Josh's hamburger bun recipe is actually really good and easy. With that said, I used to love his channel but as he got more popular it clearly went to his head and it's really off putting.
Recently ordered Candelight with my wife, ordered the Hot Teriyaki & I can honestly say it's unbelievable how much Candelight has fallen off since I was in HS like 15 years ago.
Congratulations on hitting 1 mil subs on your 420th video! 🎉😂 I've been making and sharing your vids for the last year and you deserve every sub and more because your expertise has helped me elevate my cooking all around. Thank You for all you do!
Just wanna say that I never cooked before. Watched a bunch of videos from different channels and they never sparked my interest. This channel made me WANT to cook, and not only have I been making my food at home since, but the food is absolutely amazing thanks to this guy.
"I mean who's got time to make buns?" - that is why this channel is the best of all cooking channels, the average home cook does not have always have the time/equipment/skill to make everything from scratch
This is one of those cooking channels that probably has a much higher conversion rate of people actually making the recipe. Other channels are just food entertainment and probably less than 1% of viewers actually try the recipes because they make it so complicated *cough* josh
@@halo2glitcherz LOL you had me until you mentioned Josh. He's a former line cook with no formal training. Although he started out well, his later videos and recipes are cr*p, in my professional opinion. He's a showboater.
Candlelight Inn!!! Ate there so much from the early 90s through like 2010. Still love the wings, which were always my standby, but def still sad to hear that the sandwich fell off. Thanks for all your great videos!
I have never been to the Candlelight Inn, but I think we all have that place that made that dish that we always love. We can feel your pain. Plus, we all win because you made a video which helps all of us make better chicken fingers
You don't just get a recipe...you get a history lesson AND story time with Stephen. I love it. If you're watching this guy and are not subscribed, go see a doctor. Something's wrong with you. Stephen and Sonny on ThatDudeCanCook are by far the best on the RUclipss.
I love your food my man, and your attitude toward food. Obviously a passion. I spent 40 years in the F&B side of things so I appreciate what you're doing. Digging the honesty about your childhood fav sandwich. You definitely outdid them by miles. I'm making those chx fingers!
The passion you have for cooking, teaching, and eating; it’s absolutely addicting. Long time fan here, also had the pleasure of eating at your food trucks a few times while I was in Brooklyn for work. Your channel is amazing Steve, we’re thankful for you! 🤌🏼
I’ll admit, after following for a few years now, this is the first recipe of yours I’ve tried and im obsessed. So good and relatively easy. I usually shy away from having to fry things at home but this one was a breeze!
I have also realized the soul crushing truth that nothing tastes as good as it used to, so we gotta make it all ourselves. I've been starving for 4 years...motivations gotta be around the corner...
Whose got time to make buns?! I could hear Joshua Wiseman screaming…😂😂😂😂 you rock man! Love the channel and your vibe is infectious, remember to blow a kiss for “papa” 😂😂😂😂
I make a lot of the foods on this channel because of how accessible they are presented. Watch other shows too but this this one is professional yet realistic for a home cook.
Didn't grow up in NY, but I've also always been a buffalo chicken sandwich fan. They're hard to find, and it's even harder to find a good one. But, they're so amazing when you finally do find one. I almost wish I'd never had one if it weren't for being able to cook one at home.
Homie told the truth... I used to frequently haunt and then after covid, things changed and unfortunately they changed and not for the better in terms of quality... Like I get sometimes you got to change suppliers and whatnot... But the moment quality starts coming into question and lack of consistency, You might as well hang it up. I feel for him; and the best remedy is to make it yourself, indeed.
LOVE IT!! Few things worse than a childhood pristine food reminiscence that dies over time. AND god love you - I consider myself a pro home cook after 48 years cooking - I'm 55 - but I'd sooner not eat than bake my own rolls or bread.
OMG...I'm dying' here! I need one, NOW!!! That mix of heat and cool blue cheese...tender, moist chicken with a crunch...substantial bread and the freshness of the ice berg??? I'm dyin'!
I can relate to having to cook your favourite foods at home. I live in Australia and recently travelled to New York. After having pastrami at Katzs, I searched desperately to find something similar. We literally don't do pastrami in Australia the same way. Our version is thinly sliced cold deli meat like ham, nothing like how the us do it. So now I have to buy a smoker to attempt to recreate that delicious meat because I literally can't buy it anywhere.
@@Standupcomedyclass we went to Langers as well during that trip. I think Langers had better Russian dressing, the actual meat was better at Katzs. Or maybe that was just because it was cold outside and warm food tastes better
Hey, man. Just wanted to thank you for your content. Since I subscribed, I have used your channel to inspire many Sunday night dinners for the family. Your content is super down to earth and relatable. I like other cooking channels but a lot of them seem super elitist like there are advanced skills that everyone should just know. I used to eat a Buffalo chicken sandwich at a movie theater that served dinner where I’m from as a kid. It was frozen, but they did it right and served it wet on a toasted bun with shredded lettuce. It closed down permanently during covid, and your story instantly brought me back to my youth and young adult days. Now I need to make one of these and watch a cinema banger from the early 2000’s.
Holy crap I need this sandwich asap! Thanks for this recipe. I’ve made these with a less complex recipe and they were good, I’m sure your method will be incredibly delicious.
John’s on the Island (Grand Island) makes, hands down, my favorite meal in the world: chicken finger sub with the works plus a loganberry. My family is from the greater Buffalo area and, every single time we visit, as soon as we hit the Grand Island Bridge I call to place my order. Pure culinary delight. I don’t recall the first time I had the meal, but it’s definitely in the neighborhood of 35 years and it has never, ever disappointed.
I just made this and it was so satisfying 🤤 thanks for sharing! Note: Instead of citric acid in the blue cheese dressing I ended up using lemon juice and it came out pretty delicious
LMAO!!! Great story!! Sounds like the Candle burned out! Freakin' awesome Chicken Sandwich and sauce recipe here. Looking forward to making this your way. Ty
i absolutely love the stories behind the recipe.. thx for the awesome instructions, you also kinda got me through the whole pandemic with the pastas, ngl :D deeply grateful!
I used this recipe to make some fried buffalo chicken tenders that I just dipped in bottled blue cheese dressing, but hey were still amazing not in sandwich form. So crunchy, delicious and not all that complicated.
If you're ever in Hamden, Connecticut, there's a sports bar called Side Street Cafe. They make a Buffalo chicken "sangawich" as they call it that is excellent. Your choice, broiled or fried served on Kaiser or Portuguese roll. It's my fave.
The moral of the story is: whether it's a dive restaurant or a high-priced place, it's no better than the people who are in the kitchen. I know this from personal experience.
