Dr Dray recommended that Aveeno Calm and Restore line in a video. The moisturizer wound up on her best of 2020 video. She basically said if you have skin of any kind, that moisturizer is good.
I wish you and your incredible knowledge would have been around 20 years ago, when I struggled with debilitating rosacea! I tried all kinds of meds from my dermatologist, but IPL was what cured it. I have the Faustina now as well, and am really liking it so far
Aveeno sells oat bath packets. I wash my face with just the oat packets, changed my skin... I mix some of the powder with water rub it on my face and rinse it off. Gentil, doesn't dry out my skin, and I have noticed fewer breakouts from acne and rosacea.
I am half way through my second container of the Aveeno Calm and Restore moisturizer and I absolutely love it, it really feels much more luxurious than the price point would make you think it is. Also as someone with very oily skin it’s the first gel moisturizer I’ve found that feels nice, actually moisturizes and doesn’t leave a film on the skin. I have the Naturium Azelaic Acid serum and it is a holy grail product for me, it also contains niacinamide. I also just used for the first time today the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Hydrating Serum and it the ingredient list is amazing colloidal oats, feverfew, licorice, aloe, peptides, green tea, Hyaluronic acid, panthenol and it feels great on the skin and absorbs really well.
Oh my gosh! You don't know how glad I am that you just posted this! I am all ears when you talk about acne. I am 35 with hormonal acne and PIH 🤦🏼♀️ Also very very sensitive due to Tretinoin 😩 Thank you always for your amazing content! Love from the 🍑 state!
Thank you so much, Penn!! I am 66, and am a new subscriber. I have learned SO much from your videos and website! I also love MaryEllen’s channel! You both look absolutely fantastic!! I have much sun damage from my youth, and am a little late to the game, but so happy to find you and learn about all these wonderful products, gadgets and treatments! Bless you for all that you do for all of us! Another great, informative video! 💞
I have the tinted Cerave spf and I love it. Elta MD makes a tinted mineral sunscreen (spf 44) that is amazing. The textures of these are so elegant. I love tinted spfs because of the extra protection and because it evens out my skin tone. Add a bit of powder and I’m set for the day. 😊 Thank you so much for covering this topic. A lot of people ask me for skincare to help fight redness. Also I have some redness and I’ve been trying to figure out what it is. My daughter has some redness too that I think is rosacea. We are both going to the dermatologist to get more info. So much to learn and I so appreciate you. I can’t believe that you tune just recommended your video today. They should know you’re my fave! I hope you have a fantastic week.
hi penny , for my rosacea i use ISIS METRORUBORIL that contain 15% azelaic acid , it calm my skin right the way, thanks for sharing all your tips with us
hi everyone ,if anyone else wants to discover driving anxiety try Debuncar Fearless Drive Aid (do a google search ) ? Ive heard some decent things about it and my work buddy got cool results with it.
Hi! Thank you for this video. I was treated by a derm for years with peels and harsh acne treatments that didn’t help at all...then years later was diagnosed with rosacea by a different derm who explained that acne treatments can be the worst for rosacea! One of my go-to soothing treatments is just a dollar general green tea bag with a disposable sheet mask. I let the mask soak in the same green tea infused water and get a whole week out of it. Super cheap and does wonders to relieve my redness
Glad I watched this though, always something helpful in every video, was thinking of getting the my skin buddy but thinking about this device instead. My pores are in need of serious help and this thing could really be helpful for those too:)
Going through a profoundly stressful time, the masks just aggravate my skin, and I can literally feel redness in my cheeks as I watch this. Love, love that Beta Glucan and azelaic acid -- must dig that out! Thank you, always, for so many nuggets.
I don't know how you do it all. I look forward to seeing you on RUclips. I'm also in your Facebook group, and I get email for your Vlog. I don't know why you don't ever look exhausted. Thanks Penny!
Yes Sulphur definitely helped the rosacea related pustules ... Did not help calm the overall redness. ... Edited to add that Murad has an effective sulfur product for rosacea related acne.
Hi Penny I have rosacea and have been trialling different things to treat it for a few years. The OTC Azelaic acids available have some issues re texture (I will look at the touch one shown as I haven't tried that one), so many people may prefer the commonly used azelaic acid derivative eg GOW azelaic acid and the Geek and Gorgeous Apad (the Apad is my current fave) as they have very pleasant serum textures. They do work in a very similar way and I get redness reduction from them. I have the ingredients mentioned in my skincare routine apart from sulphur, as I have type one rosacea (without pustules). Prebiotics and propolis can be helpful with redness/rosacea and are very soothing, Another sheet mask rescue remedy I like is the Benton centella rescue sheet mask, which really takes down redness and inflammation during a flare. If tolerated (and it took a lot of patience and building up slowly) retinoids can help by strengthening the skin and I have seen a big improvement using them. I have chronic redness with visible blood vessels, but without papules/pustules. I did have a lot of textural issues on the skin of my nose and surrounding cheek area - tretinoin has helped with that immensely. I also get "dry eyes" and have to be careful in case I cause a flare of my eyes. I developed rosacea during perimenopause (my mum has it too), so I knew what it was and got a quick diagnosis. I started where I did at OTC azelaic acid (rather than prescription), as I wanted to leave the higher strengths for later as it a chronic condition. I also take an oral medication to reduce flushing at a currently low dose. There are many things the medical community can offer, but there are definitely things we can do ourselves to help. Unlike most of the skincare advice on youtube, my best advice is BE GENTLE with your skin. Stop the physical exfoliants and strong chemical exfoliants, be super cautious with low ph vitamin c products and start super slowly with retinoids. We'll always get quicker aging from constant inflammation, than any of these things can address. Once your skin is calmer you can add in some anti aging with much better tolerance. Best wishes.
I LOVE the Aveeno Oat Line. It has been really calming on my skin and the wash never leaves my skin feeling dry! I am going to try a few other tricks for some neck redness I can't clear up! Thanks!
Hi Penny. Hoping you might be able to address this in your next Q&A. At 54 I’m throwing a lot of actives at my face. In my evening routine I alternate nights between Copper Peptides and Avene Retinaldehyde. Every night I follow both with TNS Essential Serum Which has Tetrahexydecyl Ascorbate in it. I’m worried it may decrease the effectiveness of the copper peptides. Does this vit c derivative interfere with copper peptides? Also super confused as to when to apply all my lovely K-Beauty essences and toners in my morning routine. I use LLA, wait 15 minutes, then Paula’s Choice BHA Resist, wait 5 minutes, then Dr. Sam’s Brightly (Azaleic Acid, Niacinamide, Bakuchiol, ascorbyl glycoside). I’ve been using my essences and toners after all the actives are dry. Does this make sense? I know I should probably simplify things. Thanks so much for your help. Love your channel!
Just came over from Anne channel!!!... I love her, too!!!... I agree with everything you say about, Anne!!!.. thank you for a great video and collaboration!... please do more with Anne!!!!... going to subscribe to your channel!...thank you so much!!!💜💜💜💜💜💜
what a super complete video that treats this problem from all angles! I have sensitivity to many products, this is miracle video for me. I do have a tip for SPF for most sensitive of skins: Nivea Sensitive Face 50+ , even dermatologist recommended. I will try out your recommendations. Thanks so much!! Jolina
I agree with most of your advices except for the Faustina-it has help a little (maybe a 20% reduction of small blood capillaries)-the improvement to my skin is hardly visible and I am still a compliant user. Another device that is somewhat helpful is the infrared/red light mask. Yet after lockdown I will visit my dermatologist to have the remaining capillaries treated. The Paula’s Choice azelaic acid worked wonder for me.
The at home devices are definitely no where near as strong as in office and unfortunately everyone is different. I wish it worked out better for you! 💜
Thank you so much for this video Penny! I never had issues with redness until about 3 years ago and now it’s just constant. I went and saw 2 dermatologist and got 2 different answers 🤷♀️ but both prescribed meds that didn’t work! Plus being in menopause doesn’t help! 🥵 I will definitely try your recommendations! Have a great week beautiful ❤️❤️
Redness and stuborn PIE Here 🙋♀️ Have not watched it yet but I liked and am comment ing because i have been waiting (not so patiently 🙈) for this topic ❤️
Great video Penny! I ordered the Faustina and looking forward to using it as it get really great reviews. FYI - I was able to order the DRMTLGY suncreen! Also, I will visit Anne's channel as a favor to you because you are so wonderful!!
You are too sweet! I just got my Faustina back out to do a hair removal test on a volunteer. I am so excited! It made me revisit the results from last year of a friend’s broken capillaries. Not only did I get some clearance of hyperpigmentation with the Faustina but she got reduced facial redness and broken capillaries. I’m super excited for you to try out that device!
@@PENNSMITHSKINCARE I've been microneedling regularly for 6-7 months and I use the Queen 7 serum along with some other good products. The ONLY thing left is my broken capillaries--it's the only skin problem I haven't targeted. I've had good results with spa IPL treatments and hoping this at-home device is a success! The reviews are really great.
I use the azeliac acid from naturium. It’s a serum and not a lotion. I like it better and it’s does fine with my makeup. Cos de baha has one too.( I use the rosacare from procure when I’m inflamed)
Thank you so much for your generosity in sharing so much knowledge with us. I have learned a lot since subscribing a little while ago. I am particularly interested in a video demonstrating micro needling for hair growth (I just watched 2 earlier videos by you, but not a specific dedicated video demonstrating it). If you do have one already out, would you please link it? Thanks so much again & God bless!
Thank you miss,Anne send me to you.She is great sweet and the best. You are so right miss.I have rosacea bad.So thank you,and i have someone to watch on my you tube.
Hi Penny, great information thank you. I have rosacea type 2 with pustules. Sore, ugly, red and itchy. FYI, I have used both Rosacure and Procure. They both work and I was so hopeful. Unfortunately for me they only worked for about 3-4 weeks, then it stopped working. The inkey list makes Oat Cleansing Balm
The Inkey List Oat Calming Balm that is fabulous and calming and does not irritate my sensitive skin. You did so much great research for this video. Very well done.
Just did my first Derma Rolling last night, I was scared and excited at the same time. It was great, but I have one problem: my skincare pills all the time no matter what I do. I use Osmosis Stem Cell, Osmosis Correct, Truth Treatment Vit C, even if I wait in between applications. I have no idea what I am doing wrong, it even did it after derma rolling which I thought it wouldn't do.Would appreciate any suggestions you have. I have been watching Anne for years and love her too!!!!!!
I have a request: I have dry, rosacea, sensitive skin. Can you recommend an AM/PM skincare routine for anti-aging, hyperpigmentation, and hydration please. I would love to include some form of Retinol, Peptides and Niacinamide in my routine, I already use an AHA some nights. I just don't know how to combine everything I have. Please help me so that I don't damage my skin.
Hello good morning is not the subject of the video but you use sometimes in some of your videos use a microneedling machine for professional use , which brand is it? Thanks
I’ve tried both the Paula’s Choice and the Ordinary azelaic acid and I had no issues under makeup with Paula’s but the ordinary was FAR thicker/more difficult to spread and more drying 😩
My dermatologist just gave me a prescription for that metrazo-thingie medication and it came out to $250!! Even with our insurance, which is supposed to be great coverage, that is just way too much. I'm so glad you made this video because I need an alternative, please and thank you. #shoot! #thatsgroceriesrightthere
I just got the same script. My derm sent it to a private pharmacy-compounder. It was $50 for 30 grams. I have great insurance but going direct was awesome. Maybe try the online dermatologist-curology, I think? All the best💜
Penn, thank you for sharing! Your videos have been such a huge help with tackling my skin concerns! I do have a question that I hope isn't too silly, I have/had really dehydrated skin ( I followed your advice and started cosmetically derma rolling with HA and it has done wonders! My skin is so soft and smooth and hydrated!) But I am always red and flushed, but have been to a dermatologist and it is not rosacea! That brings me to my question, can I cosmetically dermaroll with a licorice serum or something that targets redness??🤷🏻♀️ I just thought maybe it will help the serum really soak in? Thank you for your time❤️❤️
Hi Penny I just bought the Touch bright and clear after your recommendation I have hyperpigmentation how are you incorporating it in your routine? And which hyaluronic acid face serum do you recommend thanks and great Chanel!
I know you have recommended Cos De Baha before. Have you tried their azelaic acid? It has very good reviews on Amazon... although the texture also seems to be an issue.
This was very information and right on time. I've been doing a good job of slowly lightening my hyperpigmentation but the redness is sometimes pretty intrusive. I'm intrigued by the Cerave SPF30. I try to not use anything with less than an SPF50. Will it be a detriment to my skin if I reduce the protection from a 50 to a 30???
I do usually think that the higher the number the better. However, in this case I do think that the iron oxides are very very valuable. This particular sunscreen does block UVA and UVB but it also helps to block visible light with those iron oxides. So you get a benefit that is kind of not relevant to the number. I do layer on a decent amount but I understand your trepidation. I’ve had great success with this one and I love how affordable it is and how beautiful the finish is 💜
Help! My 16 yr old nephew is interested in skincare for acne He’s using Rodan * Fields, Spotless Cleanser and treatment lotion. Seems high in peroxide What can you recommend for a cleanser and treatment for teenage acne prone skin?
Hi Penny, I have purchased and used the Faustina IPL a few times and am confused about all the skin care products which I was previously using, and having success with, that the Faustina says not to use. Which are really safe to use and which are totally not safe to use in conjunction with IPL treatments and why? I have Rosacea but it is not as active as was in my earlier years.
Love your videos! So I have dry skin and I feel like everything I use never hydrates my skin. It’s like it doesn’t absorb. Any products you can suggest? Thanks
When I feel that way about my skin I try to hydrate it with humectants like beta glucan, sodium PCA, hyaluronic acid, urea and then the important step is to put on a moisturizer that will lock those humectants in. So essentially you’re giving your skin a drink of water and then you’re sealing that drink in. It’s really important to do both. I hope this helps!
Sorry, I’m confused......for Azelaic Acid, do you prefer the Paula’s Choice or the Touch Brightening Cream? I would be using at night. I’m menopausal and I get small red pustules along my jaw with leftover redness and discoloration after they heal and flushing, along with visible capillaries on my cheeks! Thanks 😎
I actually prefer the touch product. When I filmed the video I hadn’t tested it long enough to say. But since filming I’ve played around with it quite a bit and it’s texture is just superior to the Paula’s choice and the ordinary in my opinion. Plus the other actives that are in that product are fantastic for pigment and glow.💜💜

Yes! That’s what I do 😊
With any of them now actually.

Hi Penn, off topic I know - but can you perhaps do a video regarding "dermarolling the body/arms/stomach" etc. TIA. Much appreciated if you can 🌻
Yes!! 😃
Awesome recommendations! 🙏 Thank you.

I’m so glad you’re here!
Thank you miss,Anne send me to you.She is great sweet and the best. You are so right miss.I have rosacea bad.So thank you,and i have someone to watch on my you tube.
I tried the Procure in the bottle and didn't think it did anything. Also the green tint wasn't enough to cancel out the redness.
What are your thoughts on Melazapam? It’s supposed to have 20% Azelaic acid. Found on Amazon.
Wonderfully, detailed video 👍
I purchased the sheet masks from your store!!❤️
Thank you!
Thank you so much for this. 🙏❤

What else is good for headaches?
Hello good morning is not the subject of the video but you use sometimes in some of your videos use a microneedling machine for professional use , which brand is it? Thanks
Love you Penny, your my fav!! You look beautiful ☺️
Thank you, so kind!
I’ve tried both the Paula’s Choice and the Ordinary azelaic acid and I had no issues under makeup with Paula’s but the ordinary was FAR thicker/more difficult to spread and more drying 😩
I have used these more since filming and agree 100%!!
Thank you Penn! Your videos are so helpful~ tyfs
@@kckc4955 that's a good idea, thanks!
Pink is your color
Aww thank you! 💜
Such a gorgeous top 💕
😄😄😄 I love Anne ...she's so cute n always makes me laugh..
Penn, thank you for sharing! Your videos have been such a huge help with tackling my skin concerns! I do have a question that I hope isn't too silly,
I have/had really dehydrated skin ( I followed your advice and started cosmetically derma rolling with HA and it has done wonders!
Thank you for your time❤️❤️
What is the difference of azaelaic and transecamic acid?
Would the Touch Brightening Cream replace my morning Vitamin C serum or be in addition to? Conflicts? Thank you ❄❄🍁
Addition to vitamin C with no contraindications ❤️
What about gluconolactone? Could it be better than azelaic acid?
I’ve had great success with this one and I love how affordable it is and how beautiful the finish is 💜
Help!
My 16 yr old nephew is interested in skincare for acne
He’s using Rodan * Fields, Spotless
Cleanser and treatment lotion.
Seems high in peroxide
What can you recommend for a cleanser and treatment for teenage acne prone skin?
Can rosacea go away ? I used to have it and it’s disappeared now for many years !
Fyi, Drmtlgy said the tinted sunscreen will be back in stock on Feb 6th!
I know I can’t wait! Thank you for sharing💜
@@PENNSMITHSKINCARE I can't wait either, haha. Thanks for everything you do!
Does Azelaic Acid play well with tretinoin and/or copper peptides?
Love your videos! So I have dry skin and I feel like everything I use never hydrates my skin. It’s like it doesn’t absorb. Any products you can suggest? Thanks
When I feel that way about my skin I try to hydrate it with humectants like beta glucan, sodium PCA, hyaluronic acid, urea and then the important step is to put on a moisturizer that will lock those humectants in. So essentially you’re giving your skin a drink of water and then you’re sealing that drink in. It’s really important to do both. I hope this helps!
@@PENNSMITHSKINCARE thanks so much I really appreciate it! Are there any affordable products you recommend? Thank you
Can you use azelaic acid with a retinol? 😕
Thanks so much Penny! I use a lot of products you’ve recommended and you haven’t steered me wrong yet.....take care!
