    I get 15 round mags too. I wish hexmag or magpul made mags just the size they need to be rather than modified 20 or 30 round mags. I tried the e-lander 15 round steel mags. They're heavy and not as reliable for me as the plastic mags. Keep up the good work.

    I think it’s a good little belt whether it’s just used by itself or with a plate carrier it’s a nice simple little belt to have fun with or to get some good training in. Overall I think the belt is pretty neat

    Nice belt setup! Mine is very similar. I went with a Blue Alpha Gear base belt and lately have been using a slim belt pad from HSGI instead of the inner belt. I've also got a T-REX dump pouch which is cool in that it has its own strap to keep it from bouncing around but takes up more space on the belt. I've been looking at the flatline fiber co pouch to reduce the amount of space needed.

    I always subscribed to the idea that the IFAK on my belt or chestrig/ pc is for folks to work on me and the TQ is for me to work on me.
    As a medic, why not run a larger CRO fanny pack with dual TQs that you can run additional to your gun belt that has a more compact belt IFAK that a non medic would use to stop the bleed on you
    Just my worthless 2 pennies.

    Any recommendations for glove pouches/if they should be a thing at all? I’m a volunteer first-aid attendant (applying for my Primary Care Paramedic), and during events I usually get called to a lot of minor cases. My current solution is cramming a bunch of gloves in my cargo pocket, but I’m looking for a more elegant solution that doesn’t involve me spilling a bunch of gloves onto the ground.

    Nobody seems to carry the things I deem important. Tegaderm, Benadryl, Super Glue and a suture kit. Any thoughts on those? I learned to suture on RUclips for surgery on our chickens.
    Thanks, great video!

    • @PrepMedic
      @PrepMedic  Год назад +5

      So a lot of people have a skewed perception of what sutures are for. They are not a bleeding control intervention, they are to close up a wound to reduce scarring and infection. They are rarely done by prehospital providers anywhere in the US simply because they are not life saving. Super glue also isn’t life saving and can actually be detrimental. Benadryl might stop itching but that’s it, it has never and will never save a life in the case of severe allergic reaction. And finally a tegaderm is just a flimsy bandage you could potentially put over a suture site or an IV to prevent infection but ultimately it isn’t a life saver

    • @margodphd
      @margodphd 10 месяцев назад

      For bigger kit - Adrenaline/epinephrine, Naloxone (narcan), surgical glue, steri-strips, nasal airway and large container of sterile saline + sutures and locking clamps ...besides a giant a b c d rated fire extinguisher for car. It's expensive, but with hybrid/ electric car fires, necessary. Sutures are viable option to tie off a bleeding ( visible vessel), but I guess someone without medical education shouldn't even try attempting either this or even surgical airway. Probably even soft silicone nasal airway in hands of panicked civilian could end up badly. Sterile saline is great for rinsing eyes in case of injury.

    I was extremely disappointed in the bison belt. It’s very flimsy compared to something like a blue alpha or ronin. The molle is made of a much weaker nylon fabric rather than webbing and the inner belt is absolute trash. It’s literally just a strip of loop with a fabric backing. To me it’s worth half what it costs. This is coming from someone who has an fcpc and loves it.

    ah the old "15 round mag" it would be a shame if you took the bottom off and cut the piece that blocks it to make it only take 15.... I hate mags that do this but most are made to be cut or bent off.. 2 of my mags are this way because 30 round is legal in my state but the city i live in wont let companies like acadamy sell them

      Having a few on your belt line is nice in case you have to reload while in the prone, your not laying on the mags your trying get to.

    • @PrepMedic
      @PrepMedic  Год назад +2

      1. I don’t always wear a vest at the range and I like to be able to practice reloads
      2. Reloading from your belt is much easier and faster then plate carrier
      3. Just because you have the pouch doesn’t mean you NEED to fill it
      4. It gives more capacity for a full “combat loadout” of mags
