THANK YOU!!! I was dreading trying to figure out how to get this off. I grabbed my floor jack handle, cut off the rubber from the lock, and pried it off. It took longer to cut the rubber off the lock.
My pin was to tight against the receiver to put a pipe around the lock so I used a demolition bar and tapped it in behind the lock with a hammer. I pried upward and 2 seconds later the pin snapped and it was off. Thank you for the video.
Believe it or not, this method works and is the best way to remove the hitch lock. I did it to my dad’s Tacoma. A little bit of back and forth bending, and the luck came right off. No damage to the lock. In fact, the lock is salvageable. The pin is the weak point and was broken. Kinda scary to see how easy it is to break this apart. Saved us $$$

Bought a new truck today and realized when I left the lot that they’d not taken off a decorative sports team logo hitch attachment thing which is locked on and they don’t have the key, gonna have to try this out! Thanks for the tip!
My biggest problem is finding that metal pipe. Tried home depot but the only thing they have are 10 footers for $70++ and they wont cut. Where do i get one of those?
