway, in terrible conditions with a driver that I could see was stoned and also watching Jimmy Fallon on his phone?? Yes, I did, but I also got to my location safely. My point is, Waymo doesn't smoke weed, doesn't get tired, doesn't have problems at home, isn't thinking about what they'll make for dinner, doesn't speak to his mate whilst driving and focuses on its one job, getting you safely from point A to point B. I'm not sure there's any reason the service would have to go offline just because the car isn't driving itself. As much as I want this, I feel like this can only truly work in cities that don’t have adverse weather patterns. One snow fall and I’m sure this thing will need help.
I think the combination of cameras, radar (which can see through fog) and lidar make this system more resilient against adverse weather compared to systems that only use cameras for navigation
I live in Tempe Arizona where the weather is lovely all year round. I see these vehicles quite often and had no idea what they were. Recently I overheard some co workers talking about these vehicles and I just became more confused. These co workers are not the smartest but they truly believed that these cars purpose was to spy in the areas of cities where there is known criminal activity.. Of course this crazy sounding but watching this video made me even more confused. First of all they look completely automated and I am sure they are but 100% of the times I saw them there was someone (driver?) sitting in the front seat. Even more strange I have never seen anyone sitting in the back seat. Never have I seen one driving alone. Always always always they drive around with one passenger only and that passenger I'd always in the driver seat.
I just got back from Tempe and they definitely are real lol. At first I was so creeped out but then I was intrigued to try if. I used them to get around to restaurants and my hotel. It was SOOOO COOL! And it was incredible how safe it was. I was impressed beyond belief!
Is the data processing done onboard or is it done remotely via 5 G. If done remotely, what happens during a communications breakdown or even momentary interruption at the wrong instant? If done onboard, how does it coordinate with current driving conditions, ie traffic, accidents, road closures, emergency vehicles, etc.?
Cannot imagine it would be done remotely. Too much latency and too many reliability issues. It uses 5G no doubt to download extra mapping data. But as Waymo presentation outlines, high-res mapping data is used only as a historical reference, not as absolute truth - better to have some expectation of what is beyond the horizon than no expectation at all. But live data from sensors is always the more important source of truth.
Just saw one of these half an hour ago. Thats why im here. Thought it was a google maps car until i realized that those dont drive at night. So i looked it up. Pretty insane world were living in.

what if you have a lot of suitcase from airport...will this be ok
Just took one this morning Scottsdale, AZ Kinda eerie and cool at the same time
I need this🚗❤
if i call a waymo uber, what will there be any music or it will just be completely silence?
You can cast music from your phone to the Waymo stereo.
Hi, how much does it cost.?
Notice how, at about 3:01, the scene about bumper-to-bumper traffic, there is not another vehicle within 50 feet of Waymo?
I Love Tecknology 🙏🏻❤️
Waymo. I WAITED SOO LONG FOR THIS INVENTION. COME TO DETROIT MICHIGAN. I NEED WAYMO. I CAN STOP RELIEING ON UBER AND LYFT. PLZ MAKE DETROIT MICHIGAN YOUR NEXT DESTINATION AND LOCATION TO START WAYMO.
Uber and Lyft aren't soulless entities. That's real people you are talking about! Who drive those cars and for the most of us are here to be nice and still get paid, driving their own cars, paying taxes just like you and playing their part in fueling society. Who have families just like you and providing a service just like yourself. Imagine the lovely career you have now and suddenly someone invents an android to replace you! I bet you wouldn't feel so good then about your crass comments.
I love self-driving cars. I feel safer and ensure security
I wonder whether this is currently financially worthwhile for Waymo. The business model will definitely be very interesting. Having so many sensors integrated in a car is costly.
How does it do in rain or snow I wonder?
Can you sit in the waymo's driver seat wvile the car is driving it's own
No
this is 1 best way to get around everyone is always saying that that they need there own car but this proves you don't ths is 1 way to travel and to get around
How can ℹ invest in this ?
Exciting!
Dont these require pre-scanning everything before it drives, and it cant go outside that? Crutches don't scale and digital rails are painting oneself into a corner.
I love your cars!! I just filmed a short video of your location in San Francisco. Looking forward to you extending your service to Santa Clara :)
what if ever pulled over example if your brake or turning signals are damaged
Ive seen these numerous times out in LA but today was the first time i realized they were driverless, all this time i thought they were Mapping Cars or something, i had no idea they were driverless
I seen one today and learned something new! Lol
how can i to get a job as a gada labeling for liidar task like this
I need this where I am so I don't have to drive my mom everywhere 😅 I love her but she rants and vents about everything. It makes my head spin and I can't handle going out into the world everyday without work being a reason. I need my introvert days in 😂
How to get a invite code? I am new to US
Kool. I like driving, but I still would like to try this.
How many self-driving autonomous cars created?
I need an invitation code
It says it hears sirens, but I saw one cut off an ambulance a few weeks ago.
As much as I want this, I feel like this can only truly work in cities that don’t have adverse weather patterns. One snow fall and I’m sure this thing will need help.
I am sure in time AV's will be able to handel any weather
And they do drive alone! I think there are some that have a driver to assist maybe for different routes? But they were driving by themselves!!
On-board
It's waymo!
I'm sitting in a waymo right now lol.
How would road rage work now with this 😂
Just saw one of these half an hour ago. Thats why im here. Thought it was a google maps car until i realized that those dont drive at night. So i looked it up. Pretty insane world were living in.
You can see these cars driving around with no one at all in them here in Phoenix. I guess they're going to pick up the next rider. It looks strange seeing a car driving all by itself but it also looks great.
@@joesitter20101that would trip me out the first time I think lol
By the way , how to get invite code
how to get invited?
We need you guys in Eureka Ca
Clearly explained.
How do I get an invite ?
Man ist geschockt, wenn man zum ersten Mal selbstfahrende Autos sieht. In San Francisco konnte ich es beobachten und dachte als erstes, ich bin im Since-Fiction Film. 😅
Cuando llegarán a México 🎉🎉😊
Somewhere out there, Sarah Connor is one unhappy camper.
Waymo closer to a lot of people being jobless
I see this 🚗 car most time I look so nice
Self-driving cars will all drive in SEquence and it will eliminate traffic accidents
What happens when someone hacks into one of these things and plows it into a crowd of people
This is actually a pretty good question.
