    Just back from 3 weeks in Paris (05 March-26 March). Please, please, please stop and just soak it all in. We ran around for days. Looking back we needed more "free time". As stated below, a Bonjour! will go a long way and you will be welcomed everywhere. Skip the hotel rooms with families. Rent a homeaway, vrbo or aribnb. You wont regret it!. Hearing our 2 adult/teen sons talking and just "existing" in earshot makes my heart soar. I hated being in the airport hotel the last night and not hearing or seeing them. Plus shopping at Carrefour or Monoprix is your best bet for some snacks and cost effective cooked meals. Yes, pre book all your tours and special meals as soon as you can. Speaking from experience!

      That is wonderful that you got to spend three weeks in Paris with your family. Thanks for sharing your experience and tips. Those extended stays allow time to soak up the city feel and life.

    Another great video Mates. Lots of very pertinent information in this. I especially endorse the basic manners of saying "Bonjour" etc (because it really does go a long way, along with "Merci" and "Sil Vous Plait"), and those fast closing doors on trains. Tourists and locals alike, get caught off guard with those if you're not paying attention. Keep up the great job on these.

    Bravo Erica and Jordan, a magnificent video that perfectly explains the things to do for a perfect visit to Paris. I strongly advise all tourists to watch this video, between the French words to know (the French are happy when you make the effort to say them) and the magnificent places to visit (the Luxembourg gardens are an absolute must). Advice to follow absolutely.

    If you get a Navigo Metro pass 1) each person needs one. You can’t go thru the turnstle and then pass the Navigo back to another person. 2) to me the turnstyle was slow in opening so I thought the pass didn’t regisister so I tapped again. But that made the turnstyle think that I was having another petson use my pass and so it didn’t open. We got that straightened out with an attendent, but it irritated me each time.

      We got the Navi go on our phones which made it very easy. Our six year old got his own card and he loved that.

    First rule of thumb when traveling, be polite.
    Say hello (even if it's just Allo).
    Learn to ask "Do you speak English" in the native language.
    You don't go to your local Grocery store or ice cream and start demanding stuff. They usually greet you, you greet them and then you order or ask you question.
    If you are an A-Hole anywhere people will treat like one.
    So whether you go to Paris, New York, or your local ice cream store. Be polite. It guarantees people won't spit in your food.

    If a waiter is asking for a tip tell him to pound sand. They absolutely do not ask Parisians for tips.

    Very helpful video. I saw in a couple of your clips the mom was carrying what looks like a sort of scooter or something. We have a 5 year old we will be traveling with who we know won't be able to walk the whole time, but a stroller seems overkill. Just wondering if you can recommend some options, other than Dad carrying him a lot :)

    • @YourGuidesAbroad
      @YourGuidesAbroad  7 месяцев назад

      We were carrying a babyzen yoyo stroller. It is a great travel stroller but overkill for a five year old. I’d be nervous about a scooter as the streets and sidewalks can be hectic. Take the metro often?

    Tips: Don't buy the Paris Visite pass, buy the passe Navigo, much less expensive. Toilets, ask where the phone is in a cafe, if they have one. They're always located downstairs by the toilets and no purchase is necessary.
