Hey Usman. Great review as always. Have to agree about the burn issue. To much talk about wonky burns, just touch it up, its part of the theatre of cigar smoking. I've had the Monte before, one of my first Cubans but for me, Davidoff Signature Petit Corona gets my vote for this vitola. Mild yet complex and so flavourful. Keep up the good work!
Excellent videos my friend. I've always preferred the smaller ring guages. 5.5" to 6" x 42 seems to be perfect. Especially for cuban cigars. Of course I'll smoke anything from 36 ring gauge to a 56 ring guage. But absolutely nothing over 56
Montecristo no 4 was my first real cigar I smoked cigarellos before, it was my first proper cigar and still one of my favorites today. Can't go wrong with romeo y julieta very good paired with black coffee 👌
Hello, Have you tried the Ramon Allones small club coronas? I think that the Ramon Allones is such an underrated cigar manufacturer, I prefer them and Por Larranagas to other more expensive brands.
I agree totally the Monty 4 hands down is the better smoke. Burn is always hit and miss but never seeme to effect the flavor. Really enjoy the vids. 👌🏾
Great cigars both, but romeo y Julieta burns so nice just the way it ashes and burns always blew my mind as I smoked them, aswell and the smoothness and flavor profile it has
Hey man. Lucky I saw this. I just smoked the romeo on the beach on my vacation and hated it. Not so much the cigar, just had a bad burn and bad construction. But it was very very windy and I had to keep babysitting it! I will try again in a better environment
Good video. Smoking an MC4 from my box of 25 (still have 23 left after this one). The first one was enjoyable and so is this one. They're smoking well, even when relatively young! They're MAR 20. The 2019-2020 (+maybe 2018, at least some) batches of Cubans produced have been great from what I've heard. Great smoke output (and draw). Burn isn't bad at all. Chocolatey/cocoa powder. Earthy. A bit fruity/citrusy (cuban twang?).
Thanks. To me, the Petit Corona is the perfect smoke. 30 minutes' enjoyment time is just about right for me. 15 minutes is not long enough to reflect on life..... 1 hr is so long, one might get morose!
My first Cuban was the 4 and i fell in love lol The mill fluer back when i bought them was a cheapy smoke That said i have some 15 years of age i will have to smoke one now haha
I'm cigar smoker since 25 ys-old and I want tell you this: DONT SMOKE cigar in indoor space, because the passive smoke it's VERY DANGEROUS for our healt, (more than cigarette). Tank's for your video....
Had a MC #4 w/2.5 yrs humidor time as I watched. Picked some up on Habana cruise. Unsmokable 1st yr. This was a flavor bomb out of the gate. 3-4 touch-ups. M-F body. I'll avoid the RyJ. Ramon Alloness Specifically Selected still my fav Cuban.
I love the r&j2 tubos- really reliable decent smoke that’s easy to get and not too expensive. I will try the monte4 as had bad experiences with no2 and open series due to construction issues
In the EU Romeo y Julieta Mille Fleurs - €4,80 Montecristo No. 4 - €9,60 Romeo y Julieta Short Churchill -€11,80 Instead of Montecristo No.4 I go straight to Short Churchill.
Very relatable with regards to the R&J. Tons of classic Cuban sour notes, so much so that it can be overbearing, but not a whole lot else going on. Admittedly, I've never really had a properly aged R&J though. I can only assume that all that Cuban sourness becomes refined goodness with time. How else would the marca achieve its reputation right? How much time I don't know, but I suspect we have to exceed the first maturation stage by a few years at least, so we could be talking anywhere from 4 to 10+ years depending on the vitola and storage. More cigar questions :D Hopefully I'll find out some day. Thanks for the review.
I picked up a few boxes of RyJ Mille Fluers from Montefortuna and they have 2014 box dates on them, I'll give them a week or two in the humidor to settle in and I'll get back to you with how they taste. :D
@@christophersmith7412 Please do, if you would be so kind. They are small cigars so,.. in boxes of 25 they have probably started their second maturation stage which is most interesting. Most interesting indeed. I don't know where you live, but a week might not be enough. I've heard up to 90 days after serious transportation from a knowledgeable source. You could smoke them 3 times within a time span of 90 days and report on the potential difference haha. A quest within a quest.
@@QualeQualeson MF ship vacuum sealed with a boveda so the only issue with their journey will have been inconsistent temp, not knowledgeable enough to know how much that would affect them. Check back in about a week and hopefully I'll have something to report!
@@christophersmith7412 It's a mystery. It can make them truly horrible (I'm still traumatized by a Monte No.2 that tasted like straight up acetone and physically hurt my mouth), or it can have no discernible effect at all. You don't know what they're exposed to and you don't know how they'll react, which can even be on an individual basis. So my guess is that the three months is based on the attitude that when in doubt, just give cigars plenty of time. Sometimes they'll need it, sometimes not at all, but you as a cigar smoker shouldn't have to be in such a hurry that you need to break into the box sooner anyway. And as you probably know, this is one of the hardest thing with cigars and the real reason why the hobby lends itself to people who can afford it. I'm just getting into it in a serious way myself. I have passed 50, and now you're telling me that when I buy a box I'm going to have to wait at least 3-8 years just to get the basic upgrade to a semi finished product?! But... It's Saturday night and I want to smoke a cigar! If you have the money, you buy up lots and lots of cigars with different age on them so that you'll always have a few vitolas that are old enough. With premium habanos, it's not primarily about marcas and vitolas, it's about age. If you're kinda new, you have to shell out for vintage cigars while you wait years and years for your harvest to come around. It's enough to drive a man crazy haha, but also part of the attraction. I might be dead before some of my cigars reach excellence! In this perspective, waiting 3 months to try a new shipment is not a lot and probably a good way of practicing the discipline you need to do this right. I "recently" bought a 50 cab Por Larranaga and tried one after a while. The verdict was crystal clear, they need several years just to reach a basic value level. Since then, I've probably cursed myself 10 times because I want a cigar and I convinced myself that since a month has passed, now they'll magically be great somehow. They never are of course :D I can tell that they will be in the future, but I'm a degenerate who wants his satisfaction right away.
@@QualeQualeson I've avoided purchasing any PL cigars for that very reason. I've been reliably told that with 5+ years they're phenomenal and develop a distinct caramel note. In total I have maybe 150 cigars but that includes a box or two for very special occasions. Perhaps when I have a larger collection I will feel comfortable investing in cigars that I can forget about for 5+ years. I don't really have the finances to specifically buy aged cigars, which is why I try to buy a mixture of New World and Cuban; I can enjoy the NW cigars now and leave some Cubans for "later". As for the RyJ MF I smoked one this afternoon and it was a pleasant experience, nothing amazing but nothing to complain about either. Overall it was VERY smooth but also VERY mild with a short finish. What stood out to me was that for about the first half of the cigar there was a distinct fruity, almost citrus note which left a tingle on my tongue between draws. The second half was predominantly nutty with distinct Cuban tobacco smoothness. For the price I paid each stick works out around £3 and I think I would be hard pressed to find a cigar of similar value that would give the same enjoyment.
Hey buddy! Ive been watching your videos for awhile and realized I was being a major douche and haven't subscribed! Subscribed and Liked! Thanks for your opinions on the best tobacco ever, Cubano! Got a question, what is the main difference in the different montecristos? Like #2, #3, #4, #5? Is the tobacco different? Or is it just the size? Thanks again!

Some days I like the RyJ MFs and other days they’re sour and gross. Love the #4s! Try the Partagas Mille Fleur, they’re very good too and in the same price range. Can you review the Hoyo Epicure De Luxe? I tried one the other day and loved it. Thinking about going for a box.
I really enjoyed the Partagas one I thought that was great. After a little age, super nice tasting cigar. Also thank you for the suggestion, much appreciated, I’ll definitely put that on the list. Would you like it compared to anythjng or just an individual review?
Hmm. Would a compare against the Epicure #2 be too boring? I’d be curious to see any differences in the normal vs the LCDH. Thanks for the great content and for the reply!
It generally depends on how often you do it. If you're smoking lots of cigars per day then I'd say it's probably very bad for your health. If on the other hand you smoke occasionally then the impact is negligible based on the research done by the FDA. So it's entirely up to you but it is a very enjoyable and relaxing experience.
