New Optare Metrocitys First Day of Service on Route W11

- Today is the first day of Switch Optare Metrocitys on the Route W11. These Optare Metrocitys consist of USB Charging spots,a mini ibus display,TfL Moquette and CCTV Cameras. This batch of Switch Optare Metrocitys were ordered last year for the Route W11.
Route W11 is operated by Stagecoach London out of their Walthamstow Avenue[AW] garage. With the peak veichle requirement being 9.
The allocation is now New Switch Optare Metrocitys 9.5m. The allocation before used to be Alexander Enviro 200 MMCs 9.7m.
The length is 4.5 Miles[7 KM]. The W11 starts at Walthamstow Central and ends at Chingford Hall Estate via South Grove,St James Street,Blackhorse Road Station,Higham Hill and Crooked Billet. The frequency is 12-15 Minutes.
On 27 August 2022, the route was included in the sale of the HCT Group to Stagecoach London.
On 2 March 2024, the route was retained by Stagecoach London.
On 8 June 2024, brand new Switch Mobility MetroCity EVs were introduced alongside the existing Enviro200 MMC bodied Alexander Dennis E20Ds.
The route will convert to a full Switch Mobility MetroCity EV operation from June 2024.

Nice one roly! The IBus is small, now Blackhorse Road roll’s somehow. I’ve been on these for the first time and they disappoint, in the heat they make you sweat epsacilly 67016. I like the HCT livery tho. They’re pretty bad for turning on Rowan Avenue tho.

I been on the W11’s from Walthamstow Stadium to Walthamstow Central. Long journey tho! BTW, will W16 get them???
The 397 and W16 has been put up for early tender, so this means that IF stagecoach do keep both the 397 and W16, they will be using new electrics and these Metrocities will most likely be the new allocation as my garage likes to be boring and have the same allocations.
Bearing in mind, both the 397 and W16 if Stagecoach do lose them, then Go Ahead and Arriva could potentially take them.

@@hokuuniko in the video, some drivers kept hiding their faces because they thought that Roly was recording them. it's a brand new bus on the route therefore it's unreasonable for the drivers to expect people not to record it or take a photo
My question is what will happen to the MMCs?
Hopeully they go to the W19s cause they're still using e200s in 2024
The MMCs were meant to go to 309 and there’s no reason to put them on W19 because the E200s it uses are only 8

Some of them has already gone to the 309 but the 309 may also get other spares, as the W12 will get the same buses as the W11S and the E200 MMC may be temporary for W12.
The W12s route is also changing meaning it will no longer go to Wanstead and Walthamstow Village, this means longer buses like the E200MMCs will be available to be used on W12 until their new electrics arrive
