Hi Emily. You are so brave, and just a breath of fresh air. Thank you for being so candid, and telling your story. We are our best advocates for ourselves and our children. I too was told I was a crazy mom, when I kept telling the doctor something was very wrong with my two year old daughter. I kept saying she had a massive personality change, and that she smelled like “chemicals.” I got eye rolls. My pediatrician finally relented and had bloodwork run on her. I no sooner got back home after dropping her off at nursery school, and my phone was ringing. I was told my baby’s blood sugar was 542! Not lying, can’t make this up! The “chemical,” smell was ketones. She was in keto acidosis and I immediately had to get her to the hospital. That was 40 years ago. She has been a type 1 diabetic since the age of two. She is doing great, and is nurse herself! My second child, my son, was diagnosed with the same thing, at the age of four. And no, neither I, nor their father has diabetes. So I can appreciate your story. We know when something is wrong. Keep on fighting til someone listens. Love you, and your girls are precious.

Dear Sweet Emily….Thank you for sharing your story with us . I relate to everything you shared.. I have been an RN for 50 years..I’m 73 years old. I too worked Pediatrics my entire career.. I worked in the hospital Peds and then the last 6 years of my career I worked at a Psychiatric Hospital with Children that ranged in age from 5 years to 17 years of age. I, like you, am a huge advocate of children.. You exude such warmth, luv and caring, I honestly feel that you are one of Gods chosen. I am retired know, having worked until I was 67..I still miss it so much. I too, like most people, have been through struggles in life. I Thank God for every struggle and hardship in my life, because it has made me the person I am today. My husband passed away 13 years ago. God has blessed me with a 53 year old daughter and a 33 year old son. I have 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. I luv your videos and your beautiful children and your husband too. Sweet Baby Ray's honey barbecue sauce and Sweet Baby Ray's honey mustard dipping sauce are the 2 things I won't substitute for cheaper products. I used to put together fruit for snacks for my son when he was little and I would do a homemade Chex mix as well. I'm so glad you shared your stories. I like hearing about people's lives After my below the knee amputation of my left leg, my home care nurse, PT and OT were amazed by my positive attitude and how well I was dealing with it that they all told me I should talk to other amputees. I haven't done that yet, but I think about it at times. I have my days where I cry about it, but I never let anyone see me cry. I don't feel sorry for myself. If I hadn't done it, I would be dead because the infection was slowly killing me. I can't be mad about doing something that saved my life. I cry for what I lost but I also am not a quitter, so I am going to get better with using my prosthetic leg. I was making jokes about getting half off on pedicures the day after my surgery. I also made a joke that I was now lack toes intolerant. LOL I also have a dark sense of humor.

I was listening to you talk about your daughter and her symptoms and my heart literally dropped. My daughter has all the exact symptoms also diagnosed with trachea Malaysia in the process of an upcoming sleep apnea study. She was on a tube majority of her life then the started to discuss a g tube which I didn’t agree that she needed . I’ve had to fight drs to even get the small diagnoses she has. She hasn’t gotten any better especially with the trachea Malaysia and the way she sounds and breathes while she sleep . She’s a year and 1/2 . She’s also struggled very badly with delay and she’s been 20 pounds since she was 9 months old. I would love to hear more about your daughters diagnosis to maybe bring it up to my daughters doctor and get to the bottom of the issue so my daughter can have some relief. I’m so amazed I came across your video and so glad your daughter is in better health ! Praying for your guys ❤️

After 43 years of working as a nurse I retired 4 years ago. Hearing your story was so inspiring. Like you I believe the Lord puts us where we are suppose to be at the right time. I worked in Physical Medicine Rehabilitation in the acute setting for most of my nursing career.

I've had undiagnosed or untreated depression over 1/2 of my life. Not that I didn't seek help. I just didn't receive it or get proper medicine for me. Having 2 kids that couldn't understand what was wrong with momma and I didn't know how to tell them was tough. I finally found a doctor that gave me a med that worked when my boys were in their 20s. They're both mid 30s and still don't understand, like me, why I couldn't have been more active with them when they were growing up. I asked that doctor to tell the other doctors what my kids lost. They basically grew up with an out of touch mother that couldn't function after working a fulltime job. I'm so glad you got help with your depression and your kids have you. You're a breath of fresh air! I do know how dark times can get. I'm fortunate to be here myself. Keep these great videos coming. Just need to make the music more in the background. 😉

She hasn’t gotten any better especially with the trachea Malaysia and the way she sounds and breathes while she sleep . She’s a year and 1/2 . She’s also struggled very badly with delay and she’s been 20 pounds since she was 9 months old. I would love to hear more about your daughters diagnosis to maybe bring it up to my daughters doctor and get to the bottom of the issue so my daughter can have some relief. I’m so amazed I came across your video and so glad your daughter is in better health ! Praying for your guys ❤️

After 43 years of working as a nurse I retired 4 years ago. Hearing your story was so inspiring. Like you I believe the Lord puts us where we are suppose to be at the right time. I worked in Physical Medicine Rehabilitation in the acute setting for most of my nursing career.

I've had undiagnosed or untreated depression over 1/2 of my life. Not that I didn't seek help. I just didn't receive it or get proper medicine for me. Having 2 kids that couldn't understand what was wrong with momma and I didn't know how to tell them was tough.
I finally found a doctor that gave me a med that worked when my boys were in their 20s. They're both mid 30s and still don't understand, like me, why I couldn't have been more active with them when they were growing up.
I asked that doctor to tell the other doctors what my kids lost. They basically grew up with an out of touch mother that couldn't function after working a fulltime job.
I'm so glad you got help with your depression and your kids have you. You're a breath of fresh air!
I do know how dark times can get. I'm fortunate to be here myself.
