  • Checking out from stress is checking out from the things you care about.
Stress only occurs when we care about something.
We shouldn't aim to cope with or rid ourselves of stress.
We should aim to leverage it to help us improve what we care about.
Stress is nonspecific; it's a natural part of life that occurs in all of us with ease, and we don't have to learn to do it.
We were born programmed to create stress.
We were not born programmed to regulate it in today's society.
We must learn to leverage stress to move forward in the direction we want our lives to go.
Stress is a signal of information.
As a society, we've mastered suppressing this signal.
This only creates new problems and more stress, reducing our personal and professional performance and causing feelings of not getting results.
My clients start working with me by thinking:
    - something is missing
    - they're not doing enough
    - they can't improve their circumstances.
Quickly, in our work together, they learn they are spreading themselves too thin and attempting to do all of the things, most of which are not important.
They discover fear and lack of clarity with their value system is what's fueling them to the verge of burning out from the stress and distractions.
Once we get them clear on what matters most and equip them to leverage stress to their advantage, they get to experience elevated levels of empowerment:
    - energy
    - focus
    - momentum
    - ability to improve
    - and fulfilment.
P.S. To get out of undesirable circumstances, we must go inside the mind and body to sort out what's going on and learn how to improve our situation.

"Not my monkeys, not my circus" is my go to anytime I'm stressed about anything (usually out of my immediate control). Having survived a brain tumor also helps with putting "stressful" things in perspective. Glad to see you're doing well.

Thanks for sharing and that's what's helped me: both overcoming multiple brain tumors as well as choosing to believe "what's theirs is theirs, what's mine is mine." I do know that when I get stressed, and it's not about things I don't care about, it's because I am focused on how it affects me, which I do care about. This awareness is what's helpful for me and I am glad we share a similar choice in mindset.
