I mean if you're following the actual timeline Prime isn't present and the timeline follows Metroid, Return of Samus, Super, Other M, Fusion and now Dread
@@FromBeyondTheGrave1 the trilogy is present in between Metroid 1 and 2. This has been confirmed by Nintendo multiple times, and was further corroborated in Samus Returns with the existence of Proteus Ridley. Don’t know why you thought they weren’t canon, but I’m here to clear things up.
The most disturbing thing about the X Parasites is just how similar they are to the alien in The Thing 1982. You’d never know who’s real or not. By the time you find out, you’re pretty much done for.
Everytime You see a X infection taking place, the host gets dissolved in seconds and the X parasite takes its place almost seamingly. The scariest aspect of X is not necessarily their ability to reproduce a host perfectly with all of its abilities, it's that infection is a 100% death guaranteed and both infection and duplication takes place in literal seconds, meaning that if an X is allowed to infect a planet, it can completely wipe it out in a matter of hours. It's exactly like in "The thing" were you can never suspect where an X may come from since they blend in perfectly in any ecosystem they are put in and completely replace and mimic any life form they absorb. You could be the last human on earth at the very end of the X wiping out your planet and you, likely, would never even know it until you're the last to be consumed. I just really like the fact that Samus Aran was the only living being we know of that survived and fought a prolonged X infection and this is, no doubt, not a coincidence. Her Chozo blood was obviously hugely responsible for the fact that she was able to fight off the X for hours, maybe even days. As a result, the Universe developed its own "immunity system" in the form of Samus Aran both having been the perfect person to be patient Zero and her being Patient Zero AND surviving being the reason why Space Fed was able to organize a plan to fight it. I'm glad Samus destroyed every single of them, because even scarier than the X was the revelation that the Space Fed planned to weaponize the X.
I would even argue the X are even more horrifying than The Thing. That thing could be eliminated with fire, sure it's easier said that done, but there's a pretty huge weakness of the thing. The X's ONLY weakness is Samus. And Samus is just a single person, if there was a single X on, say, Earth, Samus would probably not be able to arrive in time to stop it. The X are one of the most horrifying enemies on a piece of media ever, in my opinion. I hope we can see more of them (I have not beated Metroid Dread yet, so I don't know what happens, please don't give spoilers)
@@miguelpadilla5899here is something in Metroid dread I notice with the x parasite and one of it's x cores and that one falls into lava and we never see it rise out or come back so technically x parasite have another weakness in that being lava and if so then it's a reference to the thing and how the titular monster in that film is killed by fire and basically flammable stuff
Quiet Robe X was a kinda weird case. He was pretty much the same as ever even though he was infected. He set the Emmis free so Samus could awaken her Metroid powers prior to fighting Raven Beak, and saved Samus when ZDR was blowing up.
Fusion was my gateway into the Metroid series, the first game I ever played. I remember how young me used to be terrified of the SA-X, but I kept playing and getting better until I was eventually able to do a deathless run. Sadly, the cartridge was lost, but the memories live on. And yes, I didn't realize until the ending that Samus was a woman.
I always saw the X as something like The Thing. They’ll take creatures who naturally evolved on a planet, and use their abilities to their advantage while also having the ability to change the assimilated body to their liking. In other words that can explain why Ridley-X looks so different from Ridley in Super Metroid. They took Ridley’s body (or a clone of Ridley’s body, I mean it doesn’t really matter whether it’s a clone or not) and dumbed down the head, indicating a smaller brain, and buffed his claw size, mouth size and well size in general. All just to eliminate Samus, their only threat on that station.
You forgot that they can reproduce by splitting themselves. There wasn't only 1 SA-X but at least 11; one was destroyed with the secret lab and the other 10 were mentioned by Adam. With Dread, we got a comeback of the X and it's possible that we actually see the X again. Despite the destruction of Hanubia, there weren't any traces of the ships left, not even pieces of them. It might be possible that a few Chozo X managed to survive long enough to escape. Dread did a lot of work to keep the details like having Kraid's spike from the last attack staying until the X are freed. Once they're free, the spike disappeared which later returned as the Chimera-Raven-Beak X. That's why it might be possible that the ships actually left before the destruction. Letting the X evolve into some sort of sentient species would be interesting. Similar to the Replicators from Stargate evolved into the sentient human-form Replicators. The knowledge of Samus' existence and the source to sentient food might do the work for a new evolution of X
I hope prime 4 does something with the X parasites now that the source of phazon was (seemingly) destroyed. Samus needs a new overarcing threat and the space pirates need something new for them to attempt to weaponize. I'd like to see a plot that reveals that the X can actually feel what their hosts felt, but it normally gets overpowered very quickly by the X's primal instincts, with few "eXceptions" that manage to hold onto their identity separate from the rest of the X. These eXceptions would be seen as a threat to the entirety of the X "hivemind(?)", similarly to how the borg in Star Trek consider individuality a threat to the collective whole, and attack them. The following would be where the game would start post prologue, after reintroducing the X parasites and revealing that the metroid vaccine from metroid fusion is still in effect in prime 4. Early on, Samus would come across one of these "eXceptions" and attempt to further humanize it beyond being just an X Host that is being hunted by the other X, like how Samus didn't murder the infant metroid... So over the course of the game, you occasionally interact with this X Host that is aware it's infected, but attempts to keep itself in the form it took to prevent the X's biological imperative from taking over. Your part in all of this is genocide as usual, a contract by the GF to exterminate the X "once and for all". Since Samus is the only one immune to effects of the X, she is obviously capable. However, the existence of these eXceptions, in addition to her memories of exterminating the metroids, give samus pause when she realizes that history is repeating itself. It would even suggest that even some of the X are redeemable, putting the genocide into context and putting weight on figuring out how the eXceptions occurred. This would be where the space pirates likely make their proper appearance, using containment suits capable of resisting X infections initially, they'd be the main bad guys till the X infect most of them anyway, despite their preparations. During that time more eXceptions happen in the space pirate ranks, and these are promptly studied and weaponized into a new wave of adaptive trooper, one capable of using X shapeshifting to produce a wide array of attacks that the X have absorbed over the years, as well as being able to consume other eXceptions (live or dead) and X parasites to heal themselves. The ending for such a plot could go anywhere, but I personally like the idea that a humanoid eXception you save from the very beginning is somehow responsible for saving Samus at the end by directly helping Samus at a crucial point, and either sacrificing itself to finish off the other X, allowing itself to be reabsorbed in order to attempt to take over the whole X "collective", or otherwise stalling the X so Samus can get away (while Samus tries to find a way to save the eXception one last time, so they can escape together).
When I played Metroid Fusion for the first time, I had two chilling realisations. 1: To a normal human, a single X parasite is Death incarnate. The X cannot be harmed with conventional weaponry, requiring exceptional circumstances to destroy (I.E: Blowing up the planet/space station it's on!). And 2: Had Samus arrived at the elevator to Sector 1 even a few seconds later, the SA-X would've encountered and KILLED her. At that point in the game Samus would've had no method of harming it, whilst it could have frozen and blown her apart like a Metroid. Samus was lucky to avoid meeting it at that point by mere seconds. I know this may not seem all that staggering to you guys, but it really put things into perspective for me personally.
I have never left? Its just been a hectic couple of months for me, especially since I can only work on this on the side, but I post updates on Twitter/public discord server every once in a while. I blame part of the delay on the stuff I wanted to try out... and being obsessed with Xenoblade X and Elma
A friend of mine said that Nintendo did this idea twice with Fusion and Prime 2 because it’s the same concept with the X parasites and the Ing. All I said YOU’RE WRONG. The X parasites, emphasis on the parasite, infect a being, consume its DNA, and m then destroy the original host and mimic it. It’s prevalent with the X leaving the bones behind. They can even copy mechanical blueprints like the Varia suit. The Ing however can possess any host, biological and mechanical, for a set time then leave the host once it’s defeated. The Ing aren’t parasitic. They’re more ghostly creatures if you catch my drift.
I like to think they have more powerful copy power than we think, it can absorb organic biotics and organic machinery, yet it can recreate metallic machinery if it simply as an organic bit, recreating sci-fi hardware with countless data electronics far beyond our tech just because of some organic tissue. Hell, maybe they can replicate metallic tech if it's bloodstained.
Honestly I'm half thinking the X aren't actually back in Dread, that it was a lie to trick Samus to coming to the planet, since the game is about escaping to the surface. Wouldn't surprise me if as soon as the game begins you find out the X were never on the planet and Samus gets sent down to the core
Thing is Warlord Mcgee is Evil enough I could feasibly see them taking one single cell specimen and leaving, So many theories of mine have been thought up but Tl dr short of it is they are reviving species for bio weapons, From the last 2 trailers we have seen at least 2 Chozo the Warlord and the last Researcher from the 2D/10 imagine.
I just realized something terrifying the X could of done if slightly smarter (at least in lore a bit).. imagine the SA-X riding on the back of Neo-Ridely as Nightmare is there as "support" they.. would be nigh unstoppable
I remember playing this game so vividly and the only way to communicate this game to my non-gamer friends when I was older, was: "A bounty hunter chick has her identity stolen by a gummy snack, and then she goes around a space station eating those gummies and shooting baddies."
3:59 You what's funny about this? Dark Samus says that she's from "the future", but Metroid Prime 2 and 3 take place BEFORE Fusion. That means that the SA-X is, "from the future".
@@koburaorochi7276 Exactly because it should get a Remake and also technically Fusion is metroid 5 so it's better to stop asking for it and start asking for Metroid 6
Nice to see a lore video on Metroid Fusion. Metroid Fusion was my first Metroid game and is my favourite Metroid. If the SA-X is a heartless Samus, would that make Neo-Ridley an exact copy of Ridley personality wise, since Ridley is heartless and sadistic. Anyway, thanks for the video and have a nice day/night.
3:48 That would be hard. X-Parasites have a hard-coded hatred for Metroids in their DNA. Notice how in the Metroid Incubation Center, SA-X completely ignores Samus in favor of launching a suicide attack against the whole place or how, in the final battle, SA-X completely ignores a near dead Samus in favor of trying to kill the Omega Metroid? SA-X and Dark Samus teaming up might result in a tag-team similar to Galeem and Dharkon.
Honestly Dark Samus would probably team up with regular Samus before the SA-X, it seems to be more intelligent than the X and has literally been engineered to hunt them, where as regular Samus was more something "in the way" to it, it would instinctively, just due to it's genetics, view the SA-X as a larger threat (whether it actually was or not).
I think... dark samus and Sa-X would fight each other, since Dark Samus is essentially the metroid prime and Sa-X is the manifestation of the X-parasite
You should do a video on Phazon next. As a concept, Phazon has always fascinated me. I still remember my mind being blown when I discovered that Phazon was actually a living thing.
Same. It's like a perfect semi-horror idea that can't leave my mind. It's different from the avarage stuff like the flood from halo, the necromorphs from dead space, even tho it can maintain the same level of spookyness if written right. It acts like a fungus but made out of crystals, that can grow eating other materials and produce really bad stuff to ensure its survival. Makes you mad like the Marker, mutates you like a Resident Evil boss, can grow and survive anywhere, and it's really hard to destroy. Also has paranormal powers all over the place and can grow to galactic level threath if untreated, and people are also attracted by its power. It's the ultimate sci-fi evil, someone needs to follow this idea and bring it into a slightly different direction. Definetly should be an SCP entry.
@@WaveOfDestiny That's a good description of Phazon. I definitely agree with the comparison to fungus as well, it's almost like how some small organisms can for a "colony" to be considerably larger, but Phazon can literally become new organisms. It's so complex and crazy, but nearly everything about Phazon in the Prime series can be at least partially explained through scientific theory. I'm kind of fanboying here lol, but I just love Phazon as a concept and how it's presented.
Project Metroid Dread might of been indication were Samus engages in conflict with the Federation. Who actually knows if Yoshio was actually planning for Metroid 5 to be chronological from the previous game in the timeline, or possible it might of been prequel between 3 and 4? I have a Theory that Dread could be about be how Space pirates barrow its way into Federation politics and seeding its warfare into raging war against Samus. The game would be about how Samus destroys Space pirates (for good this time) and dethrone Galactic Federation(or shed light about on how it place galaxy in countless danger a couple times) Maybe that could be the reason why project was pulled, it doesn't have that same atmosphere as the others?
Thanks for noticing them (apparently no-one seemed to like them because I haven't gotten feedback on them) it a new style I am trying to implement into videos, maybe use them as visuals to explain how I Metroid Series could work or something.
Dark Samus can absorb energy from a certain distance, just like it shows absorbing phazon/phazite in the prime saga. And not forget it's a Metroid Prime. SA-X is an X full power from Samus after Super Metroid, but without hyperbeam. Metroid is X natural predator, and X is natural prey. Of course, it can absorb SA-X at any moment, range, and angle if it gets the chance. And if it absorbs it, I'll think it will recover some of its lost abilities as a Metroid Prime plus some extra armor plus extra weaponry like spazer, power bomb/charge beam combo. Imagine fighting that kind of boss in 2d, Dark Samus will be OP. Now imagine dealing in 1st person view. Or a combination of both like the other M. Can a modder try to do that kind of thing. That will be epic. And will give new ideas to the company.
I think Dark Samus would have difficulty defeating the SA-X. If Dark Samus is part-Metroid, the SA-X is equipped with the *Ice Beam* upgrade, which Metroids are highly susceptible to. They could then be easily destroyed with a *Super Missile,* which the SA-X is also seen using. Because of the vaccine in Fusion, Samus had some Metroid DNA in her genetic makeup which made her vulnerable to *extreme cold.* As a result, Samus couldn't confront the SA-X until she obtained the *Varia Suit* upgrade. Samus also had to acquire the *Plasma* and *Wave Beam* upgrades to pierce its armour, since the X was mimicking her at full power. Although Dark Samus has a lot of destructive power, I think the outcome would depend on whether or not Dark Samus would actually be affected by the *Ice Beam.*
Glad you enjoyed it, like I mentioned on the public discord/twitter the last months were really rough on me, but regardless i am constantly working on more stuff for you guys. Look forward to the 31st, you might have a little surprise....
Great video as always! Here is hoping some day the Metroid timeline can move forward and we can explore even more about them. I have a feeling the X arent exactly natural either.. Maybe someone was on SR388 even before the chozo?
So the X parasite can imitate any life form by infecting and overtaking the host, gaining its memories and powers to boot. It’s literally The Thing and anyone whose seen that movie understands how horrifying that is…considering the Metroid universe’s advanced interstellar travel.
I feel like it’s a plot hole, and is just an easy way to get samus back to normal at the end of the game. The X having any kind of compassion is never shown before that moment, and if the Chozo can control them, then why are they locked away as a danger? Why didnt Raven Beak do the same thing?
The X basically just act on instinct for the most part dont they? The way i viewed it was quiet robes instinct to save samus was so strong that it overpowered the X.
@@FlareFritz Not really, in Metroid Fusion the X show the ability to change behavior based on intelligence many times. They not only facilitate the self-destruct of the station to destroy Samus, but also react intelligently to Samus after her getting the Varia Suit (the cold core X parasites run rather than fight after that point), and they learn where Samus was getting her upgrades and attempt to download that upgrade data themselves. The X are consistently shown to have intelligence in Fusion, but are suddenly dumb and malleable in Dread, it's bizarre.
The X pirates could be a reference to the movie the Thing. In that movie an arctic exploring team uncovers an alien parasite that can take the form of any host they infect. Like a perfect clone, the only thing Is that it kills everyone. Like the famous stomach scene
@@Alex-mb2cy It aged well, but some factors haven't aged perfectly. The non-linearity of the game, the SA-X's ai, the SA-X and Omega Metroid final forms being joke fights. I don't need a full on remake as much as a just remaster touching up some things.
I dunno, when the Flood is at its infection-stage, they’re one to one with the X perhaps edging out with their perfect copy abilities. If the Flood reaches the Gravemind-stage, then it might be a different story.
@@Hyper_Drud The problem is that the X most likely share a hive mind by default (multiple of their actions in Fusion indicate this), and thus they don't even need a Gravemind equivalent. That plus their ability to assimilate potential hosts much more easily than the Flood gives them a considerable edge in my book. EDIT: Forgot about their asexual division and ability to process data organically. The Flood would hypothetically only get one (albeit heavily mutated) Samus, whereas the X had at least 10 copies of her in a matter of hours; consider also that given sufficient time, they could have had a literal army of Ridley clones, complete with all of his intelligence and knowledge of Space Pirate battle tactics. Basically the X are utterly terrifying and if the feds didn't move the infected Power Suit components away from their HQ, that would have been the end of galactic civilization for sure.
Zachary Damascus hmm, now the question is do the X leave the nervous systems of their hosts intact when they infect them. Can they also create their own when they mimic their host’s form? If so, the Flood win by assimilating the bodies of the X.
Have you covered the new suit on Metroid Dread? Cause I have a big question on it, it’s nothing bad I’m just wondering how did we get the new suit and why aren’t we using the the final suit from Fusion.
@@IrvingIV I wonder what would happen if one of those artificial Metroids that can survive the cold fused it's DNA with Ridley Would that effect him differently?

Well, technically Dark Samus is from the past as all three Prime games take place after Metroid 1/Zero Mission and before Metroid II: Return of Samus/Metroid: Samus Returns.
The SA-X later transforms into a human + hornroad monster for its final form, because it first imitated a hornroad at the beginning of the game, then later imitated the human Samus.
Which would be the bigger threat to universal life, the X parasite......or the Flood parasite?
@@miguelpadilla5899here is something in Metroid dread I notice with the x parasite and one of it's x cores and that one falls into lava and we never see it rise out or come back so technically x parasite have another weakness in that being lava and if so then it's a reference to the thing and how the titular monster in that film is killed by fire and basically flammable stuff
Dark Samus would probably have naturally attacked and attempted to consume SA-X, seeing as how dark Samus is kind of a Metroid.
Quiet Robe X was a kinda weird case. He was pretty much the same as ever even though he was infected. He set the Emmis free so Samus could awaken her Metroid powers prior to fighting Raven Beak, and saved Samus when ZDR was blowing up.
Someone else in this video's comments section suggested that some people might be capable of retaining their free will after being infected by the X.
Dark samus would try to eat the sax if anything. She is just a metroid prime with a phazon suit while the sax is just an X with a varia suit.
That "Into the Spider-Verse" reference... absolutely brilliant.
It was a thing before ITSV

Nice touch of adding MMBN's soundtrack in some of your videos. Love the way you explain the details, very creative!
"It's rather surprising that they only actually appear as an enemy in one game"
Hehehe, not anymore
This
Tldr, but Yeah I was thinking the same thing.
Metroid Prime just isn't Metroid Prime without phazon.
100%, this
your eXceptions is a fucking marvelous idea
Samus: I fear no man but that thing (SA-X) it scares me
Hello fellow tf2 fan
Woah a fellow TF2 fan and Persona fan.
It´s quite ironic that Samus herself is most dangerous enemy!

I blame part of the delay on the stuff I wanted to try out... and being obsessed with Xenoblade X and Elma
@@TheOrpheon Well that's great news. and I understand Elma struggles. But enjoy life you only have one, don't waste it on things you don't find fun
So, it's The Thing of the Metroid world / lore.
Welp enjoy an entire planet of X
Wouldn't Dark Samus "eat" SA-X? Since Dark Samus is technically a Metroid Prime.
Exactly.
I just realized something terrifying the X could of done if slightly smarter (at least in lore a bit).. imagine the SA-X riding on the back of Neo-Ridely as Nightmare is there as "support" they.. would be nigh unstoppable
Ho-ly shit
I remember playing this game so vividly and the only way to communicate this game to my non-gamer friends when I was older, was: "A bounty hunter chick has her identity stolen by a gummy snack, and then she goes around a space station eating those gummies and shooting baddies."

Dark Samus says that she's from "the future", but Metroid Prime 2 and 3 take place BEFORE Fusion.
That means that the SA-X is, "from the future".

That Ridley scream tho.. (;-;)
4:56: They would later see a return in Metroid Dread.
3:41 You really love that line, don't ya?
I adore it

I need an updated video now that Metroid Dread exists.
Also has paranormal powers all over the place and can grow to galactic level threath if untreated,
and people are also attracted by its power.
I have a couple of ideas for future videos, but as always I'll make a poll to see what you guys would like to see next
@@TheOrpheon hnmmmm i'd love to have you in the powerscale comunity/death battle comunity, there is not enough respect for Samus
Anyone still hoping for a metroid game that takes place AFTER Fusion? Maybe where she has to fight the federation for what she did in fusion?

Dark samus would actually would prey on s ax, as it was a metoid
I think Dark Samus would have difficulty defeating the SA-X.
If Dark Samus is part-Metroid, the SA-X is equipped with the *Ice Beam* upgrade, which Metroids are highly susceptible to. They could then be easily destroyed with a *Super Missile,* which the SA-X is also seen using.
Because of the vaccine in Fusion, Samus had some Metroid DNA in her genetic makeup which made her vulnerable to *extreme cold.*
As a result, Samus couldn't confront the SA-X until she obtained the *Varia Suit* upgrade.
Karateka95 doesn’t dark Samus have a varia suit too

Great video as always! Here is hoping some day the Metroid timeline can move forward and we can explore even more about them. I have a feeling the X arent exactly natural either.. Maybe someone was on SR388 even before the chozo?
Well in something like the Metorid universe I guess anything is possible
So the X parasite can imitate any life form by infecting and overtaking the host, gaining its memories and powers to boot.
It’s literally The Thing and anyone whose seen that movie understands how horrifying that is…considering the Metroid universe’s advanced interstellar travel.
Curious how silent robe X in dread kinda kills the argument of being merciless and heartless killers

Yes, because it needs no remake, it aged quite well. It needs a story sequel
@@Alex-mb2cy
It aged well, but some factors haven't aged perfectly. The non-linearity of the game, the SA-X's ai, the SA-X and Omega Metroid final forms being joke fights. I don't need a full on remake as much as a just remaster touching up some things.

Re: title
They are very, very, VERY bad news.
The Flood from Halo? X Parasites make them look tame.
@@Hyper_Drud The Flood assimilating the X is a scary thought indeed >.
