I'm interested in what Lanolin will bring to the table. She seems to be quite grounded and prefers the "Plan first, action later" approach. Also, giving her a Rhythm Wisp is a bit surprising since the fanbase refers to it as useless, forgettable or the worst Wisp. Thankfully her Wispon Bell makes it useful. Eggperial City is starting to intrigue me now. Not only is there a MASSIVE diversity and quantity of robots, but the city heals itself and spreads??? Yeah, that city needs to go NOW.

Wouldn’t be completely out of left field since sonic and tails recently met with mecha mk2 again kn scrapnik island, and mecha mk1 and mk3 are heavily inspired by mecha Godzilla.
@@antonioch8434 Dark Gaia right now should be pretty weak actually. It takes after its fights with Chip's usually some odd 10000 years to regain its full strength. So it should be pretty weakened right now.
This issue is a great start for an adventure. Given how huge Eggperial City can become throughout the time, this could become the setting for another game-style story arc. The rise of Lanolin to the front lines was well performed. Given the idea of this setting taking place between Forces and Frontiers, I can see her as a support unit for the Avatar stages. She might be afraid to be in a room filled with lots of different heroes, but this sheep can still pack a punch. I love her combat style - she's not powerful, but she's capable of giving debuffs to enemies and doing recon missions, thanks to her personal Wisp and weapon. As for Eggman's new plan, his idea of sucking the life out of the planet reminds me a lot of 2 other Sonic scenarios: - the anime Sonic X, during the Metarex Arc, where the Metarex were capable of stealing the planet's Planet Egg, essencially robbing the planet of its energy for producing life (also one thing, doesn't the Eggperial City's main tower kinda resembles the anime's first Eggman base?) - the game Sonic Lost World, where Eggman creates a machine to extract the planet's energy, leaving it lifeless, but this time, Eggman perfected the machine to become stable. The only thing that intrigues me is the city's crystals... Also Tangle, honey, you just pressed Whisper's "Goku" Button - you shouldn't have done that.
Good review as always. A little something that wasn't mention: 3:13 Lanolin's device looks like a SEGA VMU (Visual Memory Unit), both a memory card and a handheld console used for the Dreamcast. Also, in 13:42 that's a Gekogeko from Sonic Advance 3, not a Ribot from Sonic 3.
If Sage pops up or some Ai is controlling the city as well as the city is created/repaired by nanites, It would be a evil/dark version of pre-rebot New Mobotropolus.

In TSR the Death Egg is up and running, it was destroyed in Forces and never seen again, suggesting that TSR takes place right before Forces. 2. In a Sonic Runners event we see Zavok leading the Deadly Six again. 3. Vector's vehicle from TSR, the Beat Monster, was seen in Sonic IDW Issue #43, again suggesting TSR took place before Forces.
You might be on to something here. With Lanolin, Tangle, & Wisper in another area (separate from Sonic) & Sonic in hiding from the badnicks, we would have two parties dealing with different sections of the "city". Eventually, they would stumble across the brain/heart.
Actually, in her first appearances her bell was just... a bell simple as that but now it looks more complex and detailed so I think it's a personalized Wispon she got after joining the resistance
I know Lanolin has her Wisp-bell but I wonder if that'll be enough, perhaps at some point during this arc she'll find a weapon/gadget among Eggman's stuff like Surge did. I guess I'll just need to see more of her in action.

one thing i realized is that the direction the two sides of how do we destroy eggpirial city is the oppisite of what they wanted to do Sonic wanted to attack now but has to call for backup while Lanolin wanted to retreat and call reinforcements but now stuck in the portal and has to fight eggpirial city without any extra backup i think this will be a slight development for Lanolin who will learn that sometimes you just have to use what you have now.
Although they aren't necessarily evil, the Nega Wisps are a bit more vicious than regular ones. Still, they are only formed when regular Wisps have too much Hyper-go-on drained from them.
No there are no evil wisp. Big even points this out on Team Sonic Racing. The closest to Evil Wisp we ever gotten were the Dark Arms in Archie Sonic basically by the Black Arms gene manipulated Wisp.

While indeed interesting, I found his issue a bit boring and uneventful, either way, cool. I like Lanolin, really like what they're doing with her, fun to see her grow in the background. I also love seeing how much Sonic cares for Whisper, it's very endearing, especially how she appreciates it. And of course, Adam B. Thomas is an amazing artist,
The Eggperial City feels like a spiritual successor to the Metal Virus and the Death Egg. The Metal Virus acted like a living virus and could infect organic material, and the Death Egg(headcanon validated by Scrapnik Island #1) was supposedly built to manipulate the earth itself, from volcanic activity to the weather. *Radio plays New World from Kirby& the Forgotten Land, but it's a multi language mashup. Sorry, my brain demanded I put a Night Vale reference when I realized I ended the sentence with 'weather.'* The City seems to be a mix of both, healing and spreading like the Metal Virus while impacting the very ground itself like the Death Egg did back in S3&K.
I was surprised how much I enjoyed this issue. Interesting Whisper reappeared so soon after she said she was going after Mimic. There hasn't been any mention of that.
I don't think she was going after Mimic; I'm pretty sure she knew that it was MIMIC who was after her and was trying to make sure no one got in the crossfire.

What came to my mind was "Cyberforming" from Transformers. The Decepticons have attempted to basically turn earth into a new Cybertron a few times. Of course, that would mean humanity wouldn't survive; thus the Autobots, as usual, fight to stop them.

Later, despite not being his original body, the Bem were able to convert it to an organic body when they "De-Roboticized" him and Snively.
I'm really liking team Diamond cutters: Lanolin makes a good concept for a power type dealing with sound in their own unique way, with her giant bell and her magenta wisp creating Sonic vibrations and also developing some sonar tricks because that kind of make you think it's weird that sheep has sonar but at the same time it works. You know if my theory turns out to be right that the next mobile game that Sega is releasing is gonna be polo polo with Sonic characters RPG style being functioned by you basically playing Candy Crush dictating your actions and the Candy Crush logos are the wisps I'm going to be horribly correct you know between this and my predictions of what's going to happen with Hasbro I am starting to really say why am I not getting my lottery numbers!
I don't think we need to worry about a Penders Situation. The artists here have more class an respect for the source material unlike that obese try hard who slipped pop culture references in to the point of shallow pandering. As for the issue itself, it's fine....nothing too major to report. Now, as for the living city....those crystals dotted around the city may be what it is after. Considering Crystals play significant roles in fiction, those would be a good place to start. The city actually reminds me of an SCP I read a few years ago: The Living Village. As the name implies, it is a small village that is located somewhere in India courtesy of a charity Organization called the Mana Charitable Foundation, which often uses anomalies in ways that are beneficial to the world at large. This Village in particular, unlike Eggperial City, doesn't feed like a parasite, but rather wants waste products like garbage, plastics, discarded foodstuffs. In turn, the village not only expands, but improves the structures within, evolving them over time for people to live in. It won't tolerate vandals or predators, especially to it's buildings, spawning pitfalls, spikes, circular saw, punji sticks.....generally to defend itself from aggressors or invaders. If left unfed, the building will wither, crumble and ultimately collapse. All in all, you don't give it a reason to hurt you, it won't attack. Feed it regularly, and your village will be fine. Considering the organic mass buried deep beneath the ground that every building is linked to...but I digress. I would like to believe the girls had ended up in a prison cell somewhere.
I hope we get to see Sonic team up with Tangle or whisper or any other characters in the future, it's getting a bit tiresome seeing him with only Tails and Amy all the time
Not for me, they're my two favorite Sonic characters and Sonic's two best friends. They bring out the best in Sonic's character. Besides, Amy hasn't teamed up with Sonic since 17 issues ago. Also, Blaze and Silver are coming as well.
I loved this issue. I hope that Whisper doesn't stay angry at Tangle. I know that Tangle didn't mean to get her angry and it's one of those moments that Tangle did not think about her choice of wording. Because Whisper is traumatized after everything. I hope that Whisper would forgive Tangle and I hope Tangle would say sorry. Because used to a best friends and if not something more. I ship Tangle x Whisper. And I wish they can make up. I do like Sonic and Lanolin friendship and dynamic. As Sonic is more carefree and a bit reckless and Lanolin is more careful and responsible. But make good friends. I'm not sure what happen to Tangle, Whisper, and Lanolin but I hope they escape. But yeah... Whisper needs therapy and also shipping Tangle x Whisper.

My personal prediction/fear is the new star lanolin might mimic the octopus in disgust he did say at the end of badguys he would was coming whisper. And the odd pairing would a twist however I just the new team dynamic set up.
Probably it helped that, and this might be a touchy subject to some, Lanolin seems to act a lot like Sally Acorn, right down to her wanting to plan ahead, trying to go at things logically, her dialogue and presentation, arguing with Sonic at how he does things, putting herself down when things go sour, and giving her computer devices feminine names. Frankly, I'm not sure how I feel about that.
Am I the only one who is sick of every new character sharing the same body type, eye shape, and height? I miss when characters had more unique designs like Big, Vector, prototype Fang, Rough and Tumble etc. I don't want every new chatacter to just be an altered Sonic design...it's tiring.

Pretty good start. I know that Whisper's plot point from Trial by Fire being dropped is really odd. But as that already was really badly written and contradicting her development from the Tangle and Whisper mini series am I kind of glad that its start to being dropped. Lanolin is a funny thing really. I mean she ended up as a major character on accident with Adam giving her a name on his social media outlet leading to Sega thinking she is a full character and wanting all rights to her leading to the writers now being able to use her in more direct ways. This is properly also the reason why she got away with both her unique name and her Rouge rivaling breast size. Her personality so far is rather nice. She seems to have inherited a lot of Sally's old characteristics that were thankfully purged from Amy after Metal Virus. Lets just hope she stays her own unique character and doesn't devolve into Sally 2. The only really bad part is Whisper not doing anything about the portal. Like not trying to break its generators with her gun, not using Hover to save herself, Tangle and Lanolin. Ether Whispers competence was seriously hampered by Tangle's stupid decisions earlier or Whisper still isn't quite alright against after Surge brutalized her the other day. I guess its odd that nether Sonic nor Lanolin noticed that Whisper was really not happy with the team name (especially Sonic as he so far was rather good at reading the room with her) Ian really wants us to stop thinking that the Rhythm Wisp is bad given how he made it Lanolins partner here. Well then there isn't a lot else to say for now we have to wait and see how things develop now.

Honestly I'm not interested in this arc. I'm done with the comics for a while untill they start focusing on Belle again. I'll watch beatman's reviews but that's it. Nothing else. Besides, if Belle doesn't appear or help out the heroes than I can't get ideas for my Make Genderbent version for my RP channel and have to come up with my own ideas.
Belle as appeared in 22 consecutive issues since her introduction (Issues 32 to issue 54). I think she has gotten enough time in the limelight for the moment.

Tangle is my favorite sonic girl made originally from Sonic Idw staff, she cracks me up.

Are there any wisps who work for the bad guys and want to help them, not by mind control, it's their own will, why did they never use that idea.
Although they aren't necessarily evil, the Nega Wisps are a bit more vicious than regular ones. Still, they are only formed when regular Wisps have too much Hyper-go-on drained from them.
No there are no evil wisp. Big even points this out on Team Sonic Racing.
The closest to Evil Wisp we ever gotten were the Dark Arms in Archie Sonic basically by the Black Arms gene manipulated Wisp.

While indeed interesting, I found his issue a bit boring and uneventful, either way, cool.
I like Lanolin, really like what they're doing with her, fun to see her grow in the background.
I also love seeing how much Sonic cares for Whisper, it's very endearing, especially how she appreciates it.

The Eggperial City feels like a spiritual successor to the Metal Virus and the Death Egg. The Metal Virus acted like a living virus and could infect organic material, and the Death Egg(headcanon validated by Scrapnik Island #1) was supposedly built to manipulate the earth itself, from volcanic activity to the weather.

The City seems to be a mix of both, healing and spreading like the Metal Virus while impacting the very ground itself like the Death Egg did back in S3&K.

I was surprised how much I enjoyed this issue.
Interesting Whisper reappeared so soon after she said she was going after Mimic.
There hasn't been any mention of that.
I don't think she was going after Mimic; I'm pretty sure she knew that it was MIMIC who was after her and was trying to make sure no one got in the crossfire.

What came to my mind was "Cyberforming" from Transformers. The Decepticons have attempted to basically turn earth into a new Cybertron a few times. Of course, that would mean humanity wouldn't survive; thus the Autobots, as usual, fight to stop them.

Later, despite not being his original body, the Bem were able to convert it to an organic body when they "De-Roboticized" him and Snively.
Perhaps they could've called for help via communication devices from the city, a balance bewteen Lanolin and Sonic's plans

I'm really liking team Diamond cutters: Lanolin makes a good concept for a power type dealing with sound in their own unique way, with her giant bell and her magenta wisp creating Sonic vibrations and also developing some sonar tricks because that kind of make you think it's weird that sheep has sonar but at the same time it works. You know if my theory turns out to be right that the next mobile game that Sega is releasing is gonna be polo polo with Sonic characters RPG style being functioned by you basically playing Candy Crush dictating your actions and the Candy Crush logos are the wisps I'm going to be horribly correct you know between this and my predictions of what's going to happen with Hasbro I am starting to really say why am I not getting my lottery numbers!

I don't think we need to worry about a Penders Situation. The artists here have more class an respect for the source material unlike that obese try hard who slipped pop culture references in to the point of shallow pandering.
As for the issue itself, it's fine....nothing too major to report.
Now, as for the living city....those crystals dotted around the city may be what it is after. Considering Crystals play significant roles in fiction, those would be a good place to start.
The city actually reminds me of an SCP I read a few years ago: The Living Village. As the name implies, it is a small village that is located somewhere in India courtesy of a charity Organization called the Mana Charitable Foundation, which often uses anomalies in ways that are beneficial to the world at large.
This Village in particular, unlike Eggperial City, doesn't feed like a parasite, but rather wants waste products like garbage, plastics, discarded foodstuffs. In turn, the village not only expands, but improves the structures within, evolving them over time for people to live in.
It won't tolerate vandals or predators, especially to it's buildings, spawning pitfalls, spikes, circular saw, punji sticks.....generally to defend itself from aggressors or invaders.
If left unfed, the building will wither, crumble and ultimately collapse.
All in all, you don't give it a reason to hurt you, it won't attack. Feed it regularly, and your village will be fine. Considering the organic mass buried deep beneath the ground that every building is linked to...but I digress.
I would like to believe the girls had ended up in a prison cell somewhere.

Not for me, they're my two favorite Sonic characters and Sonic's two best friends. They bring out the best in Sonic's character. Besides, Amy hasn't teamed up with Sonic since 17 issues ago. Also, Blaze and Silver are coming as well.
Remember when fans were speculating about Lanolin possibly being a double agent for Eggman? I guess this issue puts that theory to rest.
I loved this issue. I hope that Whisper doesn't stay angry at Tangle. I know that Tangle didn't mean to get her angry and it's one of those moments that Tangle did not think about her choice of wording. Because Whisper is traumatized after everything. I hope that Whisper would forgive Tangle and I hope Tangle would say sorry. Because used to a best friends and if not something more. I ship Tangle x Whisper. And I wish they can make up. I do like Sonic and Lanolin friendship and dynamic. As Sonic is more carefree and a bit reckless and Lanolin is more careful and responsible. But make good friends. I'm not sure what happen to Tangle, Whisper, and Lanolin but I hope they escape. But yeah... Whisper needs therapy and also shipping Tangle x Whisper.

My personal prediction/fear is the new star lanolin might mimic the octopus in disgust he did say at the end of badguys he would was coming whisper. And the odd pairing would a twist however I just the new team dynamic set up.

Honestly, this comic feels like the inside of a SatAM Episode!
Probably it helped that, and this might be a touchy subject to some, Lanolin seems to act a lot like Sally Acorn, right down to her wanting to plan ahead, trying to go at things logically, her dialogue and presentation, arguing with Sonic at how he does things, putting herself down when things go sour, and giving her computer devices feminine names.
Frankly, I'm not sure how I feel about that.
Sonic CD had automatic takeover machines that needed to be destroyed on Little Planet.

Am I the only one who is sick of every new character sharing the same body type, eye shape, and height? I miss when characters had more unique designs like Big, Vector, prototype Fang, Rough and Tumble etc. I don't want every new chatacter to just be an altered Sonic design...it's tiring.

Pretty good start.
I know that Whisper's plot point from Trial by Fire being dropped is really odd. But as that already was really badly written and contradicting her development from the Tangle and Whisper mini series am I kind of glad that its start to being dropped.
Lanolin is a funny thing really. I mean she ended up as a major character on accident with Adam giving her a name on his social media outlet leading to Sega thinking she is a full character and wanting all rights to her leading to the writers now being able to use her in more direct ways.
This is properly also the reason why she got away with both her unique name and her Rouge rivaling breast size.
Her personality so far is rather nice. She seems to have inherited a lot of Sally's old characteristics that were thankfully purged from Amy after Metal Virus.
Lets just hope she stays her own unique character and doesn't devolve into Sally 2.
The only really bad part is Whisper not doing anything about the portal.
Like not trying to break its generators with her gun, not using Hover to save herself, Tangle and Lanolin.
Ether Whispers competence was seriously hampered by Tangle's stupid decisions earlier or Whisper still isn't quite alright against after Surge brutalized her the other day.
I guess its odd that nether Sonic nor Lanolin noticed that Whisper was really not happy with the team name (especially Sonic as he so far was rather good at reading the room with her)
Ian really wants us to stop thinking that the Rhythm Wisp is bad given how he made it Lanolins partner here.

well, lanolin doesn't really know whisper, and whisper has her face covered most of the time and is usually very silent, so for all lanolin knows, that's just whisper's usual demeanor.

Honestly I'm not interested in this arc. I'm done with the comics for a while untill they start focusing on Belle again. I'll watch beatman's reviews but that's it. Nothing else. Besides, if Belle doesn't appear or help out the heroes than I can't get ideas for my Make Genderbent version for my RP channel and have to come up with my own ideas.
Belle as appeared in 22 consecutive issues since her introduction (Issues 32 to issue 54). I think she has gotten enough time in the limelight for the moment.
