I'm impressed. You didn't have to stop and let the motor catch up. You didn't take 1/2 row swipes. You didn't have to walk slow to keep the motor from stalling. All on long grass. That's amazing. Seems like lots of walk behind mowers are going with less and less cc's, nice to see one with over 200. Great video. Thanks.
This is definitely worth it for me! Every regular mower I have ever owned will bog down and need to be cleared within 15 minutes of mowing. This is a game changer, Dan!
It sure is! Very impressive
@@DansVlog That 209 cc vertical shaft engine is strong. That grass was pretty tall and thick & you could hear the power of that motor. How's that oil level doing during break in cycle? Lot's of people don't know that the break in oil should be changed within 5 hours on most engine manufacturers. I always change my first oil at approximately two hours. I like to be on the safe side & get all of the break in shavings out immediately..... Thanks Dan👍
Thanks Dan! I'm just about follow you and order this mower. Been 2 yrs since I moved into my first house and I feel empowered. Thanks brother
Heck ya! Great mower
I bought one bout 3 months ago and we'll pleased with it 👍👍🤠
Awesome!!
Surprisingly good performance from that thing. Impressed!
Yeah man, hands-down the best performing small disposable mower I’ve ever used. Definitely worth considering.
What a great review! I’m sure consumers would look over this!! Price point is well worth it!!!!!
I think so too!
I am right now. Glad I stumbled across this vid. I'm sold.
Just bought one and needed this cuz my yard a mess like dis and I’m boutta cut it in a bit. Boutta walk thru my yard loke this. Thank you 🙏🏽
Good luck my friend, let us know how it goes
I bought my sister one of these fore her birthday and I'm so glad I did ,works great.
Shockingly powerful
Mower made it look like nothing! Love seeing the 🐐 back sharing lawn care videos! 🤙
Thank you!
I just ordered this thing and now looking at reviews on Amazon i have 10 people tell me not to buy it . I asked a question bc the reviews were so bad and I got 10 answers telling me not to spend a dollar on it . Dan I trust u and love ur videos I hope I didn’t buy a lemon
Just received my powersmart today. I got it at Walmart for $209. Read the reviews and seems only bad thing about this mower is the handle and plastic can crack making the handle move all the way forward. So I'm also installing washers and zip ties for the extra support.
Great idea
Well I'm sold! Im buying one you convinced me!
This video speaks for this mower!! Super impressive lol
I have the same mower and the Powersmarts actually have a really good Chinese knockoff engines with a lot more power more than most other lawn mowers of a similar price. That mower will power through the craziest thickest weeds and grass and not stop! Sometimes Chinese products are good and this engine is one of those. However the Achilles heel of that mower is everything else on it besides the engine and carb which is excellent. The plastic parts are concerning especially the bracket that holds the handle to the deck. This mower likes to shake a lot so you have to check the bolts from time to time especially on the handle. As long as you dont beat on it hard and do the proper maintenance and storage this mower should last a long time.
I agree completely!
I sometimes use a little loctite on both like that....
@Dan's Vlog (Dan is the man with the Plan)🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Excellent video and thank you for sharing. Your attention to detail is excellent & shows in your videos. Just watched the video of the horizontal shaft & ring and pinion style gear with belt drive.....
I must say it looks very impressive & a unique design.
Thank you!
Thats crazy man! My Honda push mower would have bogged like crazy in that grass.
Yup. Mine too!
I’m just about sold on this mower but my only problem is where would you find parts for the motor like the carb ect. Thanks Dan!
Powersmart web- customer service. Also keep in mind, the parts that make this mower are not manufactured Specifically for only this mower. These parts are interchangeable with lawnmowers snow blowers tillers and all types of different machines. A simple part number search will pull up many vendors
It cuts good,I did not know it has been 4 weeks since you was there, it seems like just a week ago,now the back yard.
He can not afford 50 every 2 weeks and I don’t mind working a little harder to help him out
Dan. Have you done a video on how older men like us can do this for a side hustle? Or even fulltime! I'm so tired working for some one else and them taking all the credit. I'm 52yrs old but I'd love to do this for my remaining time on earth lol
I have a ton of videos teaching how to run this as a side hustle/full time work. From my main page… Click on “Playlists“ and pick your interests
I have been doing lawns as a side hustle for 12 years now and LOVE it. I am now 60 and love the fresh air and exercise. I work indoor in an Office / Casino setting and it's pure freedom working outside. I have done the same properties for entire the time and have them so dialed in I could do them with my eyes closed. Great extra $$ too.
An interesting strategy by this new startup co. 209cc is pretty damn big for a push mower, so we know its got tons of torque. On top of that, its got that .75 gear reduction. I`d imagine it would go through anything. It also appears that this thing is designed and manufactured in Itasca Illinois. If I can verify that to be true, I'm getting one!
It literally just did!!! Lol
I thought it came from China?
Afternoon sweet tea and a Dan video....that's what I am talking about!!!
Lol tell me this mower isn’t amazing!
@@DansVlog it sure is and if you are impressed it's gotta be a good machine
Daaaamn that thing is impressive. I bought a toro at Home Depot that wants to bog down when the grass is a little tall never mind tall and thick like that. Any time I had to do anything like that, I had to do half passes with the blade set all the way up and it still wanted to bog down.
This beat the crap out of my old Toro, Honda, Snapper and Troy Bilt. Hands down best small mower in thick tall grass I have ever used
Time will tell. It will be interesting to see if any issues show up.
Very true!
Excellent mower for mulching Dan
I agree
Holy Cow, Batman... you did it again 😀. Thanks for the very informative video and enjoyment while I ate my breakfast. I am glad I had a short meal because this was a quickie 😜
Thank you!
Is the self propelled just one speed or can you just squeeze the handle a little bit to walk slower?
It is one speed but you can “slip” the belt if you only half squeeze it where you need to slow down
I've been trying to figure that out myself I wish they'd give some input on that mine goes way too fast I don't want to run I don't want to run with it. W T F.....
That mower is a real sleeper.
It looks like every walk behind mower at any of the big box stores but is absolutely amazing.
Honda makes great mowers but I’m real sure none of those would perform like that under those conditions.
That lawn was quite overgrown and that mower never stumbled.
When I was kid living at home we had a 2 stroke lawn boy.they were pretty badass little mowers but nothing like that power smart.
I was literally smiling out of pure amazement
That’s really impressive 👍
I NEVER mowed such a crappy lawn with this much ease. A pure pleasure to knock this jungle down
@@DansVlog definitely something I’m considering for my business! Great Video Dan.
I looked up this mower and all I see are bad reviews. Your demo was impressive though.
I pay no attention to reviews unless they have video evidence and even then… do THEY know what they are doing? But that’s just me! 😂
@@DansVlog I know some reviews are bogus. I could really use a mower like that though. I have five customers that I actually have to put a push mower on. I could really use the 209cc that mower has. I have to find somewhere around here to get one.
@@jeffdc66 Where are you located?
@@DansVlog Anniston, Al
@@jeffdc66 You can Amazon it. I link to their Amazon store. They have other options as well as this one.
Hey Dan quick question about pressure washing. I know you say 10% sh is perfect for everything, well I’m the guy who always comments regarding the 2.5gpm Simpson pressure washer with siphon hose straight to 10% sh but i wanted to ask since the water and sh ratio is low due to my small pressure washer would it be better to move up to 12% sh or would you recommend I stay at 10%
The question I have for you is, what is “better”? Will 12.5% give you better flexibility to spray hotter and clean faster? Yes. Is that better? Not sure. Stronger recipes burn grass and plants.
Is it better to thin 12.5% in a bucket then siphon it which will save you money? Yes. Is that better? I guess so if ya got a lot of work lined up and need to stretch out material. Would I get 12.5%? Nah. Too hot for me. The 10% is what I am comfortable with but that’s just me.
I’ve had similar luck out of my Toro PT21
Sweet
When I had my Murray push mower I had to keep replacing the pull starter constantly
Ya that happens
how does this compare in power to the Honda HRX 217 200cc model as far as power which is stronger?
I have a Honda HRX217VKA. I have used it in my side hustle for the last two seasons in Central Florida. Got a call to cut a yard where the grass was 2 to 3 feet high. The Honda could not do the job. Stalled several times. I was told that the Honda machine I use could handle that yard. I'm retired senior trying to augment my SS income. I took the Honda to a shop and was told it just doesn't have power like the PowerSmart .My Honda machine does not have a side discharge which I think is essential for a good mower. How would you rate the Power Smart against the HRX217VKA? After watching this video and seeing the price for a PowerSmart compared to what I paid for the 217VKA, I am thinking seriously about buying a Power Smart. Another question is how many cutting seasons will a PowerSmart last? Thanks for your excellent videos they really help a lot !!
There is no way of knowing the life cycle of the Powersmart or any mower. Depends on how it is used, maintained and how often. I would choose Powersmart over the Honda. It did an amazing job and very inexpensive. I can buy 3 Powersmart mowers over the coarse of the next 7-10 years if needed and still be less expansive than 1 Honda that will be beat up and needing belts, wheel bearings etc.
@@DansVlog Thanks Dan you are very wise. Question: Does this mower come with a mulch plug?
Hey Herb! Did you buy one after all? I'm 52 and seriously thinking about doing this as a side hustle like you do.
It's funny yours will cut stuff like that because the one I've got want cut surprised that your belt hasn't broke yet or the back wheel has broken yet didn't even gotten half my yard mowed with one that isn't self-propelled and have had a broken belt and wheel so far so wouldn't waste your money on one
There will always be a bad one or 2 for every tens of thousands sold. Guess you got lucky. It's like this with all brands unfortunately.
Looks good how often are you having to clean the belt guard out.??
I’ve never cleaned a belt guard out ever in my life!
@@DansVlog really wow
@@Grahams-Grass I have scraped out a deck or 2 but never had to remove the belt guards. Just lucky I guess… or maybe just neglected proper maintenance 🤣
I would still take the time master over that mower any day specially with the side discharge it mows much finer cut and more professional luck but it’s not meant for big tall grass like that it’s meant for weekly maintain lawns so it saves a lot of time with the 30 inch versus 21 but for the price it’s not a bad more because the time cutter and the Exmark is a little over 2000 dollars
The Toro Timemaster was a POS. I bought one in March of 16 and quickly sold it for 1/2 price in one month. It wouldn’t barely cut southern grass even a quarter the height of this lawn. I know some weirdos take this crap personal like they buy a time master and think it’s their child and get insulted but I’m sorry bro, the Toro time master isn’t worth $300. I would rather have a troy Bilt 20 inch which is what I ended up getting an using for years
You are going to mulch? what that means? tx
Dan, I'm considering getting a mower like this because I have cypress knees that keep coming up in my lawn. The St. Augustine grass is so thick I generally can't see them. Unfortunately the last time I hit one, it was bad. I bent the crankshaft on my engine, sheared the flywheel key and destroyed the blade, blade adapter and broke the blade bolt off in the crankshaft. I have some mobility difficulty so I can't walk very fast, and could not keep up with the pace at which you were mowing. The mower I have has 6 travel speed settings and I usually mow in 1 or maybe 2 if its a good day. That is pretty slow traveling. Does this mower have any way to adjust the travel speed? If it does, it seems like it would be perfect my lawn. Thanks for your help.
There is no speed adjustment.
@@DansVlog Thank you.
@Wendell Voisin I'm not positive on this. However I do believe they make one that is a walk behind and not self propelled??? I
Might have seen it on a different mower I'm not sure. Some lawn mowers have both & not sure on this model??? @Dan's Vlog may
Know, or maybe you could just push it and not use the self propelled if it pushes easy without???
@@DansVlog They do have this model in both self-propelled and Push model. The push mower is a little less expensive and I think they have several colors to choose from? It's 209cc horizontal shaft design as well. They have the 144 CC & 170cc as well as a
200cc but they are vertical shaft. I'm impressed more with the 209cc 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
209cc vertical shaft engine because of power & The guy with the original question got answered.... ROFLMAO ( Thanks Dan)👍
One advantage of that style mower is you probably don't have to worry about bent crankshafts because the blade belt will probably just slip if you hit something immovable.
Ya know! I was thinking that as well. Great minds…
Probably just shear the unobtainable pinion gears .
Would you take this mower over the Honda HRX 217 mower?
Yes cause I can buy 2 of them for the price of 1 Honda
They don’t sell the 209cc anymore
What's the runtime with that engine.
7 minute mile
Omg Dan! Lol
I say crapola all the time and el trashola
Lol!
Im curious to know how many blades are under the mower?
One 21 inch blade
Wow! That’s makes the mower even more impressive that it didn’t stall once!
What fuel do you use for this mower?
87 octane
Grass wet or dry from the rains?
Dry to the touch but full of moisture
That was impressive, mine would die mulching that tall......
Yes sir!
Well I did the math and then comes out to a 15 horsepower engine no wonder it doesn't stop
15HP? Geez, that's impressive
Regular gas ok
Yes it is
Only down fall is sure it’ll go thru anything but you’re going to eventually wear the gear box out. This is why direct drive is way better. I’d rather have the mower stall out as last me fifty years then have that mower give me 2 years of abuse and then stop working from the fear box being shredded up
What mower are you going to buy today for under $300 that you think will last 5 years let alone 50? All mowers under $400 are home owner disposable mowers ya use for 3-5 years then replace. You think a new $800 Honda or Snapper or Whatever is going to last 10 years without throwing parts on it? Belts, wheels, bearings, transmissions etc?? Lol Come on man… stop overthinking it man.
@@DansVlog I still use my fathers lawn boy 2 stroke mower from the 70s. I recently just put brand new rings in it after like 50 years. Still solid
@@jonnysnipes3123 Congratulations. One has nothing to do with the other. Never compared this mower to your dads or anyone else’s
That is true , this mower is a piece of junk !! Over engineered , and soft , but to each his own !!
Yes it cuts well but the real question is how long is it going to last? It’s a power smart they are not known for reliability
Neither is Troy Bilt, MTD, Craftsman and other low end mower but they seem to last for years and years as I demonstrate with 3 seasons of use (80 yard business) on less costly mowers. Look at it this way. You can buy 3 of these (1 every 4 years) and still save money over a $800 or even a 650 high end mower that will be worthless in 4-5 years unless you spend money replacing parts that WILL wear out.
@@DansVlog nah I’m more worried about the deck on this thing falling apart from normal use because that’s how it usually go with these cheap off brand lawn mowers. I wouldn’t event trust the engine in this thing Briggs & Stratton or Honda engines never die. But time will tell I would like for you to keep using this mower and see how it holds up about a year from now
@@khalilt6508 You do you.
@@DansVlog I just have bad experiences with cheap mowers that’s all, that’s why I’m so skeptical but that doesn’t mean it’s a bad mower. If my main one breaks down I’ll probably try this one out
My Mac Allister MLMP550SP46-M&S 140cc would have Stopped
Lol everything I ever owned would have stopped
This lawn mower is Amazing!
Agreed!
How is it holding up?
Great so far. I mow my lawn every week!
Does anyone know what spark plug replacement to use for this mower? I can't seem to find information on plug replacement.
